Sorry I didn't post the complete clip. The warlock actually tanked the whole instance up to the final boss without anyone dieing. They had an early pull on the last boss which resulted in a wipe.
When they tried to catch the final boss before the time went down they were able to get him to 30%. Hopefully that warlock will have more luck in the future.
Yeah, the point of the video was not to show some extrodinary feat, but to show that it definately can be done by almost anyone if you are smart and sometimes creative in your approach.
It can't be done. The warlock tanked a caster, which any class can do because the damage is not mitigated by armor, and he tanked a boss that doesn't do that much damage but applies an MS-type debuff that will affect drain life next patch, making this impossible.
He held aggro with drain life only because no one else was doing any serious DPS to the mobs. It went so slowly the group would surely wipe to the adds if they continued that way.
Though an exercise like this must me murder on one's durability and a real pain to that poor druid healer. Have to say... In wow Warriors get punished for being Warriors. My main is a lock, and secondary used to be a warrior, until i decided i could play how i wanted in melee if i just rolled rogue.
Basically the warlock has to balance using searing pain (which does damage threat + an increased amount of threat which can almost be like a "sunder") and drain life.
He will do more than one over the other depending on the group composition, but at the rate these mobs go down, the warlock can simply add a buffer of 1 or 2 searing pains to be begin with and be fine.
If the warlock does less DPS than the rest of his group, then he is going to use searing pain more than drain life. If there is more DPS in the group the mob should go down faster. If the mob goes down faster the healer needs to cast less healing spells.
I havent seen him immune to anything as that buff we saw was the buff proc from T4 and from the debuffs he put there he seems affliction not destruction
A lock cannot hold aggro with drain life, especially not while wearing arena gear with very little +dmg. The lock is holding aggro only because there is a minimum of DPS from other party members on the mobs. This is not a viable strategy because the adds will swamp the party while the lock very slowly kills the boss with drain life.
Also the boss applies an MS-type debuff and in patch 2.3 the healing component of drain life will be reduced by such effects, making this impossible.
Also note that for the warlock to stay alive, he's spamming drain life, which doesn't tick for much if the lock is wearing PvP gear. So his threat generation is very low, and consequently the rest of the party must hold DPS. They will not be able to keep up with the adds and probably wiped soon after this clip was filmed.
The warlock is wearing at least two pieces of Season 2 gladiator gear that have nearly as much armor as mail.
He tanks two mobs: a caster, which isn't armor-dependent and thus can be tanked by any class, and a boss that doesn't hit hard but applies an MS-type debuff that will affect drain/siphon life when patch 2.3 comes out, which will make this impossible.
The warlock is also a scrub with a crappy UI and stupid keybinds.

More gristle for the obvious grinder that locks are out of control.

Normal bm, with any half competent group any member can tank it. Really nothing special

Try that in Heroic dungeons. GFG. LOL.
This is like doing Deadmines with a level 30 caster tank.

This warlock's group is composed of two warlocks, two hunters, and a druid.
I think one of the hunters was helping out with the adds while the other DPS was helping with the mini boss add.

tanks dont tank the adds in bm....so you need only one tank to hold aggro on lvl 70 elite dragons and that warlock just did that.
