  • hey great start, very very clean

  • good job mofo

  • Sexy start :)

  • Great technique. As a track coach, strength coach, and speed expert I really can't find any fault with it...

  • This is one of the best starting techniques i've ever seen by a sub-elite athlete

  • this is not slow-mo

  • @varexnet32 He's just that fast.

  • Good form, but your stride length isnt too impressive gotta work on those plyometrics

  • I don't think this is a good start. You should do a first short step, then directly a long one.and work ur way up

  • Hey mate, may have fixed this by now, but if you look at the likes of powell and bolt you'll notice their back foot is almost dragging along the ground out of the blocks. If you could get rid of the cycling around and up near your bum with your back legs and keep them low while driving forward you'll save a lot of time. Otherwise, great start!

  • second stride is very short

  • Taking sprinting advice from a white guy hah....thats like your mum teaching you how to shave.

  • @mcneumz apparently you've never heard of Tom Tellez, Dan Pfaff, Vince Anderson, Pat Henry.....list goes on. Also the fact that one of the best sprinters in the world is a 21 year old white guy right now. And your point is again?

  • @Trabuco34 Someone can't take a joke...

  • @Trabuco34 usain bolt, tyson gay, asafa powell... all better than those guys ;)

  • @mcneumz

Nor have you heard of hairy mums, clearly. Hopefully you are now well-schooled.

  • @mcneumz speed has nothing to do with techniqe, neither does color there is only 1 race in this world its called HUMAN RACE u handicap the best sprinters in the world such as tyson gay etc they all have white trainers man dont be racist!!!! wheter u get faster or not depends on your bodies capability of development not white ppl training u!!!!! lighten up for gods sake

  • @mcneumz do you even have hair to shave ?

  • Looks good based on ur first step you should

have been the first white guy under 10.00 lol

  • QWOP

  • I know the video is old now, but it seems like your first step is somewhat to the side, your first step should be going straight forward.

  • I can run the 100m in 9.83 i'm 7 is that okay?

  • @esquimalt1 shut the fuck up

  • @iansmu16 huh? i just want to no if thats good

  • Duh boy lying. How you run a "10.2" at 14....Jeff demps ran 10.1 his senior year in high school. . . I know u ain't run no damn 10.2. Lol

  • im 13 and i run 10.2. is that good? lmao

  • @mojomatt176 Same Here 13 and 10.2 :D

  • I noticed that your first push (from the blocks) was good and propelled you forward nicely however when your left leg landed and pushed for the first time it didn't seem to do much.

  • I noticed that your initial push out of the blocks was very strong, but there was something wrong with your next few steps and this threw off your drive phase. You looked bent over at the waist in order to stay low and that is killing your start. I'm not a coach, but I believe this can be fixed by having a training partner hold a resistance band around your waist and have you practice exploding out of the blocks. The resistance band slows the motion down and forces correct technique.

  • very good start but your right leg pushes harder than left leg. Complete the pushing with left leg ;)

  • i am 14 and i can run 100 metees in 10.5 but i wanna run it in 10.1 how can i get better

  • @kadeemb3 doubt it....

  • @LBmeek35 you don't have to believe it jsu t know it happened

    d

  • @LBmeek35 oh sorry jutst ralize the huge ass typo

bra i meant to put 11.5

    sorry

  • @kadeemb3 hahahahahaha

  • @kadeemb3 That's the biggest BS I've ever heard in my life. Top D1 college athletes can barely run that. Stop lying

  • Dats Real Good...Nice Leg Extention and power with arms

  • great start! my coach makes a point of slowly raising your head out of the blocks instead of coming straight up, that way, you keep a lot of power, and if i'm correct, i saw you do that

  • what´s your 100m pb and 200m or 60m :) pls it looks very quick and strong start

  • ta deux fouler est tro courte !

  • looked good to me, definitely better than many many high school runners i've seen

  • what's up with all the 13-year-old kids talking here :D

i like your start. i'm at the moment looking to improve my start, i'm always one of the last to get off the blocks :( My PB is 11.23. There's a video of 4x100m relay in my favorites, where i run the last leg (red shirt and shit). Still at recovery phase from thigh injuries.

  • @klap00 cool, good luck. Improving a lackluster start could be the difference up upwards to 3 tenths of a second in a 100m race....

