  • If there would be C++ demo reel then games would be like crysis, source engine games: L4D2, Portal, Half life 2, and much more... lol

  • @pufixas And these are games that are 6 & 7 years old as of now. So what was your point? L4D2 in 2005 when this was made? Really?

  • @cRIPticon

Crysis 2, L4D2, Portal 2, Modern Warfare, Black Ops, GTA San andreas, GTA 4....

    Is that enough?

  • @pufixas One more time....none of those games were made back when this demo reel, of independent games, was assembled. The games in this clip are 6+ years old. Comparing them to any of the games you insist on listing is not a fair comparison.

  • @cRIPticon

    Wrong.

Half-life 2 was released in 2004, and this demo real was released in 2005

  • @pufixas COngrats! You got one game right! Now, go look at the Chrome videos on YouTube.

  • i turned around

  • Java or Flash AS3?

  • @dervish2173 java it's faster, more power and eeehhhh minecraft was made in it also more 3d

  • @TompanX ok thanks that's very helpful, how about c++ or java?

  • @dervish2173 start with java then use c++

  • @dervish2173

C++, i know c++, c, c#, java, php and python and i can safely tell you that c++ is the best choice. If you find it difficult, start with C and work upto c++.

  • @dervish2173 java

  • whats the program at 0:25

  • Techno Ejay 4 music...

  • *cough* minecraft :) *cough* XD

  • @MrBlockersPro you do know "wurm online" was made by notch?

  • @TompanX yeah, this was a old comment, but, im surprised they didnt include minecraft or any of the other popular java-based games (based because minecraft does use some C++ wroten libraries).

  • @MrBlockersPro Because this video was made in 2005....:)

  • lol the two highest rated comments are complete opposites

  • @jynxgizmo AHAHAA I know!

  • What is the song name?

  • what did you use to make the models?

  • java is fun, thanks for video. Has some good ideas on games to make.

  • Which is better for a first language? C++ or Java? Please reply!

  • @Dizzy2810 If you just want to learn how to program, then I would definitely say java. You will also have an easier time finding resources you can understand. Try checking out these videos [youtubeurl]watch?v=Hl-zzrqQoSE

  • @Dizzy2810 java for first c++ for later cuse c++ is hard as fuck

  • its in swedich on that hockey game in 2.0

  • IF you like java games try out this game: thescaryjavagame(DOT)tk

  • brill vid, i thought it was very professional looking and a great soundtrack to go with it!

    5/5 stars!

  • This video is misleading games like Chrome were not written in java, just the scripting engine which does not have anything to do with 3d rendering, physics, 3d audio or controller input.

  • That was already discussed, years ago, and Chrome was the only one. As for FPS's in Java, there are already several that eclipse Chrome today that are 100% Java.

  • @cRIPticon My FPS is written in Java like Resistance Force, Jake2, Undead Arena, Night Squad 2... Chrome is not the only FPS written in Java and Megacorps Online was fully written with this language, what is wrong?

  • @dban10 the engine is were they base the game of and how well the graphics it can handle

  • Aby Ściągnąć na swój telefon Po prostu wyślij sms o treści game sm5234 na numer 79079 (cena zgodnie z transferem operatora)

  • dang... this is inspiring... i gotta dedicate myself to this type of stuff!!!

  • some of these games are just completely hardcore... these programmers make me want to quit :(

  • These ppl started off not knowing anything about java. Just practice and learn more about them, youll get it down

  • Have you seen the COD2. The graphics are sick!. That makes me sad.

  • would it be a possibilty to know what tools you use with the java jdk and source code with 1:29?

  • Firstly, knowledge.

  • i see in video quake3. I was playing it on my n82 and its running on sis not in java.

  • Because it's not Q3, it's an engine using Q3 maps.

  • maybe you can do this in java but mobile phones cant run that games at normal fps. They just dont have enough power.

  • Ummm...none of these are mobile games and Java is not just for mobile :)

  • @god01UA

Why do you think mobile phones can't run these games?

Flash is very similar to Java. It's even more resource consuming because it's made visually and not entirely from code.

The Android operating system is made in Java, meant for mobile phones. If Android can run Flash games, why wouldn't it be able to run Java as well? Hm.

