To answer Khaz's question, it's a Valentine One radar/laser detector.
To all the people who were saying he is just trying to be a deterrent: The officer left his RADAR unit on, pointed in another direction. That was the beeps you hear from the start of the video. The other hi/lo beep that you hear right before you see the police car is the officer actively shooting LIDAR/laser at the driver and measuring his speed. 99% of people wouldn't know this was happening, so it wasnt a deterrent.
@mikeholmanlovesyou The cop had his radar on from the beginning, WAY out of range, and pointed in a different direction. The poster was trying to point out that the officer gave away his position because of the radar signal, so the driver had more than enough time to be be driving the limit before he hit him with the laser (the second tone you hear his detector make)...

Cops will hang out in a visible location like that because their presence slows traffic down. Must have had his quota already.

@dussin23 Also, not all police want to pull everyone over who is going over the limit. Some of them only care that your driving isn't a danger.

if he has a hand held radar or laser.. he's all set. he pointed it at you way before you saw him.
