  • Nondeju wat een vet nummer.

  • These guys are back, big in 2009. They are so f00kin' incredible it's stupid.

  • this confirms it.....

    the 90s were awesome

  • I clicked on the 'remix' version floating on here to show my wife 'Nothingness' before we see them live, heard the tinny bass/drum, stopped, looked and found this one. My wife said, somewhat annoyed that she'd been duped, 'sounds better!'.

  • man i listened to this song when i was going through one of the best times of my life wicked vid wicked song parties dancing good times.

  • Existentialism...

  • Man, I love this song...the bass is amazing! I remember listening to this album a LOT when it came out.

  • Read an interview of Doug Wimbish in Bass Player (I think it was in 1999 on the heels of the Jungle Funk release) he got that great swooping high lick using a DigiTech Whammy pedal. But I could buy one an still not sound that %#((*@@%% good! Can't wait to see those guys 9/24.

  • Corey sang his vocals in a bucket, that's why it has that eerie sound to it.

  • This was their best album in my opinion, it holds up the best after so many years and it's their most mature release. Glover, Reid, Wimbish, Calhoun, man what a fucking lineup. Can't go wrong there.

  • The solo piano acoustic version is also amazing

  • So much melancholy when I listen to it....The mood of music and lyrics...I used to perform it in Italy just when it came out with a band of guys from Florence, and every time I used to feel a lot of commotion.

  • Loved the shit out this song. Corey Glover had some great vocals....

We need more great black rock.

  • Its a shame there isnt more. Black people just wont support it. They are addicted to that ignorant hip hop garbage which makes is so detrimental on so many levels.

  • well for the most part i'd agree with you. but isn't there some good rappers out there now. i mean they're not all that mainstream like Lupe Fiasco CommonSense Talib Kwali etc.? i realize you wrote this like 1 month ago but i dont feel all of rap sux. except for that soulja shit music

  • one of the best bands ever, what a sound

  • Gran banda!! Great band!! Aguante living colour!! son todos grandes músicos, realmente da gusto escuchar rock que suene tan bien...

  • Yes and for you, Long Live Gay Music, because obviously you like it, how dare you put down such a talented band.. Go suck a banana!!!

  • I am a drummer and I always liked the band a lot. I know a lot of musicians and most of them when asked about LC say that if the guitarist wasn't into dissonance so much they would like them more. I think they were all good. The drummer is outstanding. He has a lot more chops than he shows in his recorded works but he plays for the song.

  • his name is will calhoun and he came from a jazz backgound. google his name and learn more about him. great band and thay never got their due.

  • Wauw, I didn't know there was a video for this song. This is the best song of Stain :)

    Thanks for sharing.

  • These guys knew how to rock. I'm surprised more people didn't like them.

  • know how to rock. They are still around bro. And just as killer as ever.

  • I miss the original line-up though. Muzz was incredibly talented.

  • if this band was white i know they were more populair fucking racism

  • Scott Ian of Anthrax said it - 'If they were white, they would have sold twice as many records.' Lots of influential black groups get underrated. Bad Brains, 24/7 Spyz and others I can't recall right now are not given their due because of race.. Black people are into more than just hip-hop, and were instrumental in the development of rock as well as other musical forms. Race does not equal musical genre, but sadly it happens that ethnicity comes into play when determining success and fame.

  • Don't forget Fishbone.

  • I could never forget Fishbone. Some of THE most important albums and songs ever made, and they are still going strong. It's hard to list all of the bands, but I'm sure others will remind me of who I missed. From Chuck Berry to Jimi Hendrix, Ray Charles to Stevie Wonder...

  • With this song I can go my living room with no lights and just play this song.

  • These guys were one of my favorite bands in the late 80's and early 90's. Unfortunately, they got swarmed over by the grunge movement (Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Candlebox...etc.). The musicianship became less important then the tuned down anger rock that pushed these guys aside.

  • the best underated band ever!

  • To Wegorz78: you're absolutely right :)

  • Thank Youto whoever made this available!Stain is one of the most important albums ever.Love Living Color.Check out "Doug Wimbish"for more Genius

  • this song is timeless

  • Cory Glover is an amazing singer, his solo albums is extremily well done.

  • Great song

  • rage against the machine livin colour the clash system of a down pearl jam are all wonderful

  • One of the best bands of the 90s.Living colour is cool

  • These guys are timeless.

Lyrically one of the best bands out there..of all time.

  • I agree with you... but I have the original CD and it doesn't have the lyrics but only one :(

  • kurwa. kiedyś to był miusic . teraz samo gówno . wechikuł czasu to byłby cud ....

  • i'm not black but i just gotta say that black people has made the best music ever. kings x, hendrix and tony macalpine, they are the best!

  • keep in mind Hendrix's band and Kings X are 2/3s white :)

  • i think this band is way underated

  • Poignant song, I really can relate.

    One of my favourites.

  • you people are great - fellow living colour fans. You understand. Not many did (then or now).

  • Absolutely haunting song. I love it!

  • living colour is way underated

  • This song has a killer bassline!

  • Awsome band. Very underrated. They have so many great dark songs and so many upbeat songs.

  • Today I found out they're back.

  • lol...someone just discovered the wonderful world of the Living Colour. Welcome!

  • I picked up on living colour back when "vivid" came out. Before they toured with the rolling stones."Times up" was always a great cd to listen to on the sony walkman. The song "nothingness" however has had a way to permiate my soul. I've had this song in my head for days at times. Not many songs have EVER done this.

  • weird rock i didn't know that this band existed

  • I've listened to this song like 15 times in a row now! Doesn't get much better than this!

