Annie, for the first time in any of her videos, does an excellent job of describing a problem (cap & trade) with actual factual data. And for as much of the video as she is directly talking about cap & trade, she's being honest and educational. It's once she starts talking about other stuff that it becomes dangerous propaganda. Search "Story of Cap & Trade, The Critique" for an explanation of what she says that's wrong.
This is the third video I've seen from this channel, and it is the third in a row that proposes laws as the solution to a problem. Laws are the reason these problems exist in the first place. The answer is not to hire goons with guns to shoot people who do things we don't like. That won't work. We need to convince them to stop doing what we don't like by not paying them to continue doing it.
Don't stare yourself blind on the issue of CO2, which is exactly what media and the men in power wants... Why? They can tax you and make money on the public misconception that CO2 is such a dangerous "greenhouse-gas", It's not - really. CO2 levels has increased dramatically the last 30 000 thousand years all by itself, and we've contributed in a minor effect since some 5000-6000 years ago, when we went to agricultural living and deforestation started.

@carbonandbone Yeah, Carbon is eeeeeeeeeeeeevil. Plants totally don't need it to survive. Goldman Sachs had nothing to do with introducing Cap and Trade. Tax me more! Tax me more! Increase my energy bills! Increaes fuel prices! I love being a slave.
@historypoliticsbb say your house set to 3 on the thermostat is just right not too hot and not too cold. now somebody turns the knob up to 4 and the house is too hot things become really uncomfortable.
You have 3 choices.
1) open a window
2) turn the thermostat to 3
3) Be uncomfortable and live with the extra heat.
Only an idiot would do anything but number 2
The earth was in balance, carbon being added to the air was being sequestered. Now we are adding more an the earth is getting hotter
@angrywhenroused Your lack of understanding of climatology is astounding. Carbon ppm was 7,000 in Cambrian period, 18 times higher than now, possibly 2,000 ppm during the Medieval Warm Period.
Now it's only 389 ppm. We've all been conned. There's nothing wrong with admitting it.
@historypoliticsbb you are seriously going to fetch that into a climate argument. A time when there was hardly any sea ice and seas where well over an 100 Meters higher. I wonder what sort of freaky weather they had, I can't imagine a climate like that being able to sustain 7 billion people
@angrywhenroused Er, yes I am going to quote actual facts and statistics into a discussion about climatology. The central point is that any study of the history of the climate shows that climate change is clearly not man-made. Even *if* we were headed for a Day After Tommorrow scenario (which we aren't) there would be nothing we could do about it.
Climate change has been going on for 4.5 billion years. Why do you have a problem with it now?
As someone who has persistently despaired about the liberal/left's ability to come up with arguments that will appeal to voters other than themselves, that draws in outsiders rather than repelling them, this is the most hopeful series of presentations I've ever seen. Well done.
Bigger crisis than the World Wars where over 100 million people lost there lives needlessly?
Bigger crisis than the black dealth which killed 1 in 3 people in Europe?
Bigger crisis than world hunger?
Bigger crisis than the Cuban Missile Crisis?
Global warming will rise sea levels which will not harm humanity to the extent of those above. And other affects aren't clear. Read up on the milankavitch cycle. But good points are made in this video.
If she was confident in her message why does she have to use imagery that best suits the ideas instead of showing it a face value? This is what the Soviet Union did with their children.
Matter of fact you could look at some of those vids right here on youtube.
@POPCANA Socialist propaganda by who? For what purpose? Is she incorrect? How does convincing me that these are technical threats harm me or my economy? If she is wrong or lying and I believe it anyways, who benefits? How does the correlation with the Soviet Union's strategy impact the legitimacy of the message?
@aphoxema Every attempt to point out the self destructive nature of our current paradigm is automatically labeled "Communism" , "Socialism" and so on. Taking care of each other , sharing , creating a sustainable future equals oppression , starvation and death :P With the same train go thought you can say that freedom & democracy leads to illegal invasions to steal resources , corruption and child labour.
