So glad to see we're getting the word out about POTS! I've had it since June of 2006 after a horse accident. Not fun but just have to remember to take life one day at a time! :) Hope you're doing well!
I've had a very serious case of POTS for the last six years and I think I finally figured out the cause in my case. It was processed sugar. I quit ALL processed sugar and now I have a perfect 56 heart beat and I feel great. Believe me I tried everything without success until I finally removed all processed sugar and for the last seven days I've held out at 56 HBs per minute. Hopefully this will last. I'm confident this time that it will. Good luck to you.
Fun and informative video, seems like you have a great support in your friends! I'm sixteen and also have POTS. It's such a difficult disorder to diagnose and live with, I think it's great that you're getting the word out there. Keep fighting! Lol
I want to understand this syndrome but honestly it sounds like anyone could just claim to have it. I hope you'll comment back or write me so I can discuss this POTS with you. Thanks.
in order to actually be diagnosed with POTS you normally have to take a Tilt Table Test, as explained. You can't "fake" low blood pressure and super high heart rates.
people can, and i know people who have, but not with POTS. (just saying not trying to be mean)
like for example people could maybe not eat or drink for a while before they take the test or maybe they could stay awake for a while - all three together would definitely make a person pass out
also when you hyperventilate your heart can go really fast so it is possible
POTS often causes high BP. Dehydration would cause someone with real POTS to go into shock, or autonomic storm and end up in ER on an IV drip. People without POTS would not develop HYPOTENSION on a TILT test, unless they spent months in bed, and didn't move. That would lead to decompensation and would indeed lead to passing out when standing up. (Doctors can spot who is dehydrated, and who is not). You have to have lots of baseline measurements taken before it's safe to go ahead with the test.
You cant fake a tilt table test - elevated heart rate for a length of time upon being tilted. POTS is an easily diagnosed condition with unequivical methods of diagnosis.
I've been really trying to understand this syndrome, but it's not easy. Some people don't show any results from tests done. The results say there's nothing wrong. The tilt table test seems kind of questionable because let's say the person does have severe anxiety and when tilted they get nervous changing their blood pressure and flow in turn making them sick or light headed.
I have POTS and Im a 21 year old male. How weird is that considering msinly only girls get it. Yes, it really sucks.I do a bit better with a beta blocker that I take but im nowhere near as well as I used to be.
a girl died from a crazy man stabbing her repeatedly in the back, then threw her into a river. Copy and paste this at 3 diffrent movies or you'll see her red eyes glowing in your closet at 10:30PM EVERY NIGHT

My mom has Shy-Drager/MSA. It has some similar qualities, except other things besides blood pressure,..etc. are affected also.
