Geez. I always pity Ma Chao. Especially when he hits his fist against the tree and goes "oww..". I pity him even more then. But I don't know if he defected from Liu Bei army or just fights with them hesitantly (after the Guan Yu avenging battle). But anyway I just feel sorry for the guy, in history OR in the game. KOEI, you ruined him geez. Except for the excellent voice acting which combines great emotion, sense of duty and grudges.

I just feel sorry for him all along the way.

@soulslayer55000 I wouldn't say Ma Chao was equal to Zhao Yun, but he definitely comes close. Though he is faster than Zhao Yun and can possibly defeat him in 1 on 1 combat, Zhao Yun is a much better field general than Ma Chao. Ma Chao is quick to anger and falls for many ambushes, which usually takes a toll on the army, whereas Zhao Yun completes most of his missions with success and minimal casualties.

Since he helped conquer Yi, he was promised with a rank or title controlling a portion of Han Zhong when they take it from Xiahou Yuan. Ma Chao only knew officers stationed on the frontlines on Wei, he barely or didn't know much of the Shu officers in Jing or Yong An.