@z3r0Projects In capitalism, you become wealthy by serving humanity. If people give you money, that means you did something that they value. Naturally, most everyone will act according to their own self interest, thus making them do things that people want.
Theft, child labor and 'illegal invasions' you mentioned is what the government and law are for to stop. Encourage the government to focus on just that and we'll all be fine. Thank you for reading, and I hope you understand.
@TheDavoo Unfortunately the reality is that governments use the law to engage in theft , child labour and invasions to become wealthy. Isn't that a clear sign that the system is inherently corrupt? Laws are patches to fix a broken system, the more flaws the more laws you need. It's time to consider something completely new. Something that works for everyone , not just the wealthiest minority. Forget about this left / right bullshit i read everywhere. This is about the survival of humanity.
@TheDavoo If capitalism would work , the wealthiest people would be those that contribute the most to society like scientists and teachers. But the most wealthy people seem to contribute NOTHING at all... Investment bankers , hedge fund managers and so on. Just moving currency...
@z3r0Projects Ah, but 'moving currency' as you call it is exactly how good societies are built. Scientists wouldn't be able to do much without rich guys giving them grants; teachers have to have facilities and buildings owned by rich people (except for public schools); many inventions and products that were really expensive at first (read: just about every major invention ever) were able to be profitable because of the rich, then eventually lower in price and help the world. Thank you.
Ah climate change fails to look at the biggest source of warming....the SUN!!! I am all for cleaner air and a healthier planet but saying that CO2 is the main problem is a big mistake and completely distracts from other problems like GMO foods. What will you do when they start taxing you for breathing??? Think about it.
The world is DYING and the science behind it is EXTREMELY comprehensible. And yet none of you seem to understand. Come on people, take a stand. This is urgent.
@ffgamera Let's hear some of that "science" please. Climate change is normal, our planet has been going through climate change as long as it has existed, there is nothing to suggest that man is causing climate change. I am all for less pollution and cleaner water and air, but just for the fact that I like breathing and drinking water! Carbon levels were HIGHER before man walked the earth, we have gone through TWO Ice Ages...both without man.
@dturner05 I agree with you that some of all this doomsday stuff blasted at us might not be true, but consider this - when CO2 level rises, ice melts. Alot of fresh water(the Greenland ice) will flow into the Atlantic, it will mess up the Golf Stream, turning it off and within ten years Europe would be under ice. I agree that all facts aren't there, but we are messing with big ecological things here, things best to be left alone and the earth work in natural cycles without human interference.
This idea that we in the west somehow owe the third world money is crazy, keep me out of this shit. The best way, IMHO, is to set carbon limits to products (so that it doesn't just outsource the co2 production to somewhere else) and let the free market design solutions. Solar electricity could cut both our coal,.and if you use solar thermal panels (that are VERY cheap) to raise the temperature of your incoming water it will allow you to maintain hot water and heat with MUCH LESS energy use.
How about we start with a couple facts. We will NEver stop climate change because it is a natural cycle which has been occurring since time began. HOW about you call your mission to stop pollution... NOW, what is a pollutant? NOT Carbon dioxide! Carbon dioxide is what Plants breath! Plants then "breath" out OXYGEN, which, of course, we need to breath. SO, attacking carbon emissions as the problem is a DANGEROUS DISTRACTION!
@45AlanT The problem is there is more CO2 in the atmosphere than plants need for photosynthesis. Thats why things like deforestation add to climate change. Less plants = less CO2 conversion. Also, i think i would help if we specified the definition of "climate change" as the effect humans have had on the atmosphere. Obviously the earth's climate changes naturally, but its a bit of a stretch to think the spike in greenhouse gases since the dawn of the industrial revolution is just a coincidence.
@45AlanT are we not emitting too much carbon dioxide? When we build factories AND cut down forests, we are messing with the natural photosynthesis. Carbon dioxide is good and natural and all, but too much of anything thats good is never beneficial.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
The whole global warming scare is a scam in the first place, and carbon dioxide isnt a pollutant its feeds photosynthesis, what a half ass documentary therefore bullshit sorry..
