  • I would like to see a finished journal like this. Great idea I think.

  • this is great. I am new to art journals, and like yourself, I don't measure stuff, b/c I am not good with numbers. I do have a ? for you. What kind of gesso do you use. I have found that there are several different types of textures.

Also, do you do a page and then put it in the clip rings. I make altered art journals with fabric, photos and batting and use those clip rings as well. I add ribbon or fabric to them just to add a little punch of color.

    thanks

  • @oceanpoet1 I usually do my journaling with the pages off the rings then when they dry I add them :) I used two types of gesso, I have the Golden brand which is pricey but very nice, but mostly I use some cheap stuff I got from a local store, it's a bit powdery and grainy but I like that texture :) I also have clear gesso from Liqutex but it's texture is even more grainy feeling. Handy though when you want to cover something so you can keep working and adding layers without covering it

  • love this idea. i've started saving cereal boxes.

  • I really like this idea. Thanks for sharing. Hmm, that gives me an idea!

  • @BonnieinSC it's a fun idea and I use all kinds of cardboard to play with, dog food packaging, soft drink boxes. I seem to get more use out those then actually store bought books and if you don't like something you can always stick it back in the recycle bin ;) Thanks for commenting

  • I love junk journals...it's especially fun when you find a cool shape like you did. It's a nice way to have thick pages from packaging which you are going to cover up with paint anyway... nice! Keep it up - art journaling is so fun :)
