if anyone is much interested in this story, their is an indepth book about kelsang who was shot and her friend dolma. the book is called "Murder in the High Himalaya"
This time communist china was unluckey and caught in climbers camera.
There are thousands of such incidents since chinese illegal rule of Tibet,East Turkistan and Inner Mongolia but they couldn't record in camera like this.
UNO,EU and US did nothing. They even never dared to questioned communist authorty in Beijing and force to bring this millitary peronnel and the commanding officer to the justice.
listening to the chinese is like listening to someone you know who tells lies constantly. U can never believe a word that person says. I'm amazed when i hear the chinese telling these lies, thinking the whole world will believe them... the only people who dont know the truth are the decent chinese people who are fed these lies, while the rest of the world and the chinese officials themselves know what lying bastards they are. People like liulihao = ignorant evil wanker
Oh!this is very sad to see, these chinese soldiers shooting and killing innocent people.I'm chinese and im sad to see this all life is precious..tibetan,chinese,whites..we are all human beings.
@thewhitelightangel Sadest part is the CCP then claimed it was just normal border management. Whats normal about shooting unarmed women and children LEAVING the country. It's not like they were trying to get in they were in fact trying to get out. I think I sent you entire video but I will just in case as it is far sadder then just this short clip!!
What exactly should I educate myself on to teach me that human rights should be universal? But you're probably right about it not doing anything but it would be the ethical thing to do and really the only thing we could do on an individual level. Asking nicely just won't do anything, but economic sanctions might. If you have a better idea then voice it instead of being such a condescending prick and we could have a proper debate instead of throwing insults.
well, i wasn't really insulting unless you're too soft skinned to already take a little sarcasm that seriously. may be you should have taken your own advice regarding debates instead of calling me a prick. great way of being a hypocrite... anyway, i'll answer your questions. sanctioning the chinese will first of all hurt yourself. china is the most important market world wide. any major western country that would start an economic embargo would commit economic suicide
that's a fact and that's why it hasn't happened yet. china knows it too and that's why they don't give a damn. also, the chinese market is massively self-reliant. most of the export is done by western companies that are situated in mainland china and produce there, so china wouldn't really be hit.
let's assume it would affect them. who do you think would suffer most? not the rich ones. not the ones with a good education, not the ones living a middle class life in the cities, but the lower class inhabitants that already have to to struggle to make ends meet. and part of those are also minorities...those that you actually try to help with your idea. sanctions are always a bad idea. iraq and cuba have proven that. also, china has shown that it can stand on its own feet.
i agree that human rights should be universal, but i'm not so blue-eyed to think that there's always a way to force them upon independent countries. in case of china, all measures have turned out unsuccessful. there is no solution in sight other than reminding the chinese government on a political level that we haven't forgotten about the human rights violations.
may be in the future there will be something to pressure the chinese government with. right now, it's impossible. but even if it was, don't forget that this would only cause suffering on a much larger scale. the chinese suffered during the long march and the cultural revolution and there's no reason why this couldn't happen again. it would only worsen the problem, because it never affects those who are in charge, but only normal people who don't have the power to deal with the results
Let's hope so, but as history has shown us it's only after much repression and violence that societies rebel and change these societies. Self-determination is key to any healthy society and unfortunately we see very little of that today. By not doing business with the devil we may make it harder for them in the short term, but they will ultimately be pushed to rebel against their oppressors or destroy themselves as most empires do.
yeah that's what i find perverted and also why i oppose sanctions. hurting people so much that they rebel against their leaders almost works never (counter example?). worsening people's situation so much that they suffer just to change politics is a wrong way.
it certainly won't work for the chinese. as i said, they endured more than most western civilizations could imagine and still cheer for their butchers. throw in their influenceable mentality and you will hope for change forever.
true, at least that's the cliché that documentaries tell us, but history teaches a different lesson. despite the fact that we had mass slaughters in world war 2, we experienced the same gruesome deeds in china, cambodia, yugoslavia, rwanda, the whole middle east.
if there is an agenda to be pushed, then victims of former traumatic events are quickly forgotten. or can you remember a war that was stopped before it really took off, because people suddenly remembered the cruel parts of history?
Well we'd remember our histories if we were taught them. Our society is ultimately the problem because we are more concerned with celebrity gossip or what new consumer craze hit the market than why wars start and the history leading to them. Sanctions don't work because some politician is always tying his own corrupt ideology and agendas to them. What I advocate is a a boycot of buying the junk coming outta China and all tyranical countries, by taking personal responsibilty for choices we make.
Not doing business with someone who is commiting crimes is not blue-eyed. It's being human and conscience of the suffering happening in these types of countries. By funding their genocides, it continues the suffering of the people in these countries. I'm not saying force them to respect international law, but by taking an ethical stance on the issue all you say is that if you want to do business with us you have to stop killing innocent people. It might be hard to do, but I beleive it's right.
You being a prick has to do with the fact that you make assumptions that I am uneducated on a topic and also the condescending tone of your first comment. It's not about me being soft or a hypocrite, it's about you not being polite when trying to engage in a conversation.
