  • AWESOME! SIMPLY AWESOME!

MUCH SUPPORT, STRENGTH & LOVE TO MY MAORI/POLYNESIAN BROTHERS AND SISTERS!

    RESPECT FROM HOPI LAND!

  • Hahahahaha, thats all you nay sayers get from me. This Haka is awesome. I love it. I wish you guys would just commment about it instead of commmenting on yesterday. P.s. this comes from a native american.

  • I wish i knew what they were saying, I know that theyre telling a story. I find the Haka so hot, and powerful.. A man from the Tuhoe tribe came and presented to us, it was a real eye opener.. I was so narrowminded about assimliation, I thought us natives in canada were the only ones colonized and assimilated.. Guess not ;)

  • you'll be suprised how many ethnicities are being forced into assimilation. They price to pay for assimilation to anglo culture is high. you are just being tolerated not accepted in the club.I would slap a younger version of myself if I could. Most indigenous cultures have so much in common.I was thrilled when I found out Maoris,AU aborigines, western africans all perceive dreams as the alternate conscience in a similar fashion.it is time we have a convo about this without anglosaxon authority.

  • Mean brothers....Kia kaha, kia maia kia manawanui

  • This reminds me of te whanau a apanui area school at nationals haha! only because they only had 5 boys in their roopu lmao!

  • can you PM me with the lyrics of this Haka version because i'd like to learn it. I already did at school the version the rygby team does.Respect Maori KA MATE

  • this is all gud. they added some stuff that we wudnt really do in NZ bt I thnk cus its a competition they wanted to be a bit different and add something which i think is a bit contemporary. But it's bout 90% good stuff. not worth moaning about. think of it as kapahaka super12's i guess bt less contemporary than super12's. No where near as bad as the euro haka stuff on youtube. people shud go moan on those ones instead haha

  • wat r u gis takin abt

  • Love hawaii man greatest place on earth

  • @Kiyle4444 you said it brah!!!!

  • Kia ora - well done

  • love the fact you get defensive when anyone mentions the haka but your perfectly happy to rip on british culture and heritage

  • @MrHairyRambo wat r u on about? the poms came n forced their language n culture on us. we did not say, hey, come and colonize us coz we all want to be british subjects.

  • @kiwidiva most of the poms your on about came over against their will they were convicts

  • @retardedjoe12 oh well, that makes it ok then - NOT!

  • @kiwidiva do you think that they wanted to be there ,no i dont think so,blame the bastards that put them there, the government. but if you want to disrespect our heritage and culture, sticks and stones mate we can take it we are men,we dont jump around screaming,we get stuck in and fight, come to england and we will show you

  • @retardedjoe12 hahaha! been there, done that! saw all the indians, pakistanis, jamaicans, aussies, kiwis, yanks (etc.) taking over london. guess that's what happens when your govt sets out to 'make the world england!' some of the pesky natives (quite a lot actually) end up in the motherland. ps my ancestor 7 generations back came from nottinghamshire - he was NOT a convict.

  • @kiwidiva hey do you know da lyrics to dis haka? I would like to teach it to da guys here where I live? But if not dats cool brah

  • @retardedjoe12 Your heritage and culture haha what is that rape and pillage??

  • Comment removed

  • @retardedjoe12 Are you being serious? "we dont jump around screaming" thats disrespectful. Just because someone has said something about your culture to make you feel like they have disrespected you it doesnt mean you can disrespect our haka and our men. They are men and yous are men too. "we get stuck in and fight?" haka isnt about fighting its about the challenge. "come to england and we will show you" Show us what? I dont see a cultural dance. Dont be so direspectful.

  • @retardedjoe12 a little white pussy like u cant fite 4 shit. The reason y da white rapist n murderers came 2 new zealand was because the dog lookin queen at da time had promised your ancestors land for every cheif they killed. Guess wat they cheated they were shit scared of us until they pulled the trigger y cause the white people were pussys that couldnt fite 4 shit but dey knew 2 use a gun bloody wankers

  • @retardedjoe12 @MrHairyRambo omg you guys talk too much shit lmao british satire themselves enough for the rest of us, and have been doing it since the beginning of time!

  • @kiwidiva

  • @MrHairyRambo , Well than maybe perhaps the engaylish should have just stayed in engayland and not have tried to force their engaylish ways down the throat of every native around the world. So it goes both ways.

  • As long as the White man leaves them alone they will be okay.

  • The thing I love about the Maori is that they are one of the only warrior tribes that give a respectful salute of wanting to kill you before turning you into human fece's. They pretty much warn you before you fight them, instead of charging into a one-sided blood bath. The Maori is definately one of the top warriors to fear and respect. They actually make me ashamed to be a normal city boy.

