@gangstersteve1993 Hydrogen? you sure you don't mean Nitrogen? most dealerships offer Nitrogen fill as an option. i love American Muscle cars. i own a Camaro as a matter of fact. :-) two of them. a 98 F-body and a 74' z28 circle track car. but the 74' needs an engine rebuilt. the Rings are shot and all the oil seals are blown out. but if i had he money to get any car i wanted. i would get a late AstonMarton one77. that car is a marvel of perfection.

@lechetoni It may be a ford, but its far from a muscle car. Its a mid-engine sports car. It might have the engine of a muscle car, but it doesn't have the shitty chassis of a crappy american car.
@mat355 That's not what he's talking about? Secondly, what great american F1-companies are there really? I'm not saying I have anything against american cars, I'm just saying your argument isn't valid.
Why when people compare American cars to European they allways compare muscle cars to ferraris and other super cars? Im pretty sure maybe 2% of Europe can afford that shit anyways so take your shitty attitude and shove it
Muscle are crap because normal people build them. Take foose building a muscle car. It will go and stop and handle properly. Its taking a older car and re engineering it to newer spec's. Its expensive but if done right you'll have a nice car. I have seen many times is that more time is spent on the motor to make more hp and that chassis . Making a extremely unbalanced car.As far as the show host being a hypocrite, He knows better. You don't know what he has driven through the years .
You people are fucking Ignorant even arguing this point. Its not like ANY of you could even afford a (What they consider) EXTREMELY Cheap European sports car. None of you have ever driven a "Ferrari" or "Lamborghini" or even Porsche, or Aston. OF COURSE THEY'RE GOING TO BE FUCKING BETTER IF YOU INVEST 250,000 - 1,000,000 INTO A FUCKING CAR COMPARED TO A CAR THAT COSTS 40,000! Thats like comparing The Wright flyer to a F18 Hornet. Completely ridiculous
@reefblue331 lol yeah he wasn't expecting it to handle so badly, and most Europeans drive bmw, Audi, Mercedes, etc. Most have v8s. But they also use indepentend suspension, not shitty leaf springs.
@ttsfa1 Muscle cars don't use leaf springs you fucking Moron, I don't know of any car now days that use Leaf springs besides trucks, and Leaf springs are undoubtily the best rear suspension for a Truck.
Muscle cars are way better then european cars because it takes a real man to control 400+ horsepower instead of letting all these advansed computers control the car
@Lillie1986 First off stop going back 3 pages to pick a fucking fight you pathetic excuse of a troll. Second off I know the old Muscle cars had leaf springs never said they didn't you moron. Third why are we comparing a 340,000 dollar cars to 20,000 - 70,000 dollar cars? Makes absolutely zero fucking sense. Its not like you will ever have a penny in the direction of ever being able to own what is considered a Cheap Euro. Sports cars. Muscle cars are for build and accomplishment.
@14omega28ok Im not comparing it to a 340.000 dollar car. You can compare it to european cars that cost exactly as much and theyre still lightyears ahead of american cars. Or perhaps you think a car with individual rearsuspension has to cost over 300.000 dollars?
@Lillie1986 American Luxury car - 64,000 Dollars European Luxury - 71,000 to 240,000 dollars. Big fucking difference there. Your knowledge on cars lack if you think any modern day cars are running with leaf springs.
@Lillie1986 Lets look here, A old Muscle car (The real ones) Are built for enjoyment. They are built for something you can stand back and be proud of, Something with personality, Power, and Sound, and looks that is unmatched. Not something to be raced around a track at 250 mph with a computer guiding you around every bend. You obviously fucking don't understand that. A European car, Lacks everything a Muscle car has. After reading about the setup on a Corvette, That design isn't all that bad
@14omega28ok A Lotus Elan doesnt have computers either, they were built in the same period and are both built to have fun with. Still it would eat any muscle car alive.
Also I havent said that musclecars are useless, I said theyre crap. Yes they have personality but noone can deny that they are shitty cars as cars.
