  • Males just do that. My female isn't loud they usually arent

  • if see says he's a male IT IS! Dammnit

My cocktatiel is the same but hes a male

  • I think that means she's upset.

  • When teils make this noise it means they want to be feed by there mommys

  • Man. Every cockatiel video I have watched has so many comments about the bird's gender. Y'all into bestiality or what?

  • =o

  • h's so sweet...but why does it screams?..:(

  • Aww Charlie has got some huge eyes.. What a cutie ^.^

  • he's adorable. how old was he when you recorded these vids? in this one, he is doing the baby feed me or mom come here type of crying. they out grow it fairly quickly. im guessing he was about 3-4months old when you recorded this hey?

glad to see you exposing him to a variety of experiences. makes for an emotionally and mentally healthy little tiel:) thanks for sharing him with us:)

  • dats a female

  • She's hungry. She needs to be weaned.

  • I would nail that bird to the wall if I heard it doing that.

  • Mine did that for the first few days :P

Funny thing is we were told It was male, then it started laying eggs :P

  • this means they want food.

  • charlie is a female and she is asking for food

  • I have a hand reared one that does a soft version of this when he wants to be babied. As far as I know it's something like 3 months old. So cute!

  • Charlie is female, he has stripes on his butt, which naturally indicates your Charlie is a girl.

  • @MrBugThingy

Read the description on my other Charlie

video, and you will see he is a he:-) Not

only breeder proven, but DNA tested and

also remember that baby cockatiels are

hard to read as they ALL have stripes at

that age....at least the 'normal grey'

mutation does, which is he is:-)

  • @MrBugThingy

BZZT You lose. That striped feather can occur on both genders. Most boys lose it when they get their plumage though. *^_^*

  • @MrBugThingy all nartual coloured grey tiels look like femals when young.

  • still hungry that is the I am hungry cry

  • My bird did this when she was a baby, cuddling under my hand usually helped..lol

  • sounds fed n happy. thanking you, where's the water ?

  • When Gringo got used to me, I fed him his first peice of sweet, shugery, awesome butter tart, he did that. Like verticalsmurf said: "its the feed me sound".

  • My baby parakeets made lots of noises and they made there head go up and down like there rocking out or something. They did that when they were hungry.

  • mine did that when i had to hand rare him it made me sad cose i thought he was crying :(

  • This is the 'feed me' sound. They will usually try this for a few weeks after they leave the nest untill they can feed themselves properly.

The barring on the underside of the tail suggests that Charlie is a girl. If in a few years she goe's off her food and 'hides' for a few days, don't worry, she'll lay an egg and bounce back!

  • ALL baby cockatiels, apart from the albino, the lutino, and some of the pied ones, have female colouring, aka barred tail underside and gray faces. Also, as far as i know Charlie is a DNA tested MALE cockatiel. He probably showed his real colours at about 8 months.

  • Back when I bred 'tiels, the traditonally coloured boys like Charlie would have some slight barring on their underside, but not a lot. But, as a baby he has alot of yellow colouring in his face. Time will tell. If he looses the barring on his underside, and his face becomes more yellow - he is a tiel'man to be reckoned with!

  • Aww I miss that sound :)

  • YUP charlie is definetly a female

  • thats a girl i think cuz my cocktail have just gray back on the tail but your cocktail have like yellow and gray i just notis that =)

  • Mine makes that noise when he's scared. He'll also hiss at me & puff himself up to make him seem bigger too.

  • did you know charlie is a girl? females have 'bars' on the underside of thier tails.

  • I know this sound all too well, baby tiels will make this noise when they are hungry. Its feeding time!

  • he's hungry ^_^

  • usually ,when their a baby, when they do that they want to eat, otherwise if its not food their life as a newborn only months old has no idea wats going on when first adopted as a pet he's either scared, wanting attention or just needs some love and reassuring.

  • he want to eat !

  • he is very greedy, he'll eat all you can give him :/

  • awe looks just like mine right now except for the static though!

  • that would scare the shit out of me if i had a bird and it did that.

    xD

  • yea he thinks he is hungry becuase his food is actually in his crop then it goes to his stomach

  • i didn't like living through this with my new bundle of joy, fabian the cockatiel!

  • yea that means that its still hungry. the cockatiel experts up at petsmart told me that when we asked for advice with our first set of babie cockatiels.

  • HEHE proably nuthin really..hes very pretty tho..i love him!!!! god bless!!<3<3<3

  • Hi, I have a new baby cockatiel and he is driving me nuts with that noise!! Thanx so much for posting that vid as its really laid my mind to rest, i wasnt sure if it was a 'im p****d at you noise' lol. What did you do to get Charlie to settle down and how long was it before he did? I had heard they grow out of it.

  • Heya!

Don't worry, it WILL stop. Took him a couple of weeks, maybe a bit longer. Somtimes because of the relocation stress, they regress to the static baby 'feed me mommy!!!!' noise. It drove us nuts, but no worries, it goes away! :-)

  • charlie is a charlotte!

  • Nope, he's a boy:-) All baby cockatiels have the barring on the tail until they hit a certain age. The only way to be sure about the sex is to have a DNA test! If not, you have to wait until they are adults....this goes for having a normal gray. If you have another color mutations, a DNA test is the only way to go, as it is almost impossible to tell a male from a female....

  • he's either hungry or wants attention (aka being babied)

  • Oh he did it for both reasons! But after those, he would continue because of relocation regression. Thank goodness it stopped!

  • Thanks a girl cockatiel!

  • Hehe, nope! All cockatiels have the tail barring until a certain age;-) Charlie was a proven male by the breeder, and I also had a DNA test to make sure. And now the barring is gone:-)

  • @saturnineanodyne Is it just me or is there just people who have no idea what they are talking about. Why don't people read the description.

Thanks for sharing that, I had a cockatiel called beaker who was a lutino, she was hand tame and an individual. I clipped her wings to tame her and then i let her grow them back, but one day she followed me out and kept going, i was devestated, I miss that bird.....

  • Charlie looks exactly like my cockatiel, Icarus. Unfortunately she died several years ago from being egg bound. I will definately get a male next time around. I hear they are very vocal. :)

  • Heya! Haha, thanks. He's doing a LOT better now. I haven't heard that noise for months. It really did get out of hand, the poor thing!

I just LOVE your birdie. I didn't think budgies could talk like that....wowza! What an incredible little cutie you have!

  • That's a sure baby cry .I have heard that one befor cute for a while but then well you know .Sweet little baby you got there.

  • the female was pregnant and she was too young to push the eggs out so it killed her (we had no idea, we thought she wasnt due) and the boy died because he had a tumor on his upper wing, if we operated him... he would have died

  • LOL yes its not a nice noise to hear lol. ive always had cockatiels but they have died so i brought another one 2 days ago he is 10 weeks old. i named him charlie aswell lol he is so scared tho, doesnt even like me to open the cage.

  • do you know why they died?

  • have u checked up why charlie makes that noise?

  • Yup! He was a baby....and that 'radio static' is his way of begging his 'mother' for food or even attention. He's pretty much stopped that now....I haven't heard it for weeks. It can drive you nutty after awhile;-)