  • @TriviumFan15 Your first test of courage is the greatest, swallowing your pride long enough to walk onto a marae and seek guidance .. then perhaps you will understand what it is that flows through us all, out of this land, no matter what culture we come from.

  • @TriviumFan15 they were!

  • Ka pai koutou! Kia kaha koutou! Awesome mahi! Good on you for posting this and for the group performing. I've performed with friends from Waka Huia, Waihirere, Rangiwewehi, and other iwi. The thing that gets me about the pros is that they are about excellence and tradition but also innovation. The more things go old, the newer they get! Kia kaha koutou! Hei aha nga korero whakahawea! Hei kai ma te ware noa iho! Mauri Ora!

  • polycentre in Hawaii??? some of those performers look like island boys. some of that haka is not original either btw, why so protective??its the highest compliment to be copied??? its not like they doing it on tv or anything it was for class. Knowldge should be shared. ps watch Matatini now there are some winners for haka hard!

  • @rcortesi17 live in hawaii n see that it's not complimentary to be ripped off. of course matatini is the best but hello, we're in hawaii. anytime those roopu wanna come tautoko our whakataetae they are always welcome. kia ora!

  • i love the PPC :D

  • whats the name of this haka?

  • Sooo effing sexy.. just wanna cuddle up to them and not let go teehee,,, (First Nations. aka Native American from Canada)

  • ich finde diese art von musik, rythmus und darbietung faszinierend - ich mag es sehr !!!

  • This is a really good haka, liked it alot, do you know what the name of it is?

  • Comment removed

  • u 1sr need reason and there is only a few and its to protect ur honourwhatever that is good or bad che maori

  • mean maori

  • to fight you need the right mind, and if you happen to have great fitness well thats just a bonus ^^

  • there are women who are great warriors and i doubt they have balls or some huge muscles... so its basicly ur spirit and desire to fight

  • so true dude, so damn true

  • not the best iv seen..but good. see hpc haka

  • wehre are their muscle bodys:D:D

  • You don't need muscles as a Warrior,just Heart..

  • WOW.... this is the best HAKA i have ever seen in my life... and dam those guys are bangin.... lol but the haka was che bro!!!!

  • i agree with nzaroha

  • cool

  • @nzaroha actually we are maori living in hawaii with a desire to perpetuate our culture and pass it on to our tamariki and friends who have a passion to learn. maori are doing great things all over the world. hopefully one day you will travel and know that no matter where we go, we maintain our pride and represent our tupuna and respect this taonga that we feel privileged to be able to share with people everywhere.

  • @kiwidiva do you guys teach in maui?

  • @kiwidiva TRUE DAT......

  • @nzaroha Theyre fukd in da head

  • wow i would love to see them in person

  • go to P.C.C HAWAII

  • which haka is this one? anyone can tell me where can i find the lyrics as well as a proper translation? :)

  • um... no! watchu need that for?

  • well i have this dance festival in a month or so, and i'm going to dance the haka, but the teacher thought it was a cool idea to dance the song from the rugby world cup, i was thinking in something more traditional :)

so that's why i'm asking and lurking everywhere

  • Find the localisation you want ie New Zealand/Austrailian Maouri or a more tribal base ie the islands its performed on.

then watch it a few times, if it looks doable then by all means start a lyric search being specific about the place its from and you should find something, or listen to it enough till you pick it up.

  • then your question should have been anyone know how i can contact the person who wrote and choreographed this haka so i can ask for permission to perform it? you don't just help yourself (steal) what you have no right to. btw: no, i'[m not putting you in touch with the person who wrote this. i posted this to be enjoyed and appreciated - not to be ripped off.

  • well, then I have to ask... did you ask those perfomers to be allowed to publish their work for everyone to see on youtube?

  • oh nah, i just put my friends' work on you tube so that any tom, dick or harry that wants to can come rip it off! yes, this was performed in a public setting, yes, i put it on you tube - to be enjoyed by those of you not privileged enough to have been there that day! not so others can steal it and perform it like it's theirs. it's not just this guy - i have vids of my friends singing their original compositions in my backyard and peeps are asking for the words and translations.

  • there is no respect for intellectual property! the words and translations and the use of them are not mine to give. i just want to share the talent but that doesn't mean that it's put out there for anyone to take! if you want to do a haka - get permission and if you can't then WRITE YOUR OWN! it doesn't have to be in maori - write it in your own language so it has meaning for YOU! like UH that used to do a stolen haka but now they are pono and perform the HA'A - written by them for them!

  • I so agree with you.

Many of our taonga have been ripped off and used for off-shore money making ventures without consultation and approval from iwi- and it's not just the haka, but our moko, and ta moko. I don't mind the interest in our culture, am even flattered by it. But, have the decency to gain permission, and then do it JUSTICE.

Ford, Lego, Sony, that Italian car company, are all guilty of being cultural tahae.

Anyway, liked your comments. Mauri ora!

