  • I come from a mixed department. The only reason the volunteers have a problem with the career staff that I have noticed are as followed: SOME VOLUNTEERS BELIEVE THE FIRE SERVICE IS A DEMOCRACY!!!

When you come to training and do not bring your gear, expect to get your assed chewed! If the Career guy did this what do you think would happen? Remember, the volunteer wants to be equal with the Career guy.

When you come to the house to run calls, wear the colors of your Dept. with pride. Take

  • @txfireman52 yeah and over 60% of the people in the county live in areas that are covered by paid firefighters so there goes that argument dumbass

  • Great video lol

  • Wow, looks like someone is a little bitter that he could not get on the full time force and play w/ the big boys. BTW, I make WAY more then $10 a hour too.

  • @jad3948 @btmims New York, with OT I clear close to six figures. We work 24 on 72 off monroecounty.g ov/hrapply

  • @TheWaynelds Nope spelled it right

  • i didnt know fire could tell the difference between paid and volunteer

  • oh and $10/hour is normal where I'm from. SC is pretty non/anti-union. Where's this $22-36/hour department?

  • Fighting on the internet is like running in the special Olympics...even if you win you are still retarded.

  • @eaglecard42

    heheh---aint it the truth!..

  • Being paid $10/hour or $29 K a year to go risk your life? That's ridiculous, but I guess it's better than nothing, which is what I'll be making from fire fighting. I'm a brand new volunteer, so after I get all my training and maybe get on with a paid department later, it's straight into college to get a degree in something useful, like engineering or something. 24 on 48 off? Yeah I'm doing something else AT LEAST one of those other days, 30K is NOTHING.

  • @btmims Most people who are firefighers could care less about the money.. you most def will not get rich doing it. But if you are only in it for the money find another profession

  • @Kopihucky you missed the point i was trying to make. Paid guys are always looking down on volunteers, despite the fact that the majority of firefighters are volunteers, and the payed guys mostly come from volunteer backgrounds. But they're being paid less than a somebody in a technical/semi-professional field to SERIOUSLY risk their lives. That's why, even with the paid guys, everybody has a second job. I'm working in retail, and volunteer AT LEAST 8 hours a week, far more on my duty week.

  • So yeah, if I'm willing to volunteer so much time, when I'm a little more experience, your damn straight I want to be making SOME money from my passion, so I can stop folding pants all day. Get a degree, maybe engineering (something problem-solving oriented), then maybe rotate back to volunteer when I'm a little older, a little more banged up and tired, and work a job that will more than let me and my future family scrape by, actually put MY kids through college.

  • Your a FireFighter paid or volunteer doesn't matter..we brothers and sisters in a job we love all that are bitching whining and crying should be ashamed of yourselves no title or status is better then the other shut the fuck up and get on the god damned truck!!

  • @Bable012

title or status means nothing; experience and training is everything. in the places where volunteers train and make as many quality calls as the paid crews, then they are the proud and the few. sometimes the paid people get the idea they are better than those volunteers despite the level of training and number of fires they make. those are the $10/hour douchebags

  • @Bable012 you got it! i love you firemen! youre all beautiful hearted and gorgeous!

  • @Bable012 I agree with you on everything except for you misspelling "Gosh" damn.

  • Viewsonic362 wow you really are an idiot, I live in the outskirts of Philly I've been a volunteer FF a paid deputy chief paramedic a paid FF/paramedic, a volunteer fire chief and a police officer. In my travels the volunteers did just as good a job as the paid FF, and some of them were better. You know why??? Because of assholes like you who say paid guys are better, so the volunteers bust their asses and do training, get educated and take pride in being better then the word "paid." ive been do

  • The definition of a professional firefighter: The fact that you are a PAID firefighter in no way makes you a PROFESSIONAL. The fact that you are a VOLUNTEER firefighter in no way makes you a PROFESSIONAL. You become a PROFESSIONAL only when you exhibit on the fireground those PROFESSIONAL SKILLS that you have acquired over the years from in service training, local level schools, regional schools, state firefighter's schools, and from long hours of personal study and experience. Your conduct on

  • Do volunteers take the fire fighter physical? Do volunteers go to the academy?