I would have to admit this is a good intorduction on cap and trade however , this documentary is relying heavily on the apocalytic prediction of the IPCC; rising waters as well as the misconception of c02 and its actual benefit vs detriment.
Stop reading the al gore book An Incoveniant Truth, the person who is finance in this carbon cap trade scheme himself.
Is it actualy true that the US subsidises fosil fues with exactly twice the rate as renewable energies?!? Please can you tell me where you got these facts from. Amazing video
I think they got that from a few documents released after the Bush administration. And speaking of the Bush administration...they're one of the reasons why the U.S is subsidizing fossil fuels more than they really have to. Bush has ties with the oil companies...you do the math.
How about just stop buying all this stuff and live off what you need? That is 3500-4000 pounds a year is max what you NEED to live and prosper. Just stop consuming, no? Riight, but that involves YOU to change something about YOURSELF. Noo, let's change the world instead.
@sandslash123 what she says to ppl is to take the initiative to learn and become active if humans to survive at all. this affects as all not just CEO's who think that peoples domain is to be obidient and inactive. I dont see a bad thing in this. She does say in other vidios ab consumption and its effects.. BTW the world didnt become as it is due to natural order of things....
@sandslash123 Oh stop being so melodramatic you prick. You're typing this on a computer made with parts originating from the Congo mineral wars which have claimed over 5,000,000 lives.
@sandslash123 Of course, how didn't we think of this earlier? Just take time during the day in between those 2 jobs, with a mind filled with mortgages, helping your children get good education since the schools aren't doing it, and trying to stay healthy with workout and locating cheaper organic produces, so that you can stop consuming what the corporations are throwing in your face every step of the way, while all they have to say is: "It isn't our fault our marketing is so successful".
@io100ja You made the first mistake when took a morgage. Then you made a second mistake build on first one - get married whilst you are in debt, cuz now you will destroy not only your life but lives of your family members as well if you will not make a third mistake.. and so on and so forth. And all of that would be easily avoided if you would spend time reporting yourself a feedback of your actions. No mortgage->no need for 2 jobs->more time for introspection->more knowledge->knowledge=wealth.
@sandslash123 I agree knowledge IS wealth therefore if you really seek I advise you to read Noam Chomsky's top 10 media manipulation techniques especially the "Self-blame" strategy.
Btw I'm not from the US so I don't have those problems yet. What I am witnessing is the implementation of that broken system in my country and others, by glorifying it and have a natural fear for my future children.
@sandslash123 Still I'm finding it interesting why do you oppose the idea of reform so strongly. What are you afraid of? You have the knowledge => you have the wealth, why the need to have such a strict rule book on how to "make it" in this society? Aren't people allowed to make mistakes any more? Do they need permission to be depressed, or failures even?
@io100ja I believe that I don't oppose anything :) I think this world is great with all the starvation and wars and everything. So many mistakes/catalisators to learn from to never do it myself.
@deadheart130 Monckton is liar and has been caught redhanded manipulating data and falsifying sources. DO NOT BELIEVE MONCKTON. He is the biggest troll of all time.
Climate change is a hoax, Al Gore and his cronies cooked up this scam to enslave all of us, more than what we are now. Watch any Lord Monckton video or read his articles, he has debunked climate change and has even offered to debate Al Gore in an open forum on it. Now "climate pollution" is another matter, I agree we do pollute and are callous when it comes to mother nature, I believe we need to be more conscious about trash and recycling goods, placing deposits / refunds on all recyclables.
What do you think would happen if youth stopped buying stuff? What if we didn't buy that new ph, that new camera, that new haircut, those overpriced jeans made from GM cotton in some over-polluted country, that latest toxic meal deal or the latest drink craze?
All this stuff is aimed at us. Why? Because we're gullible and vulnerable to swallow the 'without this stuff your social status - aka your LIFE - is over. Saying 'no thanks' to corpmania marketing slavery is a small step to freedom.
