A real heartwarming video. I worked for WJ for many years as did my husband Capt John Lloyd. I'll pass along your video to others who I know will want to view it. I can't thank you enough for your kind dialogue and sensitivity when narrating; not to mention your great camera work and tasteful music. The memories of those wonderful years came flooding back. Even though the tragedy and sadness remain, so also does the heartfelt joy and gratefulness of all who sailed Windjammer.
@NinjaGirl1988 Thank you so much for your feedback. If you would like to watch another Windjammer video entitled "Offshore Eddie" or "Windjammer Mac", go to RJHayes3308. You may remember Eddie, he worked on all the ships repairing sails and he made quite an impression on me. Again, thank you for your kind words. I love to make movies but I love it even more when my work touches other people.
She was truly one of my favorite ships. Worked with Capt. Sturat often and got to build the quarter deck area.....always love my Windjammer days....still building part of the fleet..............
@bigjoe74937 So glad that this brought back nice memories. Just curious, what do you mean when you say you are "still building part of the fleet". Are you a shipbuilder? If you would like to watch my movie entitled, "Offshore Eddie", go to RJHayes3308. You should see it entitled as "Offshore Eddie" or "Windjammer Mac". Thank you again for watching my movie and your generous response.
My wife & I have been on this ship, as well as the other ships .... we truly miss sailing on these ships .... are thoughts are with the crew ... still after all these years .. thanks you for posting this video ... so many memories
Thank you for posting this video. I sailed on the Fantome in October of 1990 and had a wonderful experience. I'm stilled saddened and haunted by the loss of the crew and the ship. But this film brought back many fond memories. Thanks again.
I visited her briefly while I was on the Poly and she rendezvoused with us. I was so sorry to hear of her loss and the loss of Capt. Guyan, who was a true professional. May the Fantome and all her lost souls rest in peace.
I'm just now reading "The Ship & the Storm" after seeing a program on the Weather Channel on hurricane Mitch. They mentioned the Fantome, and I bought the book. This video REALLY gives the book much more depth and a true feeling of the experience. Your video is amazing! I especially enjoyed seeing the fine detailes in the craftsmanship of the ship. Thank you so very much for sharing!
That's not really my kind of cruise, but God bless the Captain and all the crew that went down with her.
