See here's the problem. You are thinking of MMA mainly as a style. MMA is actually a rule set. It has been the only testing ground for any martial art. You can't say MMA has not been tested when MMA is in fact the test. I suggest you watch the first 10 UFCs, which were style vs style martial arts tournaments made to see which style worked best in a no-rules environment. MMA as a style simply evolved out of necessity of the fighters.
Martial artists of every style competed in MMA events in the USA, Brazil and Japan. When it became clear that martial artists of just one style were lacking an entire aspect of fighting (kung fu, boxing or muay thai practitioners having no ground worl or BJJ guys having no kickboxing), they started crosstraining, creating what is colloquially referred to as MMA (the style). Do you understand how this isn't exactly a new style but an evolution of combat tested styles?

See here's the problem. You are thinking of MMA mainly as a style. MMA is actually a rule set. It has been the only testing ground for any martial art. You can't say MMA has not been tested when MMA is in fact the test. I suggest you watch the first 10 UFCs, which were style vs style martial arts tournaments made to see which style worked best in a no-rules environment. MMA as a style simply evolved out of necessity of the fighters.

Martial artists of every style competed in MMA events in the USA, Brazil and Japan. When it became clear that martial artists of just one style were lacking an entire aspect of fighting (kung fu, boxing or muay thai practitioners having no ground worl or BJJ guys having no kickboxing), they started crosstraining, creating what is colloquially referred to as MMA (the style). Do you understand how this isn't exactly a new style but an evolution of combat tested styles?

@Ljenkins9000 one more think before i replied to your nonsense, I study Tae Kwon Do, it took me 4 years to get the blue belt(without failing), and I did continue to study karate-do shito ryu style which I got the black belt 7 more years and one degree, also I did some boxing and wrestling and some judo, but for me in my opinion pak kua chan and tai shi chuan is the the best those 2 styles are the ones that I completed in kung fu. Can you please tell me what martial art do you know?

@sjaidel2003 Also, kung fu and TKD guys lost an extremely high percentage of the time. Something ridiculous like 95%. Since then they've stopped competing and started making up BS excuses like how they're "too deadly to compete". Tai Chi guys don't bother since Tai Chi is really just moving meditation.

@sjaidel2003 BTW, you should realize that if you really do boxing, wrestling and Judo (and ever spar using striking and ground work at the same time) you are by both definitions doing MMA.

@anycolour Listen had you ever trained any martial art for more than 7 years? i did and i do, i had fight and a lot, I tell you the same think to you, than to the other guy, learn MMA and come and test your self to see how good it is!, men at least on my opinion that is and sport not a martial art, but I am not a nerd that is for sure

@sjaidel2003 I don't have to personally train in MMA to know that a "mixed" martial artist will exploit your preferred Martial arts weakness. Its been explained here below me. You get locked in a cage and try to have a tae kwon do or karate-do shito match your likely to get ground and pounded. Its as simple as that, mixed martial artists are competent in ALL aspects of FIGHTING, not just what they like.
I'm in no way trying to discredit your hard work, but your opinion on MMA is all wrong.

Thank you I understand but in my opinion is because there is so many bad teachers that only shows form, and in any martial art you need to fight, I have a video that I will upload soon with a MMA fighter so you can see how to beat then.When I was a blackbelt In karate(only) for sure any of those guys will beat me,but when I trained kung fu I learned how to wrestle I am telling you for 2 medium fighter one MMA and one with kung fu,I don’t think the MMA will have a chance that is what I have seen

@sjaidel2003 Yes i do Jiu Jitsu and Muay Thai but this is how i see it... There are no "Bruce Lee" like Kung Fu guys in the UFC... why? It doesn't work when you get guys grabbing hold of you and throwing you all over the place with strikes too. Nobody can really do what you see these Kung Fu guys do in movies.

@Chris2O09Good martial arts, well the Bruce lee subjects I don’t even like him, but that is my opinion.Regarding to MMAvsKungfu I have seen those fights and really I haven seen any real kung fu master fighting , for your information kung fu have a lot grabbing and wrestling , and of course movies are just movies and they use wires and special effects but so far i what i see is people using brute force and some thecniques in MMA

@sjaidel2003 OK well no doubt Bruce was a Kung Fu master... so i think if you put him against a lightweight in the UFC he would probably lose. Reason being soon as they grabbed him he'd be dominated and controlled.

only people who don't follow mma (or jiu jitsu for that matter) are still in the dark about the style vs style era (now passed)
there are no kung fu or karate masters in mma, vale tudo, or anything else, bc their "styles" are one dimensional
a hard pill to swallow for the ardent formal martial artist
now those martial artists from a formal background who cross-train and THEN fight, they will be more successful 10 times out of 10