The elite made up global warming so that they could rule the world by creating international laws and make huge profits from cap&trade as shown in this video.
@HazelLovesHim so if it is NORMAL how do you control it, earthquakes tsunamis hurricanes are natural=they cant be controlled, you mean how it usually never snowed 4 inches in TX but now it snow regulary? That 'warming for you!, so by destroying our already broken economy she has a point?
They call it global warming, but in some places it would get colder rather then warmer. BUT thats still bad for the enviroment, because the plants and animals are used to the warm enviroment in that area will die from the tempature change. oh yea, and over all the world as a whole will get warmer, alot warmer. but that wont matter by 2100. will all be dead by then at this rate (:
@skulls704 "so if it is NORMAL how do you control it, earthquakes tsunamis hurricanes are natural=they cant be controlled"assuming the plants don't change in reaction to the environment,it is normal for the earth
to go on warm cold warm cold cycles,it happen in the middle ages, was called mini ice age, and was hundreds of years before industrialization, and some year before that, in the early middle ages there was a warm cycle
I'm afraid that the solutions proposed by this video - "Solid Caps, Strong Laws, Citizen Action, and Carbon Fees" - will also be subject to fraud and meddling by big business. If we see these problems as constants, then Cap & Trade's benefit of matching those with money with the lowest cost solutions via the marginal abatement cost curve is tremendously valuable. We need to begin with the lowest-cost opportunities in this global challenge.
6:00 Imagine the human arrogance to think that we can destroy this planet.
HHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA
Will we make it unsuitable FOR US? You betcha!
But the earth will always return. Life will continue. Just w/o human like it did for BILLIONS OF YEARS. Oh the arrogance!!!
Yes we may die out (maybe TOTAL extinction) but life and the earth will continue. We cannot kill the earth or destroy it. We will kill OURSELVES first.
@2eelShmeal That is true when we kill ourselves though evolution will take its course and hopefully making a smarter lifeform than us hairless monkeys
it's a fraud. it's not the biggest crisis of anywhere or anything. it is fake. climate change has always occured. remember, it was global warming. then blah blah, then blah blah blah, then.....whatever. The rothschilds made up another lie and will get the media to call you names unless you support it. get it yet. same as anything. a conspiracy theory is whatever the zionists are lying about to gain more money or power. they are sorry as thieves.
Does anyone know why climate change is going to worsen the agricultural situation in Africa? I understand that a good amount of them being equatorial nations, they'll be the most intensely hit by global warming but how will that directly affect agriculture?
@shumugga I think it's because global warming will increase droughts in Africa, so agriculture will weaken and people will starve (like what's going on in Somalia right now!).

Great explanation of the idea. You must first though look at the original research that suggests carbon as a "climate changer". It is bogus. I know that many are concerned for the environment as am I, but the whole 'carbon emissions and climate change' shuffle is in and of itself a large distraction. My only question is whether anyone can explain something ever without the interjection of their own opinion?
Excellent explanation. It's unfortunate that Australia is introducing a Carbon Tax then moving onto an ETS (Cap & Trade) scheme which as this discussion talks about, will do little if anything to help the environment but just make some economists rich. Sad day for Australia, sad day for the globe.
You skip over the entire significant human contribution/causation to climate change scare. Please check out a graph of temperatures from the Greenland ice cores going back to the Pleistocene (the ice age - a statistically significant period of time.) Natural processes (solar fluctuation, volcanic activity, water vapor vs CO2 % absorption, etc) account for far more change than our puny 150 years of industry. Global Cooling - it's the new Global Warming! Enjoy the warmth while it lasts!
@jepkratz The carbon theory doesn't make sense. If heat causes CO2 and CO2 amplifies heat then why would we ever get out of an interglacial? wouldn't it continue spiral out of control?
thumbs up if you've looked up total outgoing longwave radiation. Ha!
