@allwalledup Im not an elietiest, Im just saying what any car guy would have said. Asking for thumbs up because you googled Vanishing Point because of Death Proof is just as lame as finding out theres a 60's Gone in 60 seoconds by googling the one with Nick Cage.
@Bigr0b anyone who loves old cars has to love this movie .i saw it when i was eleven years old ,never thought that someday i would have a v. point 70 challenger, and yes mine has front bumper gaurds.now its time to let it go.
I hate when people need a reference point in order to find a great movie from the past. What angers me more is how half of you morons will just stop here. Rather than wanting more and doing some research on your own to find thousands upon thousands of other gems. Because if you did that, you would start to realize how Hollywood has systematically lowered the standards of film to the most incredible degree. Take a better look. You will find that tarantino has borrowed ALOT of ideas.
Come on now. Medal of Honor, former bike and stock racer.... former police officer.. aint that some shit. Bullitt was a lot better than this hippy movie.
0:23 When the narrator said "he uses speed to get himself up" and the guy swallows something, I actually wasn't sure if they meant the pill or the sensation :)
@mrxai658 Back in those days they hired drivers to deliver cars to owners because it was cheaper than hiring truck delivery drivers who were mostly union workers.
@mrxai658 LOL No, Kowalski took a bet from his drug supplier that he could make the delivery in under 48 hours(I think). Kowlaski kept to the quiet back roads to avoid any traffic when a highway patrol officer on a motorcycle tried to pull him over for going over the speed limit. Kowlaski refused to stop and ran the officer off the road. Many people thought the police overreacted to Kowalski's driving, since he was a skilled driver and stayed off the main highways.
@mrxai658 First of all, it's not a Dodge Charger, it's a Dodge Challenger. They are two different cars. Second, his Kowlaski got hooked on speed so he could stay awake longer to make his deliveries. His speed dealer also happened to be a bookie who arranged illlegal bets on pretty much anything. Kowalski was already going to get paid for delivering the Challenger to its owner, but he would get an even bigger paycheck from his dealer if he got it there in half the time.
Top 10 list of the Greatest movies ever made. If you were a kid when this came out you know what im talking about. The Dozers at the end, man that sucked. This movie and the original gone in 60 seconds. When watched aaat a movie theater rocked. Still scarred from Jaws, bastards ruined swimming in the ocean for millions.
@beatingcane shut the fuck up you useless fucking goof! cool guy over here thinks he's hip, die in a ditch you fucking hipster shithead fucking loser faggot. lmfao sorry <3
at 0:59 the police car looks like a 4-door plymouth roadrunner of 1970?! atleast the front does look similar to one :/ correct me if im wrong ;) (were roadrunners ever built 4-doors? )
Este filme é um road-movie, bem ao estilo do Easy rider, só que no filme de Peter Fonda e Dennis Hopper os veículos eram as motos e aqui é um carro incrementado, correndo a mil por hora. O roteiro é legal e o filme interessante.
This is basically a "Product Placement" Film for Chrysler Corporation. I have a '73 Dodge Charger Hardtop, 318 V-8, Slap Stik. Chrysler Products are DA BEST.....WAIT! Maybe YOU didn't hear me...CHRYSLER PRODUCTS ARE THE BEST!!!! Dodge was founded in 1914 by John And Horace Dodge. ....."A White Dodge Challenger with a 440 Six-Pak and a 4-Speed...." I LOVE how The Stuffy Jag. gets his ass toasted. Thanks(AGAIN )RETROTUBE!!! Love The Y Bodied Imperial in the 1st Scene....
@pishposhthis Dude you gotta get into more chase movies. It doesn't matter how it's just good to watch em. Real cars real drivers non of that cgi shit
@summitdrinker Yep, that red one has a helluva pedigree but my white convertible with black vinyl bucket seats was prettier, "fancier", and sounded like a bad dog with the NON-STOCK "Thrush" glass pacs on it. Damn...wish I had that car back!
Now that is one awesom R/T Challenger...pistol grip shifter, Ralley instrumental cluster dash, Ralley wheels, and the original Kolwaski---NOT THAT WIMPY 1997 REMAKE!!! Rest in peace, Clevon!!!
I live in Denver. Where's my Challenger to drive to California?
I've easily watched this movie 50 times, along with Two Lane Blacktop, The California Kid, Crazy Mary and Dirty Larry, Hot Rod, Easy Rider, Thunder Road, The Wild Angels, Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas, The Wild One, Rousing Rebels, Wild Angels, High Noon and The Good, The Bad And The Ugly. I can watch them over and over.
@bienenpabst Not stupid , no, it's like Romeo and Juliet. He went to be with his lost lover Vera who drowned surfing in a lake. It's a movie about true love and the belief in an afterword. It's a spiritual movie, man. Can you dig it? There ain't no living end, man. Ain't that groovey? Are you cool now? Are you with It?
Top movie! Watchd it by acident when i was about 12. Love the blind dj in it! And that hot naked blonde on the bike. Kowalski and his dodge r cool as f@*k! Gr8 road movie. Chek out duel. But dont watch tarantinos deathproof coz its shite
Building a 1970 dodge Challenger R/T Clone "kowalski Special" right now....Loved this movie when I saw it for the first time around '87 or so...Something bout Pistol Grip 4-speed and just going flat out....Groovy man, I can dig it..
@6869505 Dude, when you come to Denver you gotta give me a ride in that bad dude! I've seen the movie from start to end around 50 times. I'm so glad it was a 67 Camaro they wrecked in the end. That Challenger is a wicked machine. I just hope you put some nicer seats in yours! lol No fun sliding around on those flat vinyl seats. I'm old, I remember those seats. I've driving quite a few old Dodges back in the 70's. I drove a black 68 Charger a few times from a used car lot. That car was cool too
This is currently my favorite movie. It's not just about a guy high on drugs and escaping from the cops, it's all about putting your hopes in the strangest things to get away from your everyday life...
1:20 - great montage showing what really mattered to the younger generation back in 1970 ... cocaine induced frenzy, anti-authority feelings, followed by gyration-style dancing, plus live music and funky outfits.
still bothered by the end of the "vanishing point"- did Kowalski( News' character) kill himself, was he too HIGH on Benzos to know what was happening, or was it an accident? (he was smiling before he crashed) The 1997 version (with Viggo Mortensen SUCKED ans was more "paraniod conspiracy vs the orgi. being more "plain anti establishment)
@human1089 It's a 70' plymouth belvedere it probably looks familiar because it has the same grill as a roadrunner, and is basically the four door version of the car the roadrunner is based off of

When I saw this in the seventies I was totally unprepared for it...back then you just "went to the movies" because every week there's a new one, ya know? But it had all sorts of taboo things going on in it, and was pretty amazing for the time.
sci fi just cant get enough of it on tv - even though this is a little corny as its hard to take the girl from lost going to be on two shows at the same time soon - anyway online watch V Streaming -dot - info

When I saw this in the seventies I was totally unprepared for it...back then you just "went to the movies" because every week there's a new one, ya know? But it had all sorts of taboo things going on in it, and was pretty amazing for the time.