@Lillie1986 Eat any muscle car alive? Not necessarily. They would come about neck and neck. Muscle cars are crap? I doubt you've ever driven a nicely restored muscle car. I doubt you've even seen a muscle car in your life. So how would you know? What by what Jeremy tells you? Muscle cars are not shit, Matter of fact, I've seen 40 year old Muscle cars keep up with Porche 911's on the track (Yes with curbs and bends)So Stop trolling you ignorant bitch.
@14omega28ok I own a 1971 Camaro (SS clone with a crate engine) that Ive restored down to bare metal myself thank you very much. I also have a 1986 Porsche 944 Turbo that cost half what the camaro costed. Ive driven both a Lotus Elan, ford mustangs, challengers and chevelles from the same era and there is NO muscle car from the same era that stand a chance against any lotus or porsche from that era. To say otherwise would be lying.
@Lillie1986 *Sniff sniff* Is that bullshit I smell? I think it is. If you're going to start making shit up to justify your argument, Just quit replying to me. Please you pathetic little bitch.
@robbie1490 What truth? Over my time, I've owned more European and American car then you can imagine, and I know European cars are superior in terms of luxury and handling. But I also know that American Muscle cars aren't "Shit" and Aren't "Worthless" as with a good builder they can be great, Fast, good handling cars.
@Lillie1986 I don't race them, I build them. Custom jobs, Converting, Modernizing. The Only American Muscle car I own is a 1992 RS Camaro, I own 3 European cars 1 Being a MG, A 72' VW beetle and a Austin Healey. and 13 Trucks. If you go back and look I never said a European car wasn't superior in terms of that. and I would much rather own a European sports car for speed. You ignorant bitch. I was saying though that American Muscle cars can be just as capable. Why? Because I've seen it
@14omega28ok It sort of depends what youre comparing it to doesnt it. If you compare a camaro to an austin allegro then yea the camaro would be better in every single way.
Will still say that a sportscar from europe from the same era compared to a musclecar or even a sportscar from america from that era will be much slower.
The only I give American cars credit is looking intimidating. Seeing as their style is considered to be the "brawn" of the car world in being incredibly powerful and scary, and nothing else.
Take Clarkson's statement with a grain of salt; yes, there is a great deal of hypocrisy in it. One only need view the ep of Top Gear in which Clarkson drives the Merc AMG CLK "Black Series," positively GUSHING over it--and the AMG CLK is the EPITOME of a muscle car, i.e. "Usually, a 2-door, rear wheel drive, mid-size or full-size car designed for four or more passengers, with a high performance engine fitted."
Not all muscle cars are meant for those sharp turns. They are made to have absolutly raw power. All he wants is the newest, shinyest, thing on the market.
The photo is a classic example of what happens when you put a non-American behind the wheel of an American Muscle car. The power and torque is something they are not used to. Blame it on the car, it can't be that you don't know how to drive is it? Get a Mini Cooper and leave the Muscle Cars for the men.
@reefblue331 they forget that Americans build there shit for strait line drags and left turn, and if they want something built with decent handling buy a real performance car haha not a muscle car
@akinadownhillace Yeah I suppose so considering I assume your European Suspension can carry 9,000 pounds right on top of it or 32,000 pounds behind it on a daily basis without taking damage. I'm sureeee your European suspension would work fine on my truck. that I use everyday to make my money
Noone seems to understand anything about American Muscle....It's just pure paw power. No expensive computer, no time wasted on suspension and steering, no super lightweight bodies. just raw power for little cost (back in the day). American sports cars pale in comparison to european cars PERIOD. but our style of race is not theirs. Love em both but don't say either is complete crap.
Apples to oranges, my friends. People are too busy comparing things that are not remotely comparable...muscle cars are muscle cars and exotics are that, exotics...what I hate the most, is when people think they know FWDs when viewing them from an RWD perspective. How silly...
He isn't a hypocrite. The reason he has mood swings is because the cars aren't good in every department. For example, he hated the looks and layout of the m5, but loved the performance.
