  • K guys herez answers to all f your problems.

1.instant alpha fuckup DOES NOT show the percentage ?...well no need for the percentage when u select alpha the box go pink den just hit the back space and it will disappear then press and drag on to the same box which just disappeared...it will highlight the box and simply press command and V to copy it.den go click the new folder you made and follow the vid.

  • 2.The problem after making it invisible you cant fuckin OPEN it.

This happens coz when you name it just SPACE ur holding on to the folder is kinda ticky so what you gota do is inter space few more time to the title is bigger then just a spot so after tht is much easier to hold on to it and move it and open it. IF still not just High light the folder and press CMD+O This will open it. if your using the mouse try grabin the folder by its title ;) have fun..

  • LOL your commentary ahahah that was a great video though :D

  • @mactipspodcast how do i undo this???? PLEASE HELP!!

  • how can i undo this?

  • how can i unhidden it ?

  • hey i did this ages ago to hide a folder, and i can't find it now???

i try rearranging all the icons, changing the size, doing command+A, and i can't find the hidden folder??

    any tips/ideas?

    thanks in advance!

  • For those not getting 100% with the Instant Alpha tool, still use it to select the white box. Once it's selected, CMD+C & paste it the same way he did in the video & it should work.

  • @NigelTheRobot Still does not work for me. I get a squared white folder icon.. :(

  • @NigelTheRobot I have that problem but still does not work! :( Sure that should work?

  • Hi, that is a neat trick :-) If you want to hide a few more files you can use a tool from us called UberMask from novamedia.de which will hide files and folders with a simple key stroke. Tell me what you think. If anyone wants to make a youtube video of UberMask, I issue free keys. Just drop me a mail to info (at) novamedia.de.

    Kind regards,

    Jan Fuellemann

  • I also do not get the 100% part when using the alpha tool, and then I press return/enter and nothing happens.

  • 1:26 "IT'S FOUR O'CLOCK'"

  • I like the content of your vid, but my god, haven't you ever heard of EDITING?? The goofs, backtracks, time announcement, and missteps, all make it look really amateurish.

  • hey mate when i use the instant alpha and do what you say --

it simply turns the photo pink .

there are no numbers ie. 50% whatever it just turns pink then white again. it simply SELECTS the image

  • @jrmyyyx mine does this too. its not working like in the video. what do we do???

  • if you name your pictures/files with spaces then it doesn't appear in spotlight :) hope that helps

  • awesome

  • what happens if they just look in finder they will be able to see the files

  • if you do this on an external, will the folder stll be hidden on a pc

  • @pablog0238 I dont think so, if you apply an icon in OS X it usually just changes it to the standard folder icon.

  • my one doesn't show that it is 100% being dragged! help PLZ!!

  • Hi, I did it, but the hidden file just don't move or open!!!! please help me !!!

  • Okay, it's a clever trick making it invisible like that, but it's not really hidden - go look at the desktop in a Finder window and the blank line or space looks pretty obvious. And you don't need to go randomly selecting chunks of the desktop to accidentally reveal it when ⌘+A selects the whole lot. All in all not much extra security. There are much more effective ways that really hide folders and files from Finder itself with a Terminal command or two. Google for 'em.

  • Hello Everybody..I Just wanted to show Everybody... :)

  • If you have 10.6.7, use the "Rectangular Selection" instead of "Instant Alpha" for your screenshot. Drag across entire picture and hit DELETE. Use Rectangular tool again to make a new box (outline on gray background) COPY that box and apply to folder icon. Check out Captainwinky84 for video tutorial

  • Instant Alpha does not work in 10.6.7

  • Freakin genius

  • That's hot!

  • DAM my keyboard do not have a return and it gos pink but dose not have a percent

  • @aCardboardTube try the enter key

  • My instant alpha tool doesn't have a percentage indicator, and it won't select a larger area than just the white square. Any ideas?? :(

  • @mrt32 yeah me 2

  • @mrt32 me too haha

  • the tutorial was going great until you said "i can name it space" at around 2:07... After that you just kinda caused a bunch of confusion for anyone who's really trying to take it step by step ;-( boohoo

  • But if you check the desktop folder in Finder you can see a big blank space which shows you there is an invisble folder, so it's not much use. Duh.

  • when i use the instant alpha thing it dosnt say percents and i cant make it transparent. anyone want to gelp out

  • wats in that other folder?? :))

  • Can't you just right-click on a folder, hit properties and hide the file/s?... o_O'

  • Instant Alpha does absolutely nothing.

  • When I select the Instant Alpha tool... no percentage marker shows for me.

  • @Darkprince650 just select it with instant alpha tool and press backspace button ( above the return button , <-- ) so then you aint got a pic anymore . next thing you want to do is select rectangular selection and just drag somewhere and you copy that .

  • you still see it in Finder. but then without a name

  • Lock the read permissions on it too then nobody can open it without a password even if they did find it.

  • @MrGizmo757 if you do that, they can't just delete ur file but others can see it,,,

  • Yes... how efficient... Or maybe not. This is the only thing I dislike about Mac. I converted 10 months ago and to go through this whole ridiculous process when all you had to do before is click 'Hide', is slightly absurd. Not that your way isn't effective. It does the job and it's a good trick and I appreciate you making the video =)

  • it didnt work for me

  • hmmm, brilliant, but i wouldnt do this on the desktop, in some other folders, a Cmd a can show every thing....

  • "Oh my other hidden folder" <-- the PRON!

  • select one of the videos and hit *command* *I* once the prefrences windo is up you can hit hide extensions (its a small little box taht u can click on) and this will take care of your problem

  • uh hat about when you search for something?

  • you can use screenflow

  • interesting tip and good for some situations though not really secure of course. it'll show up in search results, in finder and when u hit select all on your desktop or when u decide to "clean up selection" or "organize by" of your desktop or whatever folder u put it in. thanks anyway.

  • Truly cool!

  • not that I know of, other than dont put it on your desktop. Maybe somewhere where they wouldnt look like your home folder.

  • If I had a mac, I would def. do that!

    That is awesome!

    Hide all your porn ;)
