Judas Maccabaeus is sometimes regarded as Handel's second best oratorio. I would like to draw your attention to some of Handel's other great oratorios. Hercules, Semele, Alexander Balus, Solomon and Theodora are masterworks that should not be forgotten. And don't forget the other great stuff, like Acis & Galathea, L'Allegro, Dixit Dominus, Alkexander's Feast, Ode for St. Cecilia's Day and so on. Ok?
@cousinjk All things considered, It must be "Messiah". And that is what most people will say. Handel himself seems to have regarded "Theodora" as his best. As with all things, It's ultimately a matter of personal taste. But "Messiah" is without doubt the most popular.
How blessed he was to be able to sit down and alow this to flow from his mind, onto those sheets of paper all that time ago!! No electonic synths or computers to aid in his quest for perfection... Just shear genius
This recording by King is very good and I also have the version by Charles McKerrias. Handel's Saul by Gardiner is a romantic/tragic piece and Israelis in Eygpt by Preston is inspirational. All three have magnificant choral pieces. Great to listen to when driving alone on deserts and mountains and no radio signals.
Yeah, Judas Maccabaeus is one of my favorites Handel's Oratorios too. And this recording is very good, except maybe the tenor voice which is a little weird in my opinion.
You can find others parts of this Oratorio in you tube, uploaded by others youtubers.
can u upload any more judas maccabeus choruses, like the one dat has a part that goes like "we worship God, and god alon"..i dun remember the title..lol