  • @sombersolitude

    we go to academy

  • @viewsonic362 and another thing alot of professional firefighters started out as volunteers. So way to make your self look like an ignorant person

  • I've lived in places that paid the "volunteers" a pretty good wage. The best Firefighters joined that because it meant they didn't have to pay union dues. They still got paid about the same as the unionized side, it turns out people get mad when they find out your not paying firefighters enough.

  • @txfireman52 we, also have a great amount of respect for one another and are always willing to take advantage of another persons knowledge

  • @oxlotol

you must b watching too much Rescue Me TV shows.w

    weather??? you mean whether?

  • @oxlotol Dude, your an idiot, if thats how you really feel, which i hope its not cuase that is the most retarded thing ive read in a loooonnnggg time! World without firefighters, yeah see how that works out for...

  • @oxlotol its "losers" not "loosers"

  • @oxlotol First off, learn how to spell "losers". Don't you fucking dare bring up 9/11 after a comment like that. Those 343 men that sacrificed their life for strangers are 10 times the man you will ever be. You clearly have security issues if you feel the need to down talk some one that takes a job in which they could die in, and people who do that same job and don't get a paycheck, or even a thank you most of the time. You should be ashamed of yourself.

  • Comment removed

  • @oxlotol hmmmmmmmm thats funny because we train when we are not on calls, provide fire prevention training and meetings for the communities we work in, do building inspections, cunduct public relations events, perform charity events, and I can't speak for anyone else on youtube but my engine company and myself never glote, there is no reason too and usually no one is going to care a whole lot. I dont know why you would ever say such a thing about someone who would help you no matter who you are

  • @oxlotol how about you shut your mouth i am a volunteer fire fighter and thats very offensive. those men and women who died trying to save those trapped deserve better than assholes like you remember that when your house is on fire or there is a gas leak or your in a serious car crash and need to get out! remember that asshole!

  • Here we are a volunteer and paid and we both save lives............nough said

  • yeah--yeah--paid guys wouldnt live where they would have to volunteer and not get paid? over 70% of fire protection in the country is served by volunteers...guess that's going to limit your options?

  • REMEMBER, you get what you pay for. volunteer = free Volunteers don't like this because they know it's true. I would never live in an area that is covered by volunteers. I value my life, my families life and my property too much.

  • @viewsonic362 - thank you, wouldnt want you a dickhead to live near me

  • @viewsonic362 Your an irragent mother fucker for sure. Show me any kind of study were volunteers dont do as good a job. let me tell you somthing DICKHEAD, volunteers and paid, SAME EXACT TRAINING!!A We do the same calls, same trucks, same gear...Get over yourself!!!!

  • @EMT2272 First off your is the wrong spelling. It is spelled "you're". EMT2272 seems like he tried to get on paid departments but could never make it. The training is not the exact same douchebag. Remember, ANYONE can get on a vollie department. And someone with 2 yrs volunteering can get the Chief's spot due to all the BS and popularity contests. Look at all the steps someone needs to go just to be on the list to get possibly hired for paid departments. Now go put more lights in your POV.

  • @viewsonic362 news flash assnuts, I volunteer for thelocal department where i live. Volunteer, im a paid firefighter in the city about 15 miles from here. I do both, and here another news flash for you DICKHEAD, we do the same trainig at both stations, granted ive onl been a paid firefighter for almot a year, and volly for almost 3, but again, same training, same trucks, same gear. shit same cordinators..Go play in traffic you irragant stupid basterd.

  • @viewsonic362 You are fucking wrong. I am a volunteer firefighter in oklahoma. We get paid nothing at my department, we do not have lights on our personal vehicles and we do the same training proffessional departments do. I am firefighter one structure and wildland firefighting certified along with cpr/first responder and hazmat certified. Dont bash emt2272 saying he couldnt get on a professional department it is hard to when alot of people wanna be and think they can be firefighters.

  • @viewsonic362 you're an idiot...over 70% of fire services are provided by volunteers...true, some volunteer departments are just a beer league with no training or skill - but the majority are dedicated skilled professionals who risk their lives to save yours, and ask nothing in return except a little respect.