American cars are crap for Europe,they are way too brutal for Europe,but in US are great,the roads are bigger and better so you can drive them and like them,but in Europe it's a nightmare to drive them on the little roads in traffic...
so in europe the roads are big for Ferraris and Lamborghinis and big german luxury sedans (ie merc s class, bmw 7 series) but not big enough for muscle cars? no offence but thats BS. Europeans are just cocky about how their cars have "better interiors" and "better quality". They think that if a car from europe has a better dashboard, then its superior in everything. They don't admit that when their engines hit 130k miles or so they crap out and cost a shit load to repair
You forgot to mention that the suspensions the gearboxes and the engines are 50 years ahead of US. car technology, US. made cars are only switched to fuel injection a few years ago, what about tiptronic or dsg gearshift tech? or the others, I lost count on them, the ctv or the zr1 still use pushrod engines, high fuel consumption and shitty engine cooling, oh yeah and most US. cars cant corner, except the Corvette.
whatever you say. what i meant to say is the repair of a european car costs 5x what it costs to repair an american car. and btw, that pushrod engine in the cts-v make 556 HP, while in, for example, a Jaguar xfr, its only 500 HP. and there is a huge price difference. so whether you like it or not, american cars are cheaper to buy and maintain. END OF ARGUMENT.
Jaguars are not the mainstream supercars in Europe they are more of a rarity mostly buyed by the British, most high end cars are from Germany and Italy, and they make easily 5-6 even 700Hp or more, but horsepower is not everything there are many "weaker " cars around with "only" 3-400Hp wich will drive circles around bigger cars, Porsche would be one, You have right with the cheaper repair costs, I only stated the 130K is not valid .....
the higher cost are because the parts are usually higher quality manufactured with newer technology wich cost a lot, for example the gearboxes, or the fuel injection systems, many European cars are not only using fuel injection for example but direct injection into the cilynder FSI tech, these system are really high tech and cost a lot, the only US. made car I have heard of that tried this type of system was the CTS , but I dont know if they utilised the tech or not.
but Im not bashing, I only love to stay with the facts, there is nothing wrong with EU roads in fact they are a bit higher quality than in the US. for example the highways, muscle cars are not too big to drive around, if a muscle car is in trouble because of not enough space a BMW 7 is in trouble too, the cause why nobody buys US cars is the high fuel consumption on avarage, a liter gas is 2$ here, yeah not a gallon but a liter.
i guess you're right about fuel consumption, but the dodge challenger has MDS technology, which switches 4 cylinders off while cruising at a constant speed, therefore achieves about 26 mpg. I know for a fact a chrysler hemi can achieve 26 mpg on the highway because I used to own a 300c
@extremepsychogamer The ass end of my truck would cut the edges European Road ways by a half a Foot. So yes, Our roads are definitely bigger. Whether you like it or not.
LOL "all muscle cars are crap" I'd love to give Jeremy a ride in my old 92 Formula Firebird which came standard with WS6 suspension, and with it's Firestone firehawk sz50's I'd make him kiss the passenger side window going around a corner. Don't believe everything you hear about American muscle when it comes from jeremy clarksons mouth.
Muscle cars are crap? Yeah. But I love them anyway. I'm American and I know they're crap, but I still love them to death. Nothing beats the smile that accelerates on your face when you put your foot down in one of those behemoths; it is just a completely different car culture than in Europe.
@nameUnavailab1e eh, im a japanese tuner car guy but i like some muscle cars, it's just clarkson is one of the world's largest car critics, plus in a news interview he said himself that barley anyone listens to him because what 17 year old or 21 year old would want to listen to a man with thinning hair and yellow teeth, im not joking he actually said that entire sentence.
never take this guy's word seriously, he's a hypocrite. First he says he loves the corvette zr1 in their roadtrip special, but then he says its shit in a later review. He says the mustang is a nice car, but then he says its shit. he says the 300c is a nice car, but then says its shit in one of his DVD's. and finally, when he first reviewed the M5, he said its a terrible car, then he kept glorifying it in later episodes. I dont hate the guy, in fact im a huge fan, but he's a huge hypocrite.
