great video. any chance of communicating with you directly via email/skype? i am so close to getting done what I need in excel...... but need some expert input to finalize
Great video, helped me out of a pickle! i used this method for 3 lookup values! And a so called "expert" told me it couldnt be done! ExcellsFun youve shown yet again you are the Excell Master! Thanks
@husyadaddynoodle , I am glad that this video helped! There is no doubt that if someone tells you that it can't be done in Excel, it usually can be done (not always, but usually)!
Great video. I need to do a VLook on feet and year. Years will be 2010 & 2011. The footage is from 25ft to 75ft. Each year 25ft pricing is different. Is it possible to do a VLookup? Entering the year and then footage and the you get your price. Thanks.
ExcelIsfun. I have no other words to say but a Huge thank you! I love all your videos. They are really a life saver!! Thanks a lot for all the effort you have put on them! It's greatly appreciated :-)
We still have to be careful because if we send our workbook with the IFERROR to other people that don't have Excel 2007, then will get a #NAME? error. I just wish that everyone (including businesses) would be kind to themselves and get the new version because there are many elements like this IFERROR that are much better than earlier versions. Excel 2010 is coming out next April, so maybe then more people will upgrade!
In particular, for large spreadsheets, IFERROR is much faster calculating that the old way we did it with "If(ISERROR" and listing the bulk of the formula twice.
Seems very interesting :P. I have yet to find a practical application of VLOOKUP as mostly what I do on Excel is mess around, the only serious spreadsheet I created was way before I started watching your tutorials - although I have since made some changes to make it look better after watching your vids :P.

@husyadaddynoodle great start to my issue, BUT i need HELP!!!
I have 2 worksheets within 1 file. There are 10 columns (identical fields in BOTH worksheets)
I want to compare column C in wrksht 1, to column C in wrksht 2
IF 2 cells are identical between the 2 worksheets, I want to extrapolate the email adres to a 3rd wrksht
MY ROUGH LOGIC IS BELOW
=1c = 2c then DISPLAY
STEP 2 Macro -- this is a more advanced formula for comparing MULTIPLE columns
=1(x+y+z) = 2(x y z), then DISPLAY

I learned about the IFERROR here, I always use If(ISERROR at work, IFERROR is much simpler.

VLOOKUP is one of the most common functions used in the working world.
Interviewers love to ask people if they can use VLOOKUP.
ExcelIsFun 2 years ago
that is true! Mynotoar shocks me with his comment

Well, shocking people is a speciality of mine.

What is great about being human is that we are lucky to meet all sorts!!
ExcelIsFun 2 years ago
I didn't say it had no use, I meant that *I* haven't thus far found a scenario in which to use VLOOKUP.