@H2drO34 its just a shame that returds like you dont give a CRAP ABOUT THE ACTUAL TRUTH, BUT MINDLESSLY SAY STUPID DUMBASS THINGS LIKE WOMEN DRIVERS, yes im a girl, but when i come of age, i will hunt you down, run you over, stab you 100 times, skin you, then roast you over a spit and feed you to the wolves. Have a nice life. ^-^
Annie Leonard sounds just like the politicians she is criticing....slow down on the end of the world scenario, we have a hell of a long way to go before an island sinks into the ocean and pure supply demand dinamics would transition us off fossil fuels. The EPA is up to their own tricks and pretty much in bead with cap and trade. It seems the scientists pushing climate change are working harder to cover their false data then pushing out real data. Lets slow down $500 Oil = Starvation
@dduras That's the very peak of the entire problem there, everybody believing there is still time. How long are you planning to wait? Untill you have 30°C in the winter?
Sure you will still propably die of old age, but you better tell your kids to teach your grandchildren how to swim early.
@cathrasher1974: Do you know what "pollutant" means? Do you know what acceptable concentrations are? Just because its naturally occurring doesn't mean its good for the earth.
If we followed the US Constitution, "equal protection" would mean something. But the unelected fourth branch of government -- the immense, unaccountable federal bureaucracies -- like the EPA, doesn't give a damn what you, congress, nor I think -- what's fair -- or whether the Constitution authorizes its existence. Which is something to think about long and hard in 2012. It's all about money. You want the EPA deciding where America's money goes? EPA fees/fines are taxation without representation.
Why not a resource based economy? The cash-based economy was the most boring system I've ever seen. And Mother Nature does not accept money in exchange for his life that remains.
Do you think you're going to have an "equal world" with the cap and trade and carbon taxes like Australia? Check out this video on YouTube about immigration and the world poor: "Immigration by the Numbers -- Off the Charts" Watch it and let me know what you think.
Why send stones at me huh? I made some bad your shit? If you continue to do Ciyber bullyng I'll report you to youtube. You hardly know what I'm talking about and is just talking mouths. you need study better to know rather than negative criticism. SHUT UP!
The mulatto presidint lived age 8 to11 Kenya trailer park. His daddy done up and run off with another white women. His gramma had to take him in He Smart and promise cap and trade making energy cost skyrocket and shit
Plus China build 61 new coal plants last 5 months so it all gooD
Global warming is caused by sunspots. Climate change is natural. During the Medieval ages there was farming in Greenland! The average temperatures were way higher than they are now. Scientists have proven that CO2 level increase follows temperature increases.
@wildcat236 Do you know how a greenhouse works? Do you know what causes temperatures to rise in a greenhouse? Have you ever heard of an gas-powered automobile? Do you know what a gas-powered automobile produces? What do you think would happen if you left a gas-powered automobile running in a greenhouse?
@pgdevil do you know what the oregon petition is? Do you know what the number one greenhouse gas is? Do you know what the medieval warm period is? Do you know what climate-gate is? Did you know that only 3% of CO2 in the atmosphere is man-made?
@xxmehmahcookiesxx From 1997 to now the temperature has declined. In the medieval ages temperature rose. We have no effect on the climate. If we do its a negligible amount. Only 3% of CO2 in the atmosphere is "man-made".
@xxmehmahcookiesxx Instead of just doubting it, research it!! That's what i did. I used to believe in man-made global warming, then I did some research and I'm on the other side. The leading "scientists" in support of man-made global warming were caught skewing statistics to make it look like the world was getting hotter. Ever hear of climategate?
Sorry but true market solutions work. True that there are loopholes but that is exactly what needs to change. Cutting the throat of the same businesses which would ultimately solve the problem is not the solution. A simple carbon market where companies are charged directly for carbon output with no offsets would work very smoothly because it's simple and has a built in incentive for companies to develop green tech. Don't shoot the horse because it can't clear the hurdle, train it.
hello. liberals make liberals look bad by underestimating the potential of the profit motive. the only valid criticism she made was against the free credits and offset policy. those could be changed with some regulation but listen to what da bitch says at the end, she's just after purely legally based, government initiated caps. you have to work with corporations to get the market on board and you HAVE to get da market on board, corporations are BIGGER THAN COUNTRIES and they are not going away
I agree that cap and trade is an idiotic plan. But honestly people, please search (on youtube or google) for a film from the BBC titled: The great global warming swindle. You will not regret it!