@extremepsychogamer Are you joking? The guy is an entertainer, the point of his shows is not to give you cold hard facts, its to entertain you. I don't think anyone in the world ever took his word seriously, apart from you i guess hahaha :P
@extremepsychogamer He said, that the R8 is better than the TR1, not that it´s shit. Than he says, that the Mustang is a good car, but there are so many european sportscars, which are better. He didn´t liked the 300c for a second so cut that. And, finally, he said, that the old M5 looks stupid and feels slow. But IF you press the M-Button, it turns to a sportscarlike, classic, fast M5 with a massive performance.
@extremepsychogamer He's talking about old muscle cars. In this clip you don't get the context of the conversation. Eric stated that he still had to run leaf springs to keep in his class. Jeremy then stated a couple of older muscle cars he'd driven and they were all crap (handling wise) and he's right.
@RetroGamerr1991 Old Muscles cars are the only Real Muscle cars. Besides do you fucking morons not even get the point in an American Muscle car? They have personality, Power, The sounds, the look, the little perks that each individual car has it what makes a Old American muscle car so great. They have soul, Everything about them is exciting. European Cars are great and all but they lack everything that an American Muscle car has. No True Muscle car fan argues that they're the fastest.
@14omega28ok thats why the muscle cars have such a huge fan base! i LOVE the personality they have. its nice to see that not everybody is a narrow minded know-it-all on here.
@extremepsychogamer what he's talking about is the initial reaction compared with the long term reaction, that is intact a huge factor to people when buying a car. 1) the ZR1 is fun on open straight roads in a controlled environment or a flat-out drag race, but it is very difficult to drive, thats not a bad thing but its like giving a macbook to an 80 year old, even if they learn the basics, something advanced would end in a disaster.
@extremepsychogamer 2) the mustang and 300c are very attractive at first, cheap, well equipped, good looking and powerful. However in the long term you realize that the build quality is poor, the engines drink fuel by the gallon, there is more plastic than a lego factory, etc. these factors make these cars terrible for a long term purchase.. In the end, no matter how expensive, American cars are disposable, society forces americans to get a new car every 3 years. Why buy a bmw for 2x the price
@extremepsychogamer It's a fun car to drive, he says he enjoys it. However its' a shitty car, poor quality of the body, poor quality of the interior. These are truths. Get your shit straight.
@extremepsychogamer At the end of the M5 review he said it was one of the best cars in the world. Also, he never took the Zr1 around a track when he had it in America, its a much different experience. :/
@telephone1237 first of all the corvette is a battering ram second its actually FASTER THAN THE FERRARI!!!! and third ferrari's are made of liquid llama turds! fourth your also jeleuos that we make THE BEST CARS ON EARTH!!!!!!! in the U.S.A!!!!
As an American, I understand the fascination of muscle cars. However, most people have never driven one. The lack of an adequate suspension and horrible drum brakes at the time (60s'ish) make most muscle cars a screaming metal death trap. I really love the aura and ruggedness of most muscle cars, but, holy shit, I would never buy one.
@bloatedcarl no....Corvettes are fiberglass, Ferrari and carbon fiber and aluminium. and solid steel muscle cars are death traps, cuz 2 tons of metal going in a straight line fast = death if crashed, in the Ferrari you can at least steer.
@pdavid24 aluminum and carbon fiber, my bad. But any car is hard to turn if your going at extreme speeds, Ferrari's included. When your approaching a turn going about 130 mph any car would struggle to slow down. It all depends on the driver. Muscle cars were made so anyone could afford one, and Ferrari's were made for the "high class" of the world. Big difference. By the way, some muscle cars when they are rebuilt are made with extreme performance suspensions, aka no leaf springs.
but then again dumbshit u crash a ferrari its gone total lost and if ur going really fast its gone and your gone where ass metal car u crash sure its expensive to fix but u wont die in a metal box XD and a cheap plastic box u will
First...Mustang and Camero are Pony cars and not muscle cars. Second and most important is that Jeremy Clarkson is a just another example of a pompus,self centered Brit who rags on America until it is time to save their ass in another war...
Well Jeremy, for starters, you are full of shit! If it wasnt for American Muscle! You wouldnt have Lambos and Paganis. Detroit and Maryland, and I say Maryland because that is where the first big block came from in the Z-16 Chevelle, and it was the 396. So yeah, you Limeys keep your fucking mouths shut, cause our cars can whip your cars asses!
