But one of the beauties of America, at least for the open minded, is our ability to blend many cultures, because we ARE multiple cultures and it only makes sense that we eventually end up expressing "belly-dance" or anything in this way. If they keep up the work they will be good. Id like to see a little individual style with them not so robot choreography and 100% matching costumes, too much symmetry it needs to be a bit more individual to that girls style so you can see who they are both in how they dance and what they wear.

FYI, Shakira (the singer) is not a bellydancer. She fuses hip hop with salsa and has a few bellydance moves, but she doesn't possess the feeling and spirit of bellydancing.
These girls are good and I would call this fusion.. they fuse bellydance with hip hop and such; they made it their own. These girls are MUCH better than Shakira. Shakira does the same bellyrolls and hip circles over and over again.

THEY are some beautiful dancers. these girls are alright, but they look like dancers straight out of a club. i've always loved the exotic feel to belly dancing, whether traditional or tribal or what have you, but that element has been lost here. it's too pop culture, with the outfits, the pretend guns, the hair, the music... but i suppose that was the point. just not my thing, personally.
Very interesting! I liked the modern themes thrown in there and LOVED the fodoras. :D Only thing I'd like to point out is that this is hip-hop fusion belly dancing and not tribal fusion. Tribal means that it's mixed with traditional movements from different cultures.

Tribal Fusion belly dancing is not my favorite, I prefer the more modern hip hop belly dancing without the goth factor added in. I guess it just depends on the person though, I just wish there wasn't so much of it at all the festivals, it gets pretty boring. Oh, well.

but they arent just shaking their asses. This is a creative variation. it actually reminds me of tribal. its amateur and uses minimal variation in their movement, but they are using the american form of bellydance and i dont call that shaking their asses.
What most Americans consider "bellydance" today is only VERY loosely based on Arab dances. Heck, even the classical dance in Egypt was super-heavily influenced by France with ballet! So, as long as people don't go around calling it "Middle-Eastern" dance, we can respect that it is an art in its own right-- a *fusion* of movements from different cultures. ^_^
Tribal Fusion mixes different styles together, but that doesn't mean it "kills" the arab culture. There is still traditional, Egyptian, Arabian belly dancing, but this is just a twist on traditional dancing.
I'm not saying you should love it, go ahead and hate it. But please don't say it kills something when all it's doing is respecting it and mixing it with new things.

I do Tribal Fusion and it's brilliant. The control that you have to have is actually very hard.

Tribal Fusion belly dancing is not my favorite, I prefer the more modern hip hop belly dancing without the goth factor added in. I guess it just depends on the person though, I just wish there wasn't so much of it at all the festivals, it gets pretty boring. Oh, well.

It's called Tribal Fusion. Just because it's different doesn't mean it sucks.
Yes, belly dancing did originate from the Middle East, but Tribal Fusion mixes ATS style with hip hop and traditional.
I suggest that before you bash something just because it's different, you research what it is to understand it better. =)

but they arent just shaking their asses. This is a creative variation. it actually reminds me of tribal. its amateur and uses minimal variation in their movement, but they are using the american form of bellydance and i dont call that shaking their asses.

What most Americans consider "bellydance" today is only VERY loosely based on Arab dances. Heck, even the classical dance in Egypt was super-heavily influenced by France with ballet! So, as long as people don't go around calling it "Middle-Eastern" dance, we can respect that it is an art in its own right-- a *fusion* of movements from different cultures. ^_^

It's called diversity.
Tribal Fusion mixes different styles together, but that doesn't mean it "kills" the arab culture. There is still traditional, Egyptian, Arabian belly dancing, but this is just a twist on traditional dancing.
I'm not saying you should love it, go ahead and hate it. But please don't say it kills something when all it's doing is respecting it and mixing it with new things.