  • @viewsonic362 You have no knowledge of what you're talking about. I'm a volunteer in a town 30 miles from Boston. Our training and expertise is so out standing in extrications (google it) that my cousins fire house in South Boston (paid) comes down to train with us. We train the same way they do and just as much when it comes to fire suppression. We haven't lost a house in over 7 years. You're just an uneducated, ignorant prick.

  • Volunteer: "You are a dick head". Paid: "Yes, but I am paid $10 an hour". LMAO!!!!!

  • lol true some career firefighters think they know every thing. but the paid and volunteer in my fd are very close so this is a disrespect to both.

  • ...at what department are the vollies getting to the scene before the career guys?? That is a response time of at least 20 minutes...God help us!

  • 10 dollars an hour!!! .....No thanks. Not sure where this is suppose to be but i'm a union FF and get 36 dollars an hr. Funny video though!!

  • ahahaaha, is paid vs vollys every where?

  • lol 10 an hour? we start at 22.50 here and max at over 35

  • @bobsirebob where do u live???!!

  • Comment removed

  • There are good volunteers out there, but they are few and far between. Most just show up on medical calls and try to see what's going on without actually helping. Maybe they are good on suppression calls, but since over 90% of calls these days are medical they serve no real purpose other than lifting patients and carrying equipment, and most aren't even good at that unless told what to do.

  • @JKBBMF True for the good volunteers being few and far between. And seems as though they just like to record their POV responses with no contribution like you said at the scene. That's sad! And for those who wish they could participate in more calls such as EMS and offensive fire suppression, we are those who are more than willing. Also to have POVs' that are outfitted with warning devices, sometimes I think some departments have too much privileges. Be safe out there during these holidays!

  • um 10 dollar an hour um ok and um i just wanna know why every one hates volenteer firefighters.?????

  • nice

  • this is hysterical!!

  • hey Im a volunteer firefighter and emt-b there are some arrogant volunteers and paid ones it dont matter if ur on a payroll if ur good ur good but there are some asshole volleys and paid guys too

  • I want to join the Volunteer Ambulance for my town, cuz I'm 16 and I can't be a real one. But I won't be an asshole like the volunteer in this vid.

  • I'll tell the chief if you don't wait! LOL

  • who the hell makes ten dollars and hour? thats horrible

  • @iloveumyra lol he's being sarcastic. obviously they make around $18-25/ hr

  • @iloveumyra EMTs and Paramedics do

  • you fucking jack ass volunteer is just as good a FULL time not pro firefighter you jack ass

  • look at metalhed66 spelling, he says they aren't or how he says arnt dumb... wonder why he couldn't pass the test to be paid haha, check out Paid VS Volunteer its funny

  • i find this funny because the paid department rolls out the door with three guys on the truck to a fire and drive big red ambulances, while the volunteers roll out the door with five on their engine, fight more structure fires each year, and quite frankly, the volunteers never use the deluge gun on a house that has already ventilated and burn it to the ground. Just an observation being on the volunteer side.

  • Yeah...well. alot of vollies arnt dumb. Yes i wont lie theres alot of retarted vollies. But i mean. Im a on call guy and really . Alot of the paid guys i see are pretty retarted and that says alot considering theyre supposed to be representing you guys on calls

  • what are you guys talking about? that was hilarious! the only thing it needed was the dance!

  • How does being paid make you any better than anyone. Volunteers work just as hard or even harder the paid guys

  • @tylermv93 Being paid doesn't make them better that the Volunteers. Professionals get a lot more training and have way more experience. I work for a professional ambulance company and I would much rather taking a call with the local paid company that the volunteers because the paid professionals are just that professionals, Skills are finer tuned, held to higher standards and more experience. Im not knocking the volunteers just giving a firest hand opinion

  • @southbillies56 I'm A Volunteer and I completly agree.

  • @southbillies56 The training point is moot where I live. Vollies and Career all attend the same academy, and attain the same certification levels.

  • dumb

  • nope

  • Okay. That's not even funny. I was expecting some sarcastic BS, that would be clearly hil-fucking-arious.. But no.. You fail.
