I am using Windows 7. The game is doing exactly what you show and I cannot fix no matter what i try. Your link doesn't work, can you help me please? Would really like to finally play this game again...
Got the graphics fixed, thanks a bunch for that, does anyone know how to play the game multiplayer over a LAN? I have been fiddling with the TCP/IP for a while now and havent had any luck
This worked perfectly, on Windows 7 64-bit too. This was one of my favourites when I was a kid. It's good to be able to play some of my older games every now and then.
I play this game on my MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard... didn't need the .dll file. I used the application "Crossover" to open the game and it works like a charm.
So for any of ya folks who run a Mac and wanted to know if it plays fine, yes it does.
Thanks a lot!!!! It really works...but now I need to buy an older computer which is slower...mine is too fast and I'm playing/watching everything in the speed light :))
Thanks greatly my friend, this is one of my favorite games from my younger years but the video was off just like you showed, but now I can play it all I want. Great program!!!
i got this problem ... and when i put the dll there and want to start the game it dont start ... it do nothing ... :( i dont know why ... when i delete dll from there it start but still that problem .... :'(
It worked! Thanks man, I was afraid I would never get to play this game again!
I have Vista, and I have had nothing but trouble getting ANY old games to work. I tried 7th Legion, had the exact problem you showed. Tried compatability mode, even tried running in dosbox (don't bother, it won't even attempt to run it), and nothing worked until I found this. :)
Thank you. I have downloaded the DDRAW.dll from your site. Previously I have mistyped the link. An advise for everybody please use only the DDRAW.dll from Deeem2031´s site. Other sources will give an error. Note that Deeem contains 3 pieces of "e". Danke für deine Hilfe.
I had the same problem, but i fixed it differently (in Windows XP). Right click on the icon/properties/compatibility and then check the box "run in 256 colors".
Have you tried reducing the hardware acceleration settings? I've lost my copy of 7th Legion, so I can't test it there, but had this kind of problems with Destruction Derby 2 and Shogo, which where fixed by disabling/reducing video hardware acceleration at the control panel.
Hmm... The game now goes correctly, except for the aforementioned background videos, and the fact that the screen annoyingly flickers from time to time...
Great job! I completed this game when I was 11 and now 10 years later without playing it i've done it again. Tryed it a while ago on my old computer and the graphics error just annoyed me, thanks for giving me a hell of alot of flash backs and this awesome game.
I really tried to find the problem but neither my version of the Legion.exe nor my DDRAW.dll uses "makecriticalsectionglobal". It could be that there are differences between the "Legion.exe"s in the different languages which produce the problem. I use a german game version, so if u have another language you may send me the legion.exe via email (webmaster(at)deeem2031(dot)de).
I searched a bit in inet for makecriticalsectionglobal and the solution i found was that your d3d9.dll (in Windows\System32) is too old and cause this problem. I dont know if this really works but they wrote you have to replace it with a newer d3d9.dll or delete it and reinstall directx9.
I ve downloaded dll file but when I try to run the game it says the procedure entry point make criticalsectionglobal could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll. so what should I do
Hey man! thank you for this! I played demo of 7th Legion years ago and few days ago i just remember this game. But have this problem. That dll solve it and i have Vista. Iam going finally to play this :)
7th legion sux, was going comeout for n64 but starcraft owned lol, anyways when i tried dl and put the ddraw.dll onto the folder it says some file not found in kernel 32, im going try again though
No, all you have to do is to save the ddraw.dll (do -not- rename the file) into the 7th legion main directory on your hdd (where the "legion.exe" is), this should fix the problem.

I was pointed here by a friendly YouTuber. Not sure if it works on my system yet, but I'll certainly give it a go as my PC runs both Win7 and XP.

Do you have a multi-core processor?
Use Task Manager (ctrl+alt+delete) to make legion.exe use only one processor/core.

Tnx dude for sharing that...I didn't know till now how to do that. I'm such a noob! :)