  • @Trabuco34 and how much improvement is that in a 60m sprint (a very fast start outta the blocks)

  • @klap00 weak 100 time bro you should start doing the 400 and 800 instead

  • @ZOso319 stfu i'm white and i don't train much. :D actually i can run under 11 secs too, but my leg is fucked. starting my trainings next week again (haven't done so for half a year...)

  • @klap00 im white too and as a junior will be going to state for the second time white people are supposed to be distance runners

  • @telkwa oo ok thanks!

  • @telkwa i thought for your first step, your supposed to push as far as you can?

  • @iMalakai to an extent, yes. BUt you don't want to interpret that as a reach and create an ineffective shin angle for driving...

  • Amazing start!!!

  • every step that you take with you're right leg is short. you should fix this

  • How fast do you run the 100 and 200?

  • Great initial start with the right leg out of the blocks, but continuing to drive with you left leg will keep you lower throughout your "drive-phase" until you are fully upright. A bit of lifting (squats/lounges) will take care of that imbalance. Good luck!

  • wats your fastest on hundred meter??

  • i think im faster without a block

  • @nchekube31 thats cause you don't know how to use them.

  • gosh the some of the people on here no nothin about starts cough telkwa cough

  • cool start bro. great arm extensions first 2 steps

  • No longer relevant due to being an old video, but his 2nd and 3rd steps were a little off (incomplete extension) because his first step was too long. Lower ground clearance in the first couple steps the start will help this problem (keeping feet closer to track). His foot landed too far in front of his C.O.M. for the angle he was at to get an effective push, so he had to shorten it before getting back into a nice acceleration. Great extension after recovering from the hiccup though!

  • keeping your feet "lower" to the track is an ambiguous term, if you try to focus on that, then over rotating would occur keeping you out of an effective drive.....

  • @Trabuco34 Your start looks beautiful.. I really can't think of anything to critique it on (I'm a football player, first year in track). Working on my start right now.. My 100m is at 11.85 and I think I can get it down to 11.79. I also just realized this video is 4 years old. But in one of your other vids you run at Macomb CC. Do you run track for them. I live in Michigan as well.

  • @thabest1995 i ran for the University of Arizona

  • @thabest1995 Only 6 Milliseconds??? dude, if your running high 11's there is no reason that with a bit of training you could be running 11.50 or .60.

  • @guitarin1993 really?? didnt know that.. next track season i hope to be in the 11.4s.. then senior year 11.2. i havent trained for track much at all in my life so hopefully.

  • Excellent Start Ur Ready Man

  • nicee

  • nice start

  • Great star Bro...!

  • I thaught he was wearing thongs at the start

  • cool......an indoor stadium and a indoor sprinter.

  • Extremely great start!!!!!

How fast you run in 100m bro???

  • good form!!!!

  • i lov this

  • HEY! I know where this is. This is Michigan State University. I run there every year for the true team invitational and I am going to school there next year.

  • the first step was pretty big.

  • the first step is the key

  • obviously, that doesnt mean you over stride it though thats bad for you.

  • people are talking too much trash. it was a great start. you exploded out of the blocks and that counts.

  • nice explosion

  • No it doesn't, when you move your arm back that far, it causes your opposite leg to go out further, which means your next step will be further out there.

  • Wasn't over striding, was pretty good, he concentrated force onto the ground rather than speed

  • over striding? um no that was perfect, his second step was a little restricted you can tell by his arms. He should open up more on his second step.

    Other than that great form.

  • i'm having a hard time running low out of the blocks and not tripping myself up. it feels very awkward, but from watching videos of myself it seems that i pop up right away and thats bad i think

  • u need to make ur quads stronger

  • how do i know they are strong enough..?

  • u will start to notice yourself bein able to stay low longer out the block oh n strenthin ur abs a lil to

  • you need to take a smaller first step and bend your knees more

  • why smaller first step? the best sprinters have incredibly long first steps. Powells trainer says this about starting: - Long, longer and even longer.

  • the term "long" is relative. so even by what he said, the first step is the shortest

the reasoning that overstriding the first step is very bad is that it straightens the runner up and prevents the runner from staying low.

and if the athlete cant stay low in his drive phae, then he cant get power from diggng in the ground.

he essentially doesnt have his feet under himself

  • your knees are dropping too much before u push off the blocks. u lose time that way

  • do you focus on lifting the toes up? i'm trying to figure out whether focusin on dirsiflexion improves my time

  • good start!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Hi Trabuco! What is his name?