@canawareness "The Great Global Warming Swindle" was not made by the BBC, it's just some bullshit docudrama made by Mark Durkin on Channel 4. People: if you want a real BBC documentary with real, credible climate scientist, look up "BBC Horizon: Science Under Attack."
it is so simply... the disgusting greed and it is accepted till this day, accepted as more humane fake and, nevertheless, the evil par excellence in which the human look forward slowly indeed to her end.
Can anyone tell me how to move this video into an editing program? My school is making me do a review of this video and I dont know how to get the video
I am a liberal environmentalist, even I find this grating and obnoxious.
Here is my rule of thumb; if your political argument relies on an apocalypse to make a point, you are not thinking of an argument based on reason or logic. Recyling metal is great. curbing emissions is practical to maintain predictable climate for our agricultural needs, clean oceans keeps fish alive and delicious, wide wilderness means I have less bears knocking over my garbage and living modestly means I have more money
Yes, humans need to take care of the planet better. We do need to be careful we are not railroaded into a ‘for or against’ debate as to whether we should be looking after the planet. "If you do not believe what we say then you must be part of the problem". It will always be presented as such because that creates opposing views and what better way to maintain a course of action. It is the age old ‘divide and conquer’ method of manipulating the majority toward a pre-determined course of action.
Monetary economics will never allow a prosperous community-centered economy. The cyclical consumption is unnecessary if everything that you own works well and does not need to be replaced. Technology can improve while displacing jobs, but the wealth of the production can still be given to the community. Please, everyone, check out the Zeitgeist Movement or the Venus Project, and inform yourself of a resource based economy!!!!
We are been royally fckud over in more ways than you can imagine, and it is presentations like this that lead well meaning people right down the path. This cannot be stated in some oversimplified cartoon. That in itself is a testament to the degree we have allowed ourselves to be dumbed down and brainwashed.
you don't understand economics very well do you?

"Biggest crisis humanity has ever faced"?
Bigger crisis than the World Wars where over 100 million people lost there lives needlessly?
Bigger crisis than the black dealth which killed 1 in 3 people in Europe?
Bigger crisis than world hunger?
Bigger crisis than the Cuban Missile Crisis?
Global warming will rise sea levels which will not harm humanity to the extent of those above. And other affects aren't clear. Read up on the milankavitch cycle. But good points are made in this video.

@aphoxema It's socialist propaganda.
If she was confident in her message why does she have to use imagery that best suits the ideas instead of showing it a face value? This is what the Soviet Union did with their children.
Matter of fact you could look at some of those vids right here on youtube.
POPCANA 2 months ago
@POPCANA Socialist propaganda by who? For what purpose? Is she incorrect? How does convincing me that these are technical threats harm me or my economy? If she is wrong or lying and I believe it anyways, who benefits? How does the correlation with the Soviet Union's strategy impact the legitimacy of the message?
aphoxema 2 months ago
@aphoxema Every attempt to point out the self destructive nature of our current paradigm is automatically labeled "Communism" , "Socialism" and so on. Taking care of each other , sharing , creating a sustainable future equals oppression , starvation and death :P With the same train go thought you can say that freedom & democracy leads to illegal invasions to steal resources , corruption and child labour.
z3r0Projects 2 months ago 8
@z3r0Projects In capitalism, you become wealthy by serving humanity. If people give you money, that means you did something that they value. Naturally, most everyone will act according to their own self interest, thus making them do things that people want.
Theft, child labor and 'illegal invasions' you mentioned is what the government and law are for to stop. Encourage the government to focus on just that and we'll all be fine. Thank you for reading, and I hope you understand.
