I think that since it it tamed it might not make it in the wild readily, so setting it free might kill her. I did enjoy the video, the bird has a lot of personality. Looks like a young Starling.
I really like this bird. I, too, had a little stab of sadness that she was put in a cage. But if your mother has only had that bird for a few days and it jumps on peoples' fingers, eats from tweezers and isn't trying madly to get out, I have to wonder if she was born NOT to be wild. Conundrum.
Yeah Mom wasn't planning on keeping her that long and now she rides on the dog's back and tries to get at my cats from under the door...doesn't seem to know that animals can be dangerous now.
I got a call from my mother, a couple weeks ago because a sparrow had flown into her house. Mum is terrified of birds! So, I had to go over there, catch the terrified little critter with a small towel and then let it go in the garden. It was as cute as a very, very cute thing... But it tried as hard as it could to bite me. Ho hum... You try to help some folks...
do they poop all over the place?

It finally decided to fly out the door one day and join the other neighborhood birds. Mom says she thinks she sees it from time to time.

She was just being kept in a cage we had overnight, which she seems to be able to get out of anyway. She hasn't been in there all the time.

cute bird, but you should try to let him go.. i always had the opinion that animals (whatever especies) belong to nature.. ;)
well, anyways, you know his situation better than me.. :)
