Wow, I love John Smotlz and have my whole life. I am not a Christian but I have the utmost admiration and respect for him as an athlete, professional, and great guy. I had the pleasure to meet him when I was 13.

OMG... This is so foul. The Braves franchise sucks.. How could you not do whatever it took to keep SMOLTZ here? He has dedicated his whole career to this team and I'm sure it wasn't easy he endured more than we will ever know. I am still in shock, I wanted to see him end his career here, and I know he did too..I will miss you , Your California fan.. Lights out, you are no longer in the house!!

Not only do I hate the Red Sox, but I love John Smoltz.

According to the Boston Herald, John Smoltz is the "top target" for the Red Sox in their search for starting pitching depth.

Smoltz is expected to begin meeting with teams next week and the Sox have already been told that they are contenders. The 41-year-old might not be ready to pitch until May, but that shouldn't be a problem for Boston.

Free agent John Smoltz and his agent have told the Red Sox that they are one of six teams under consideration as possible landing spots this winter.

It's going to be awfully difficult for Smoltz to leave Atlanta, but if he does, Boston would be a great fit for him. The Red Sox can afford to pay him and to give him any time off that he needs to manage his troublesome shoulder.