  • hey How Do you set you bloack feet on that , what is your feet or hands block position ?? and at what level do you put the bloack degrees ?

  • the front foot should be 1.5x of your foot size behind the starting line. and you'll get the position of the rear foot when you kneel...your knee should be right beside your front foot. (so sorry my english is bad, i hope it helps)

  • good start especially the jump

  • that's a really good start, what are your times? my start is awful and im looking to get to 11 flat before i graduate (currently 11.38). any tips you could recommend to me with my start? the set position feels really awkward and i have a tough time pumping my arms and staying low in the beginning. any help would be great, thanks.

  • That's not a bad start!!

  • Hey your second step was kinda short, is that intentional?

  • No it wasn't intentional

  • It seems you have a weaker left leg.. its a good start, but maybe you should work on your left leg when doing your strentgh training abit more, since you don't seem to strecht it out completly, and it costs you time. Good luck :)

  • This is Jenison fieldhouse at MSU...do you train there often?

  • You're right. I do train there. Mostly in winter when I'm back home, and winter when I was in High School.

  • ironic, i search for "block start" cause my little cousin wants help with his start, and Jenison Fieldhouse is the first thing that pops up. I'm there every day, I run for MSU.

  • guys he is just posting his start and he didnt ask you guys to blame him for his wrong position blah blah blah...STOP HATING...

  • guys he is just posting his start and he didnt ask you guys to blame him for his wrong position blah blah blah...STOP HATING...

  • y does everyone come on tellin about wat they ran wen they wer 13? every freakin time lol

  • haha yeah well it's all good...i mean it's track and field! all about the ego! no matta what ur age!! =)

  • real talk

  • ur right why 13?? why a number that they people think its an unlucky number?

  • your explosion was amazing and you definitely pushed off the back blocks. make sure you stay low for about 20 meters (drive face) before you go into you acceleration stage.

  • not 20 meters.

  • ok ok i see ya lil white kid

  • ur first step was the shit...then ur second step sucked then u started extra striding...idk if thats how u usually run but it looked like u were doin too much...and u came up really fast...and u should learn to slowly move up and straighten ur abck....ur arms were moving very well...all in all ok starts...what are ur times?

  • yh listen to mr brandan, your cumming too quickly.. sorry that was too obvious :P no your technique is good but you lag with your second step. do u hav any problems with false starts, my technique is similair and i have trouble with it

  • what school you from trabuco?

  • Hey, I've seen you post on TrackShark before.....at least I think that was you, since it was a name similar to what your video posting is under.

  • ha yeah that's me

  • first step primo as.

second step could b about 30cm longer.

    mint tho .. :)

  • Hm. Seems there are some fast 13 year olds...

Wow. Stop being idiots and making rediculous claims. POST SOME VIDEOS to back your statements.

  • man i`m 13 and i do it in 11.6

  • omg lol

how can u be 13 if there is written that ur 19 in ur profile ?

but ur really 13 becose nobody can be naif enough to think that a boy who 13 can run 11.6

nearly all women athletes who have much more muscle than a 13 years old boy can't do that so just stop posting comment and if u will ever be able to run 11.6 u have to start training right now

  • fuck off

  • sure... ^^

  • i'm trying to improve, it'll be better

  • ummmm, not bad! first step was top notch, but then u shortend up to much and came up to quickly!

  • You need to keep your back straighter. U seem to be folding over forwards in a c shape... if you are straighter you will keep the power and run faster. I had this problem also it is very common.

  • man..u are very good...

  • what are your performances??? u have a good start!!

  • your fucken luckey guys to have qualified coaches in your country in my country we have some qualified coaches but not much in long jump and high jump

  • i was running 11.4 when i was 13

  • when I ws 13 I already got 12.05 for 100m. But my start was much worse

  • Dude beasted tha block.

  • great start but ur times are only 13 dang thats not bad but needs to get better im 13 also and i run a 11.6 and amazingly still took 4th in summer games but nice start

  • i got 12,66 and i am 13 and 13,98 on 100mh i am tha best:P and 1,80 high jump 5,91 long jump 40,29 javelin 12,56 shot put 2,54 1000m 39 discus l8tr gangsters

  • 13 for 100 is not bad at all for a 13 year old

  • yeah man keep it up

  • my times are 13 seconds pretty good fo a 13 year old boy

  • what are ur times

  • Damn great start
