I am thanfkul for a Father who truly resembled this song. After he died, this song was my reassurance that I not forget his living testimony, but continue his message. I was truly blessed. Gordon was his name, but to me, my Father was how I knew and cherished him. He really did practice what he believed. He was obedient of the scripture to honor widows and care for the orphans.
This is sung in our church by a very talented, sensitive man. I have tears every time he sings it. Thank you Skip and Monte for this beautiful, poignant song. :)

Time changes everything, Health, Wealth, Love, and hurt will all pass in presence of old father time. Nothing is forever except memories and the time spent reminiscing them.
the next time you pass by the lord on the street, dont be so hatefull to him. it is a test to your temperment. share with him as you will be rewarded and reminded of who he was that day. graciousness in heaven as you gave that day. times a million.
a great song by one of america's finest writer/musicians. this song is has so much depth and sincerity. the words are very touching., simple, yet profoundly moving. all about heart
"I try hard to practice the words that I preach..." We could all do so much better in this world if we put pride, prejudice and self aside to help those less fortunate and in true need. "There's treasure in heaven for the generous few..." Amen, Skip!
What an inspiring message from a talented, classy gentleman! Thankyou so much for posting!

No one makes this kind of country music anymore. Such a great story of life and full of wisdom.
