@snowymech T.T. is the best one, I think. He has the highest max speed. I don't usually pick him because I don't like the way he turns.

I used to have the DS version of this... the music is awesome. I still have some of it stuck in my head despite not playing it in over 2 years (I think it's ancient lake and hot top volcano that I remember)

@Breludicolo Yeah, Wizpig is only playable in the DS version. In the original N64 version, he's a boss character that you have to race against and is unplayable.

When this game was first released, I was enticed in buying it, because it reminded me alot of Mario Kart 64. Looking back at it now, many people probably wonder "besides Diddy Kong, who the heck were the rest of them". I guess to Rare, Banjo and Conker were appealing enough to have their own games. Too bad we rarely see them, now.

@mooman55311 its a fail for u, virtual console is where u download past video games on your wii. Diddy Kong racing should be on the wii virtual console. XD

@TrevRman That's not going to happen, mainly because the N64 version includes Banjo and Conker, who are owned by Rare, who is in turn owned by Microsoft.

There is a port on the DS called Diddy Kong Racing DS, though. Banjo and Conker were replaced by Dixie Kong and Tiny Kong in that version.

@PinkAmpharos IIRC, Rare was hoping to make games for the unrecognizable characters, and this was a way to introduce the characters to the masses while still having a recognizable cover boy. Banjo of Banjo-Kazooie fame was also put in this game, but apparently not in this race. The best-laid plans of mice and men, eh?