Well Jeremy, for starters, you are full of shit! If it wasnt for American Muscle! You wouldnt have Lambos and Paganis. What a unfair comment considering you are comparing cars from 40-50 years newer than they are. Ignorant statement about classic muscle. That is why "classic" is used to describe it. For fuck sake Jeremy.
@Basse92 The weather is almost the same in sweden and in middle US. American cars an extremely long time, especially the engine and especially the pickups and old muscle cars, they usually last for about 700 000 - 800 000 and thats in miles. Youll never ever see a BMW that made it above 300 000 miles without a serious repair. Of course a Mercedes will last just as long cuz of the V8 engine, but the others...
@Basse92 And how is it 'cheap plastic' interior, its the same in all cars in the world except Cadillac Lincoln Mercedes and the top brands. So if American cars are 'shit' then so are Volvos and Saabs, and Citroen, and Peugeot, and Renault, and Alfa Romeo, and Dacia, and Seat, Opel, Skoda, etc. You see what you said had no point cuz you just simply try to make all American things look bad cuz you base your opinion on your America hatred. Aka anything you say is invalid. And Im European
@DesertStateNevada i dont hate america...In fact i like many things about it. just there attitude. "evrything that is American made is the best"... yeah right.. i can see why some people like Muscle cars... BUT, when they claim that those are the best cars built they are just ignorent. And sure, Citroen, Peageot Dacia etc are not better. i have to say german cars (Audi , BMW , Mercedes) are the best, the quality, handling, performence u name it... if you take care it will last!
@DesertStateNevada glad we could agrre of something then ;) one thing i have to admit, ameican cars have the best comfort... (btw, i know my english sucks)

Making a extremely unbalanced car.As far as the show host being a hypocrite, He knows better. You don't know what he has driven through the years .

Completely ridiculous

Its not like you will ever have a penny in the direction of ever being able to own what is considered a Cheap Euro. Sports cars. Muscle cars are for build and accomplishment.
14omega28ok 2 weeks ago
@14omega28ok Im not comparing it to a 340.000 dollar car. You can compare it to european cars that cost exactly as much and theyre still lightyears ahead of american cars. Or perhaps you think a car with individual rearsuspension has to cost over 300.000 dollars?
Lillie1986 2 weeks ago
@Lillie1986 American Luxury car - 64,000 Dollars European Luxury - 71,000 to 240,000 dollars. Big fucking difference there. Your knowledge on cars lack if you think any modern day cars are running with leaf springs.
14omega28ok 2 weeks ago
@14omega28ok Im not talking about luxury cars Im talking about performance cars.
A Porsche Cayman SS isnt more expensive than a brand new Challenger or Camaro SS. But in terms of quality and performance they are wildly apart.
There are modern cars being produced with leafsprings in different setups, the corvette being one of them.
Lillie1986 2 weeks ago
@Lillie1986 Lets look here, A old Muscle car (The real ones) Are built for enjoyment. They are built for something you can stand back and be proud of, Something with personality, Power, and Sound, and looks that is unmatched. Not something to be raced around a track at 250 mph with a computer guiding you around every bend. You obviously fucking don't understand that. A European car, Lacks everything a Muscle car has. After reading about the setup on a Corvette, That design isn't all that bad
14omega28ok 2 weeks ago
@14omega28ok A Lotus Elan doesnt have computers either, they were built in the same period and are both built to have fun with. Still it would eat any muscle car alive.

Lillie1986 2 weeks ago
@Lillie1986 Eat any muscle car alive? Not necessarily. They would come about neck and neck. Muscle cars are crap? I doubt you've ever driven a nicely restored muscle car. I doubt you've even seen a muscle car in your life. So how would you know? What by what Jeremy tells you? Muscle cars are not shit, Matter of fact, I've seen 40 year old Muscle cars keep up with Porche 911's on the track (Yes with curbs and bends)So Stop trolling you ignorant bitch.

