  • Love this song! Assyrian For Ever!!

  • Wunderschön!!!!

  • Fascinating to hear Aramaic being spoken!!

Can the Aramaic speakers here understand this: Yehe ra'awa qadamakh d'tiftaH libi beoraitha, wetashlin mish3alin delibi leTav uleHayin welishlam?

I wonder how closely the Aramaic we Jews still pray in is related to the Aramaic you speak!

  • Hasbani7:

To say that this song is in Aramaic is not a precise statement. while it is a historic fact that Aramaic, Arabic, Assyrian (Syriac), Hebrew, .. belong to the same language family, each of them over the course of history evolved separately just like the European languages which belong to Greek. This song in particular is in the Assyrian language. This language still possesses vocabulary dates back to the ancient Assyrians/Babylonians

  • Thanks for your reply and that clarification, Samodesara. Still, can you understand any of the Aramaic I wrote above? My main desire is to understand how close Modern Syriac is to Judeo-Aramaic dialects spoken 2000 years ago.

  • Let me try, did you say:

(Before you I open my heart by the Bible to be in peace.)

    Did I catch something?