I realize that sanctions won't work for those exact reasons you stated, but I'm not talking about the economics of not buying from countries, not just China, that commit horrible human rights violations. I'm talking about the ethics and ultimately the hypocracy of doing business with people who willingly commit attrocites. By personally minimizing and changing our consumption habits, we can individually embody the change we want to see in the world by not funding these regimes as best we can.
well, you describe the basic goal of using an embargo and while it sounds logical, i'm still convinced that it doesn't work. can you name an example where a boycott actually changed the course of a country that was ruled by a dictatorship? i sure can't. saddam blamed the medicine shortage due to an embargo on the US and cuba still hasn't changed, despite the american embargo, that almost spans 5 decades. same goes for the EU's weapon embargo against china
Well first off the Cuban embargo is not about human rights, it's about U.S. Ideology against Soviet Cuban Ideologies. Both sides care nothing about human rights. Suddam doesn't work as an example either because first the U.S. arms him, puts him in power and then sanctions him, then invades to try to fix the problem the U.S. started. I'm saying have a hands off policy and let the country in question deal with it's problems without any support for either side coming from us.
When sanctions happen in the way I described them, then I'll give you an example. Sanctions as we've seen them to date have always been about forcing an ideology onto another group of people. If they want to murder each other or live in tyranny, go ahead and see how that works out. But we can't contribute to the same things we disagree with. We have become a society of hypocrites. A nation is more than it's economy, armies or politicians, it's about the morals of it's people.
I was asking about an actual example where your idea about sanctioning actually works. you gave me a philosophical point of view which is nice but useless unless it actually has worked before. remember, this debate started with us disagreeing whether or not sanctions on china would help furthering human rights in this country. i showed why i think that it won't work by citing actual events. now please do the same.
Well maybe if you read what I stated in previous comments I said "I realize that sanctions won't work for those exact reasons you have stated." You are correct that it is a philosophical point of view that for the most point has not been tried or tested and therefore their is no example. As I see it there has been no example of sanctions that have been successfull. This doesn't mean we can't try a different approach, perhaps a philosophical one. Unless you have a better solution?
well, philosophy won't help you change politics. it never has and there's no reason why it would now. in case of china, the only solution i see, is to open up the country even more and give the population the chance to educate itself and get other people's point of view.
the internet is already helping a great deal to achieve that. knowledge transfer, globalization and the fact that chinese people openly embrace western culture will also help. then all you need is patience...and lots of it

Document China Oppress Tibetan & Culture Genocide
It states
"Tibetans want to escape so they can study their language and culture, which isnt available in schools there. They risk being arrested by Chinese police and have to cross high mountain passes."
Another of hearts pain is my two baby brothers i not seen since i taken from my homeland...they two went to indian thinking be free...no one has seen them herd of them since...so we my families know whats happened to them...Shame on the chinese pigs treat us like animals like dogs like catle they treat us like whiteman treated the beautiful native americans tride wipe them out..Same with chinese trying wipe us out in any means...SHAME ON THE CHINESE.
Truly ask yourself, what is "Material gain" without freedom? What you saying about Chinese Gov't helping Tibetans financially is incorrect. There are Tibetans working in office but that is extremely low. The majority, i'm even willing to say 98% of Tibetans are treated harshly and are in very bad economic status because they are Tibetan.
The influx of Chinese into Tibetan region is further driving Tibetan identity to extinction and on top of that Tibetans are already in poverty status.
Han chinese immigration into Tibet is a disgrace and the cause of many problems in Tibet, Cultural Genocide for instance, which is the reason many Tibetans go over Nangpa La pass in the first place.
where 15 teenage nuns were imprisoned, tortured and 14 died. The survivor tells her story. The first 2 minutes and 5 seconds will show you how bad things can get in Tibet.
This video shows part of a long and dangerous journey by Tibetans to escape Tibet because it is very hard to get an exit visa. They risk frostbite, exposure, and being shot. They are often ill prepared and walk for days without food or clean water.
Kelsang Namtso, a nun was shot in the back and killed by Chinese soldiers and 2 bullets hit another Tibetan. It is believed 18 children and adults missing since the shooting, are either held by Chinese authorities, were killed or have been executed.
This is so sad, thats what happened to my 3 friends they was raped beaten then shot as i escaped...this was in Amdo grasslands...When will this all end the killing the beatings, the rapes and Torture:

The Chinese are free to travel and migrate around the world. Yet Tibetans get shot trying to walk across the border.
nzgav 3 years ago
This video shows part of a long and dangerous journey by Tibetans to escape Tibet because it is very hard to get an exit visa. They risk frostbite, exposure, and being shot. They are often ill prepared and walk for days without food or clean water.
Kelsang Namtso, a nun was shot in the back and killed by Chinese soldiers and 2 bullets hit another Tibetan. It is believed 18 children and adults missing since the shooting, are either held by Chinese authorities, were killed or have been executed.
