But the child was holding the weapon the wrong way from what I can tell from some other videos. The weapon didn't look like it was pulled high enough or tight enough into his shoulder.
Sub-machine gun. Its a 9mm Luger and no a 9mm won't rip you to pieces. Maybe if you have HP bullets and shoot a lot of em. I've shot .45 auto pistols and guns like that and they kicked a lot more than that gun did.
A powerful gun is a 50 cal rifle, 308, 7mag rifle....357Snub nose, and on. AN ooze, powerful? Hello its close combat and shoots rapidly so you have a damn chance of shooting someone. Why can't they ever get people that no what the hell they are talking about. There were safety precautions that were not taken in the event and that is where someone should be held at fault.
first of all, the father is a DOCTOR i think he should be fired for being stupid. second how in the hell is it the police chiefs fault he was no where near the accident how can he be held accountable? that would be like me being accountable for the guy next door shooting himself. thirdly the father signed the weaver how is any of this happening? this is why the united states is going down the toilet we make big deals out of crap like this and the rest of the world laughs and points at us.
You people blaming the dad are fucking idiots. You do know other countries train their kids to fight, and not with some pussy ass uzi firing a 9mm round. They use AK-47's, 7.62mm round. You bitches are pussifying the youth of our nation. FUCK THE FUCK OFF
Yes, absolutely people must be held to account. I'm 50 years old & we raised 4 girls each one now nurses today, knock on wood. When I was a child in 1960's something like this could NEVER have occurred simply because there was a different more well defined ethos in play. Children DREAMED about firing a fully auto weapon because we KNEW we would NEVER be allowed to fire one, just like we knew THEY were adults and WE were children it was a simple fact of life and so we only dreamed of the chance.
@geepgeep567 Well, that is not entirely true because Dad did not have to take the boys to the Ranch to shoot the weapon, that said, the Sheriff is out of his Walrus shaped head to think there is one bit of logic to posting an AD for ALL ages to join the fun and fire the most jicky weapons on Earth. There I agree with you 100%, And I think by the time the case came to trial the little community just wanted this to ALL go away & it looked to me like the Prosecutor knew that, and just mailed it in.
mayb,MAYB,MAYB, the instructor. for not tellin the child to hold the weapon correctly.this has absolutely nothing to do with his father.everyone is just looking for someone to blame and if the court doesnt do their job right and get their feelings out of the way someone innocent will go to jail. And look at everyone acting like they r the role models for parents these days.everyone should just worry about their own children and make sure this doesnt happen to them.GROW UP
there's a reason my father only let me learn to shoot with a single-shot, low-caliber gun. and he was right there next to me..one hand on me and one hand on the gun. it took years for me to go from that low power single-shot to larger guns. safety was always stress. and if i did something even close to unsafe you can bet he always corrected it right away
I think the father should be criminally responsible.....there is no way in hell u take your 8 year old to a freakn gun show an allow him to handle an uzi.....a jammed one at that.....if they were black.....everyone would be locked up......
YES! The poor excuse for a father can and should be held responsible for his son's death! He let's his eight year old son fir an UZI? And this guy is a doctor? Someone please identify the hospital this fool practices at so we can avoid this guy! Manslaughter for the dad! What a moron!
Kids should NOT play with guns of any kind! We keep criticizing other countries for enabling children to use guns and shoot them but we are no different.
@dancfmv They're not "playing." And I certainly don't "criticize other countries for enabling children to use guns and shoot them." What the hell are you taling about?
I love that my Dad took me shooting when I was 4 1/2 years old. Great memories, even 45 years later.
I did the same for my son and daughters when they were old enough.
Uzi's are not known as "powerful weapons." They fire a wimpy 9mm round, the same as a 2 pound handgun.
looking at this video, I think the adults who allowed the child to handle a firearm should be held responsible. They should have taught him how to properly hold and use a firearm, if they had, this wouldnt have happened. I can say from experience that the age of the boy is not a factor, I learned how to shoot long before i was eight years old. Age does not matter, some adults have had worse accidents.
There are over 3000 federal laws controlling all aspects of gun ownership, manufacture, and transfer. Sometimes people have to be held accountable for personal responsibility. I think responsibility lies with the father and whomever setup the rules for the Uzi shooting.
@cenochs I'm a progressive but I'm for gun rights and own many. If you had ever shot an Uzi 9mm on full auto you'd know it's very powerful and kicks unlike a pistol, along with the high-grain ammo used in this case it was definitely a gun this child should not have able to shoot. Any sub-machine gun not held strongly and properly is dangerous to the shooter.
Maybe not as powerful as the .45, but still not a smart idea for an 8 year old to be shooting - easily evidenced by this tragedy. Power is all relative - I am an avid gun owner, but sometimes you have to use a little common sense and take some responsibility. I don't let my 8 year old blast away with my 9mm pistol, so I sure as hell would not just let him fire away with a damn Uzi...
@cenochs even a .22 in full auto has some kick to it. 9mm would have even more kick. anythings possible and im sure that kid didnt have a tight enough grip because hes only a kid Bad gun choice for him. Even a shotgun would be safer being it only shoots once.
holy shit!!!! that was a .45!!!? i have a mac 11 cobray that shots only 9mm... i didnt even know there was a 45 uzi

So fully automatic weapons (its not a machine gun)) are legal in Massachusettes? First I've heard.

an 8 year old by no means can be strong enough or heavy enough to handle an uzi.. are you kidding me..

These "experts" are fucking morons. It is perfectly safe IN THE HANDS OF A EXPERIENCED QUALIFIED SHOOTER.
The fact is this poor child had numerous adults who failed to protect him with common sense decisions. RIP dear child.