TheDavoo 3 days ago
@TheDavoo Unfortunately the reality is that governments use the law to engage in theft , child labour and invasions to become wealthy. Isn't that a clear sign that the system is inherently corrupt? Laws are patches to fix a broken system, the more flaws the more laws you need. It's time to consider something completely new. Something that works for everyone , not just the wealthiest minority. Forget about this left / right bullshit i read everywhere. This is about the survival of humanity.
z3r0Projects 1 day ago
@TheDavoo If capitalism would work , the wealthiest people would be those that contribute the most to society like scientists and teachers. But the most wealthy people seem to contribute NOTHING at all... Investment bankers , hedge fund managers and so on. Just moving currency...
z3r0Projects 1 day ago

Think about it.
carterrk 2 months ago
The world is DYING and the science behind it is EXTREMELY comprehensible. And yet none of you seem to understand. Come on people, take a stand. This is urgent.
ffgamera 2 months ago
@ffgamera Let's hear some of that "science" please. Climate change is normal, our planet has been going through climate change as long as it has existed, there is nothing to suggest that man is causing climate change. I am all for less pollution and cleaner water and air, but just for the fact that I like breathing and drinking water! Carbon levels were HIGHER before man walked the earth, we have gone through TWO Ice Ages...both without man.
dturner05 2 months ago
@dturner05 I agree with you that some of all this doomsday stuff blasted at us might not be true, but consider this - when CO2 level rises, ice melts. Alot of fresh water(the Greenland ice) will flow into the Atlantic, it will mess up the Golf Stream, turning it off and within ten years Europe would be under ice. I agree that all facts aren't there, but we are messing with big ecological things here, things best to be left alone and the earth work in natural cycles without human interference.
MrCrashingcars 2 months ago
Dude... this is basic science. Don't know why NONE of you get this.
ffgamera 2 months ago
This idea that we in the west somehow owe the third world money is crazy, keep me out of this shit. The best way, IMHO, is to set carbon limits to products (so that it doesn't just outsource the co2 production to somewhere else) and let the free market design solutions. Solar electricity could cut both our coal,.and if you use solar thermal panels (that are VERY cheap) to raise the temperature of your incoming water it will allow you to maintain hot water and heat with MUCH LESS energy use.
christo930 3 months ago
How about we start with a couple facts. We will NEver stop climate change because it is a natural cycle which has been occurring since time began. HOW about you call your mission to stop pollution... NOW, what is a pollutant? NOT Carbon dioxide! Carbon dioxide is what Plants breath! Plants then "breath" out OXYGEN, which, of course, we need to breath. SO, attacking carbon emissions as the problem is a DANGEROUS DISTRACTION!
45AlanT 3 months ago
@45AlanT The problem is there is more CO2 in the atmosphere than plants need for photosynthesis. Thats why things like deforestation add to climate change. Less plants = less CO2 conversion. Also, i think i would help if we specified the definition of "climate change" as the effect humans have had on the atmosphere. Obviously the earth's climate changes naturally, but its a bit of a stretch to think the spike in greenhouse gases since the dawn of the industrial revolution is just a coincidence.
ZC727 3 months ago
@45AlanT are we not emitting too much carbon dioxide? When we build factories AND cut down forests, we are messing with the natural photosynthesis. Carbon dioxide is good and natural and all, but too much of anything thats good is never beneficial.

Do they need permission to be depressed, or failures even?

I'm afraid that the solutions proposed by this video - "Solid Caps, Strong Laws, Citizen Action, and Carbon Fees" - will also be subject to fraud and meddling by big business. If we see these problems as constants, then Cap & Trade's benefit of matching those with money with the lowest cost solutions via the marginal abatement cost curve is tremendously valuable. We need to begin with the lowest-cost opportunities in this global challenge.

Please check out a graph of temperatures from the Greenland ice cores going back to the Pleistocene (the ice age - a statistically significant period of time.) Global Cooling - it's the new Global Warming! Enjoy the warmth while it lasts!
