  • Thanks for posting this. Very helpful.

  • Thx for the vid. just finished my pilot. :D

  • Thanks!

  • I just relit my own pilot because of this video. It was so easy. I feel dumb now, haha.

  • fuck im freezing cold...

  • It's not an iPhone..it's just a plain old mirror. The gas person came by the other day and had the same thing.

  • Lol the title DOES sound kinky after taking another look! ;-)

  • nice use of iphone with mirror finish lol

  • @dtp5150

I used good old DV tape (camcorder) and Final Cut Pro. thnx!

  • @MichiganGirl32 He was talking about the "gas dude" using his phone to check out the burners.

  • Thank You Very Much. It Helped me Alot. I Am a 14 year old. This Saved My mom her time to call the gas company. Thanks Alot. I Really Appreciate it

  • YAY!!!!! I saved myself 1 week of suffering horrible low temperatures thanks to this video! Fucking awesome! I didn't know there was a lil button or valve or lil piston we had to push down to light this thing up... mine doesn't even look like a button but when I pressed dat thing downwards I lighted up a match I was able to see that glorious lil flame OHHHHH YEAH! Thats right babe! ... now give papa some heat!!!! (^_^)

  • What was he pushing down?

  • Wow this was helpful. The "Gas Dude" actually done this in front of me as well but I didn't see him holding the knob down which is also the gas surge knob if you will. Landlord came by the next day and had someone knock out the pilot.(idiot) Needed head I come to your video and seen how it was done. Yeah I was also afraid of loosing my eyebrows to a ball of fire.

  • the flame rolls out because of delayed ignition. Your "fan" should never ever blow out the pilot flame. Your pilot might fail because of a thermocouple issue. I'd call another company and see if you have a cracked heat exchanger.

  • Wait, what needs to be off so there isn't a big explosion?? I'm gonna try this later but I don't want it to blow up in my face

  • @CaliGirlJes Turn the whole heater off... that's all it was. If it's on, there's too much gas flowing through... so lighting a match would be bad...

  • thank you soooo much!

  • Heh. I tried it and succeeded only in burning my eyebrows off'n my face when the explosion happened. Just kidding ...

  • Thanks for posting this video, after watching it, I was able to light my heater's pilot.

    Thanks.

  • Thanks for posting this video. I was just able to light my own pilot.

  • i have an older version of the same furnace in my apartment, and the thermocouple (sp?) always fails and the pilot always goes out and it never relights. I wish i had your furnace. (always being every 2 months...) thanks for the video, i can always dream.

  • Oh! I wonder if that's why mine often goes out. I thought it was my fan or some kind of wind blowing it out. But maybe it's the age of the thing. Thanks, and hope you get a better furnace in future!

  • what about the part where your supposed to tell us to turn off the gas and wait for 5 min b4 you attempt re-lighting the furnace...wow!! i can see a desater forthcoming.....booooooom!!!

  • THank you! Like everyone else I'm freezing and I forgot how to light the pilot. I don't have time to wait for the gas man. I thought I would never find a video like this!

    THANK YOU!

  • I'm no expert, but you might want to consider replacing your heater. If you notice at 0:46 when he turns the flame up, some fire jumps out and almost hits the wall. My old one did this too much and eventually caused a wiring fire.

  • That is great advice. That actual gas guy told me to have my landlord replace it. I have told her a few times that they are over 50 years old and need to be replaced, but I can't force her to do it. I'm just the tenant. you are right though!!

  • It just made me think. That's an awful lot of "roll-out" (when the flame escapes the flame chamber). My old furnace was about 40 years old and I believe it was roll-out that caught the wires on fire and almost set my house on fire! :O

  • @MichiganGirl32 You can bring that to Attention of a gas company or file a Saftey violation agianst that, a roll out big enough is a bomb.

  • Bless you for this! A Google search took me right to it, reminded me of the steps, and it took two minutes to get the furnace going again!! You're a life-saver!! (It's 40 degrees outside....)

  • THANK YOU!!!!! I can't see my breath anymore! no more freezing nights!

  • great video

  • yea..this video was awesome.

I also fixed my pilot light, only a few bucks and made a video of it too..

check out my pilot light vid,, its in my profile..

    good job

  • Thanks! I was freezing. This helped a lot!

  • OMG, lol, I love you for this. I needed it, I searched, & now my heat is on! I was freeeeezing! Thanks!

  • boom!

  • thank you, thank you, thank you! I was freezing and in tears but thanks to your video I am now smiling and warm :0)

  • Switch to oil - doesnt explode like gas does. And its more efficient (More BTU's)

  • I was dying of hypothermia a few minutes ago, but now im ok. Thanks you tube.

    Thank you

  • thanks for posting!!!!!!!!! big help

  • Thank you! This was exactly what I needed to turn the pilot light back on when my husband wasn't home. Before I found your video, I was really frustrated. Now I'm really excited that I did it myself!!

  • thanks Michigan lady....this was a great idea...getting warm in here now! October 12th and I can't wait another day!

  • cause everybody's pilot goes out occasionally and we all forget how to turn it back on

  • right on this work for me too thanks for posting!!!!!!!!!

  • why does this have 23k views?

  • I don't know!! I have been wondering that myself. Perhaps it's just extremely useful for people?? I used to think the title sounded like it was trying to be a sexual reference, which wasn't my intention. But I do find it interesting and maybe more people will say why they watch!! thank you!!

  • OMG!!! I did it, yaaaay, hahaha, can you believe my husband stood in front of the heater for 30 min, trying to figure it out an he couldn't do it, hahaha, and I did it in 2 min. TANK YOU!!!!!! Who needs men, hahaha!!!! ; )

  • man showed u here...

  • make sure you stand to one side when you lite you heater and wear safety glasses

  • OMG! Thank you so much! I just lit my pilot myself. Wow! My local gas company charges $30 to light it a second time. You just saved me some dough girlfriend. Thank you so much!

  • OMG! THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! Our heater is by our front door, and it goes out often. I just got it relit the first try after watching this, so THANK YOU!!! Who needs men, anyhew??!! heheheh :)

  • Thank you Michigan Girl! I am voting "Gas Dude Relights My Pilot Light!" as Most Helpful Video ever. Thanks so much!

  • You are a genius. Thanks for posting, it's a two week wait for the gas company and I just got mine lit. No more freezing to death!

  • thank you so much!! i didn't know where to light the thing and this really helped!!

  • Very very helpful guys ... thanks from Rutgers University!!

  • Yes, it's an old wall unit. Sorry, I didn't have a wide shot. My apartments were built in the early 50's, I believe. When the gas guy left, he said that my landlord will have to start replacing those soon to keep up with current standards.

  • newer unit have what call a glowplug then a pilot light made out of nickle or silcon nitred

it a plug with a sparking or heating element

about the same size as a needle but as more
