Um, I think you may be forgetting that the Mario Party games had a hand in inspiring some of the Mario-series items' Melee designs, too; I remember one of the Mario Party games having the same exact design that it has in Melee...before Melee came out, of course.

@1jim3bob in the western world, real super mario 2 (aka lost levels in all stars) was never actually released. so most people only learnt of the poison mushrooms evil from all stars. It wouldn't say the same thing in the japanese game.

the design is similar, but the eyes in the stars were not new in mario 64, and the stars in 64 were broader, fatter... these r 3D just for the sake of it, but other than that their design is similar to the original

That's pretty cool. I think it'd be nice if they included the crossbow from Link's Crossbow Training. There are some pretty fun weapons such as the ball and chain from Twilight Princess that could work really well in Brawl.