If you go back and look I never said a European car wasn't superior in terms of that. and I would much rather own a European sports car for speed. You ignorant bitch. I was saying though that American Muscle cars can be just as capable. Why? Because I've seen it
14omega28ok 2 weeks ago
@14omega28ok It sort of depends what youre comparing it to doesnt it. If you compare a camaro to an austin allegro then yea the camaro would be better in every single way.

American cars are crap for Europe,they are way too brutal for Europe,but in US are great,the roads are bigger and better so you can drive them and like them,but in Europe it's a nightmare to drive them on the little roads in traffic...
maximatonik 1 month ago
@maximatonik
so in europe the roads are big for Ferraris and Lamborghinis and big german luxury sedans (ie merc s class, bmw 7 series) but not big enough for muscle cars? no offence but thats BS. Europeans are just cocky about how their cars have "better interiors" and "better quality". They think that if a car from europe has a better dashboard, then its superior in everything. They don't admit that when their engines hit 130k miles or so they crap out and cost a shit load to repair
extremepsychogamer 1 month ago
@extremepsychogamer
130K miles really, good joke.
Pocok4 1 month ago
@Pocok4
whatever you say. what i meant to say is the repair of a european car costs 5x what it costs to repair an american car. and btw, that pushrod engine in the cts-v make 556 HP, while in, for example, a Jaguar xfr, its only 500 HP. and there is a huge price difference. so whether you like it or not, american cars are cheaper to buy and maintain. END OF ARGUMENT.
extremepsychogamer 1 month ago
@extremepsychogamer
Pocok4 1 month ago
@Pocok4
partII
the higher cost are because the parts are usually higher quality manufactured with newer technology wich cost a lot, for example the gearboxes, or the fuel injection systems, many European cars are not only using fuel injection for example but direct injection into the cilynder FSI tech, these system are really high tech and cost a lot, the only US. made car I have heard of that tried this type of system was the CTS , but I dont know if they utilised the tech or not.
Pocok4 1 month ago
@Pocok4
part III
26miles\gallon is not bad that would be around 13 liter\100km we count here differently:),
tha avarage car here will make 7-8 liter\100 with ease, diesel ones even 3!! liter\100
thats why You cant sell here cars.
Pocok4 1 month ago
@extremepsychogamer
but Im not bashing, I only love to stay with the facts, there is nothing wrong with EU roads in fact they are a bit higher quality than in the US. for example the highways, muscle cars are not too big to drive around, if a muscle car is in trouble because of not enough space a BMW 7 is in trouble too, the cause why nobody buys US cars is the high fuel consumption on avarage, a liter gas is 2$ here, yeah not a gallon but a liter.
Pocok4 1 month ago
@Pocok4
i guess you're right about fuel consumption, but the dodge challenger has MDS technology, which switches 4 cylinders off while cruising at a constant speed, therefore achieves about 26 mpg. I know for a fact a chrysler hemi can achieve 26 mpg on the highway because I used to own a 300c

But IF you press the M-Button, it turns to a sportscarlike, classic, fast M5 with a massive performance.
NoVideoxD 1 month ago

@14omega28ok @14omega28ok Oh absolutely but his point is not moot. They were terribly designed but I still love them.
RetroGamerr1991 2 weeks ago
@extremepsychogamer what he's talking about is the initial reaction compared with the long term reaction, that is intact a huge factor to people when buying a car. 1) the ZR1 is fun on open straight roads in a controlled environment or a flat-out drag race, but it is very difficult to drive, thats not a bad thing but its like giving a macbook to an 80 year old, even if they learn the basics, something advanced would end in a disaster.
FerrarisRock 4 weeks ago
@extremepsychogamer 2) the mustang and 300c are very attractive at first, cheap, well equipped, good looking and powerful. However in the long term you realize that the build quality is poor, the engines drink fuel by the gallon, there is more plastic than a lego factory, etc. these factors make these cars terrible for a long term purchase.. In the end, no matter how expensive, American cars are disposable, society forces americans to get a new car every 3 years. Why buy a bmw for 2x the price

As an American, I understand the fascination of muscle cars. However, most people have never driven one. pdavid24 1 month ago 9