  • maybe you can do this in java but mobile phones cant run that games at normal fps. They just dont have enough power.

  • that game at 1:52 looks sweet! i was wondering if you could make a game for like the ds lite with java?

  • is the game is free or you have to download the game?

  • chafa

  • What? How?

The things I saw in that video seem waaaaaaay past the capabilities of Java. I'm not saying they're not possible to program, I'm just wondering how they run so smoothly; I've always been under the impression that you can't do anything even remotely graphics-intensive in Java. What libraries are you using that make this possible?

  • The various Java 3D libraries out there simply call out to OpenGL or Direct3D. So why are you surprised? Java compiles processor intensive routines down to native code. What you see in this video is running as native Direct3D or OpenGL code.

Java3D, JMonkeyEngine, jogl, etc. are all more than capable of this kind of performance.

Please lose your "Java is slow" stereotype". Aside from this 3D performance you see here, the control software for the Mars rovers is also written in Java.

  • Update your knowledge, you can do more graphics with Java than any other language (not including the ridiculous effects and possibilities of DirectX). Java is being used more and more in about everything we have nowadays.

  • made this music in Techno Ejay 4? Sounds like it.

  • I'm learning hava right now, its crazy, a lot more network accessible then c++.

  • My favourite is C#, but Java is also good.

  • C++ is the greatest for professional games but for indie games as a c++ programmer id have to say Java because of simplicity and the ability to use it from your browser (although I've never used Java only C++)

  • Well, C++ provides the greatest performance advantage at the hard edge of game performance. However, most PC games made today could be developed completely in modern Java and perform just as well. Just don't build the Crysis engine in it :)

  • C# is also a great alternative. ;)

  • java is awesome...

  • yes.. I should study java instead of c++

  • C++ is the most powerful out of all those languages, so C++ would win, I'm very sorry.

  • Most powerful how? Completely depends on the app.

  • While C++ has more "raw power" Java is a lot easier to program multi-core with. It's hard to say how things will go in the future. One day I hope that we will have a language that adds the ease of Python with C++ power and a (very) easy way to do threads...

  • Assembly is the most efficient, if it comes to that.

  • These were made in Java! Holy ****!!!

  • How exactly do you even create a video game using java?

  • you do not create them. you avoid them.

  • i recommend anyone who wants to learn programming should start with java or c# since they are similar to each other.after you know one of them u pretty much knows most of the stuff in c++ since the 3 of them have similar syntax

  • I started with Gamemaker... It is way cheaper than java and all them

  • java is free...

  • Java is easy to get started, but harder to master than C++

  • Java, is much more easier to learn than C++, Java programmer's are more productive than C++ programmers, Java has a giant library,so instead learning API and OS programming you are learning a language.

  • What program do you use to make games on Java?

Because I have it and have no idea what or how to start editing, writing ect.

  • Slower than what? We can get C++ speed from modern Java today. It is not interpreted, it is compiled at runtime.

  • Yeah older versions of Java were brutal, but it's getting much better.

  • @snap90210: you have no idea what you are talking about.

  • Any advice on the 3D and physics library's that were used? Notably, some of the games sync at the full frame rate: I don't know, is this standard for FSE mode or do you need a separate layer?

  • Google jMonkeyEngine

  • If some of you are interested in a good begining for Java 3D games programming, take a look at JMonkeyEngine (JME), its a 3D games engine and a few of these games were made in this.

Its very simple too, much simpler than using (the now defunked i think) Java3D API.

  • JAVA is awesome!!!!?!? When in doubt, brace it out, that's what I say. LOL...

  • hey what did you study? that's really cool i wanna learn to do that!!!

  • Can we have the links for the freeware games?

  • I like how some of them weren't made with java...

  • The only game shown here that did not use Java on the rendering side was the Chrome game. The game engine, logic, etc. was all written in Java. They used thie own OGL rendering layer. Everything else in the video was written 100% in Java.

  • real nice

  • wow i cant belive java has tat much potential...

  • Is this really java

  • Nice! Cosmic Trip and Chrome look sweet. Hell, they all look fun.

  • So, you want to tell me that these games were created and developed in java? cool!

  • Everybody loves Java :)