  • Do you even know who wrote and Choreographed this haka.?!

  • @824ALANA course i do and i asked him permission before i posted this clip.

  • @kiwidiva much respect.....chur bey

  • You need to do more than just lurk and start asking the right people - like the descendants of Te Rauparaha if you want to perform Ka Mate!

The bloody audacity of you to just want to "dance the haka". Seek and gain permission first, then 'dance' to your hearts content.

  • ohh well ladies i guess i got misunderstood here, well I'm from Mexico, in any ways related to the Tongan and Maori culture, but i love learning from other cultures, currently I'm training to perform Ka Mate, and i hope to do a good representation of it this weekend, i wanted to learn this haka in order to perform it and show the people from my city some other aspects from your culture, that's why i also asked for the lyrics in order to explain what this haka is about

  • Ka Mate is such an awesome chant about life and death, a celebration about being alive without fearing death, and maybe my words weren't the proper ones to express my wish

i didn't mean in any ways to offend your culture or mock em so i don't see why the hostility

    but thanks anyway

  • Thanks for your explanation, and I do apologise if I seemed harsh and hostile. Our culture get's ripped off, alot, and I was just venting about that.

Hope all goes well for you.

  • Loved the Haka! Very cool.

  • I would like to say, As an White Mountain Apache i am very Jealous that the Maori have managed to keep their Pride and Culture so alive, I am Proud of the Maori and have nothing but love and respect, while my own people's ways are slowly dieing at least i know are brothers and sisters in spirit, becouse i do believe we share same spirit, will not Die out. Please keep spreading Maori Tradition

  • @HowlsFury - Tena Koe, I sincerely hope for you, your people and your culture that God will hear my prayers that your culture will again grow strong amongst your people. I also believe we share the same spirit and wish you a peaceful life.

  • @HowlsFury maybe u hav seen it alredy bt search youtube for tuhoe resistance. its really worth watching

  • @HowlsFury hi mate heres a kicker for you lol i am part maori part navajo part white i just saw your comment on you tube about how maori have kept there culture alive. i know alot about our culture here cause i have lived in a heavly maori comunity but only 10% of maori even know there own language most cant even say morena kati pe he a que which means good morning how are you. maori was baned here back in the 50s almost died all together we are trying to get it back now

  • ALL YOU MOTHER FUKEN MAORI HATER; Z... I WOULD SMASH U IF I WAZ UR HEIGHT... I WOULD SMAH U AT THIS HEIGHT, DON'T DISS OUR CULTURE, NOTHING NICE TO SAY ? JUST GET THE FUK OFF ! • kia ora te hamua! yes, i do know who you are (even tho u ain't on MY tv!) this is an annual event at the polynesian cultural center in hawaii. we do have maori here and we also have a lot of MISUSE of haka. they started this competition so that all the schools and grid iron teams that are already doing stolen haka that they learned off the internet could come and learn it properly.

  • we only had 2 roopu take the challenge in 07 when this vid was shot. the comp is aug 8 this year so we hope 2 get more groups to enter and welcome all comers. of course the boys from home would waste us but if they can get the pingers together and get here, we welcome them to raise the level of our competition. just remember, these fullas are living overseas and don't have the luxury of being immersed in kapa haka or maori culture. we're doing the best we can!

  • we are proud to be maori too! we are also proud that people overseas have an appreciation for our culture that you don't always find in aotearoa with non-maori. our competition in hawaii last year attracted roopu from london, sydney, tokyo and of course hawaii (kauai and oahu). we are no where near the level of te matatini but our kaupapa is to perpetuate the culture for those of us who live overseas! we're doing the best we can with what we have.

  • Comment removed

  • nga uri o te whanoa will be conducting workshops tomorrow at the polynesian cultural center for those who want to learn about kapa haka and maybe compete in this year's POI E and HAKA HARD competitions in august. instead of just coming on here and belittling our efforts, they're actually coming to teach us and RAISE THE LEVEL OF THE COMPETITION!

bro, you're welcome to come and do the same anytime. bring a camera... we'd appreciate the publicity!

  • Comment removed

  • good for you kiwidiva! i appreciate your efforts and what you are doing, i get really annoyed at the arrogance of some of my people , i find it really embarassing how they have this holy-er than thou attitude, kia kaha and keep on keepin on!

  • ymhjrgjhjurthuujbjke,

why are you upset? i dont know if you are amd at the maoris or mad at these guys. which is it?

  • tehamua, why you have to talk crap for? these guys are trying. if they not good enough for you just dont say anything. yes its on hawaii. its probably the best you will find in hawaii so just be grateful!you probably one of those maoris who dont know jack!!! so just sit in front of your computer and eat your meat pie, peanut slab and drink your L & P and just relax. so sad that others trying to portray your culture and you gotta be a hater.