  • This song is a hidden gem. I listened to it all the time in the 90's and now it finds me again. The crickets are so haunting...I love it.

  • One of the best songs ever period. There is an acoustic version with just Corey and a piano out there somewhere that gives me chills every time I hear it

  • I've always thought that this band was amazing. Not only that their music was good, but they pushed the frontiers, and weren't what people expected.

  • Blackdragon so so true.Best time for music of all styles across all boundaries...great bands we will probably never see the like ever again.(sadly 4 us)

  • Madly clicking 'thumbs up' on blackdragon's comment. I second, third, fourth that comment.

  • as do I

  • one of my favorite all time songs

  • Top bass line!

  • I have every album this band has put out, and that was before disc. Thanks for putting this video on the Tube I didn't even know there was one, very cool.

  • The song is deep. I believe Will's father died and thats the inspiration behind it. I love the line he wrote about Nothingness.."Nothing lasts forever." Its such a cool twist.

  • Great song written by Will Calhoun (the best drummer in rock)it helped me get through the death of my grandmother.

  • I'm glad this song helped you through your bereavement; it's a good track. But Will Calhoun is hardly the best drummer in rock.

  • These guys were so freakin' good live. I saw them in San Francisco at a small club and got the luxury of sitting on stage for the entire concert...so eclectic and cool.

  • Jas24x4, you ain't lying! Living Colour gave the best live performance I have ever seen back in 1990 in New Britain, Connecticut. They just got back from a year on the road touring with Anthrax. Killer musicians, tight band, nonstop energy from the beginning of the show to the end.

  • You mean Keep the Faith starts like Nothingness.....It's the older song. I like this song a hell of alot better that's for sure.

  • What the hell are you talking about? Not even close.

  • They got back together. Check it out!

  • So underrated super group, so many superb songs, such a shame...

  • this is a GREAT video from a band that "said something", as well as played like demons. yeah, hard to find good s**t anymore.

BTW, Corey is NOT Danny GLover's son. Corey was raised in a foster home in NY; an old friend of mine lived with him when they were kids and introduced me in 2002.

  • greetings from Portugal for this excellent band.

  • Still can't believe the lead singer is Danny Glover's son...too cool.

  • he's not the last name is just a coincidence lol

  • Awesome song! Awesome rockers! Where is the good music for now.......Gotta always listen to the oldies. I had a dog that I named Vernon Reed. HA Kick ass!

  • My favourite song by them. Does anyone have piano acoustic version? It's awesome!

  • excellent!!!

  • i love thesguys <3

  • I saw them warm up for the Rolling Stones in 89 in the old Foxbourough stadium...I thought they were great, so did my brothers and all of the fans my age.But some of the old timers hard core, hard drinking, hard snorting burnouts booed them and yelled racial slurs.

So much for the free thinking children of the 60's.

  • I always loved that subtle cricket sound in the background - this song is absolutely fantastic and Stain is an unbelievable album. These guys really make me sad for the state of modern 'rock' music, which is 98% brainless crap.

  • well sayed :)

  • totally agree!

  • I loved the early 90's... A period when whites made hip-hop and blacks made rock, not as a gimmick

  • the 90's was such a great and diverse decade..hip-hop was pure, rock was eclectic...good times man good times.

  • Agreed, although the music you speak of still exists today most of it won't see the light of day. MTV has bled out the true artistry of music in the main-stream and formed a generic sound for every genre of music. Imagine where music would be if the momentem of the 90's carried through to present day.

  • that's so true, blackdragon and wisetrashman. It all went wrong when record labels decided making quick profits was better than finding talent and allowing it to develop.

  • This is such a beautiful song. It's a shame it didn't become a hit, but the grunge scene was taking over. I'm glad they didn't change their style and start wearing flannel like a lot of bands did at the time.

  • what a tune!!!!

  • A true classic from a very underestimated band.

  • I know! Seriously I hadn't heard of these guys until one of their songs came out on GH3. I wish these guys were better known so a tons of people could hear this brilliant band

  • just for the record... they arent exactly underestimated... there are a whole fuckin lot of people that know about Living Coulor... theyve had a good many big hits... they just arent a newer band... they been around for a while... so theyve kinda came and gone... they were bad as hell though

  • they are awesome. But they aren't unknown at all. You just gotta remember that these guys came out over 20 years ago.

  • true, but they aren't known so well you've gotta admit.

  • Seems they're mostly (only?) known for "Cult of Personality," which was on their first album back in 1988. I thought, musically and maturity-wise, they got better with each album. I think "Stain" is their overall best album. "Collideoscope" is also good, but it seems they've passed by their "inspiration" prime, but I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled off a great album, but it seems there's too much tension between the members, don't know if that ever fully went away.

  • I get angry thinking that a band like L.C. doesn't have room in MTV and other shit like that. Their music has no age, no color but it's just supreme...

  • i feel the same way great point you made

  • Una canción deliciosa.

  • Living Colour, Lajon Witherspoon from Sevendust, Brothers know how to rock, and rock hard. If only more did.

  • Awesome band.. great sound.

  • perfect song,i love it

  • Thanks for posting this. Great song.

  • Simply one of the best songs ever. THese guys are one of the most underrated bands of all time. Vernon Reid is amazing.

  • What a depressing and yet wonderful song. It got me through some tough times so it hold a very special place in my heart.

  • I just readed that Wimbish plays on Tarja Turunen's ex-nightwish, record

  • Wimbish played on hundereds of records, from Mick Jagger, to Carley Simon, etc. He also toured with the biggest singers and musicians in the world. He also played the bass on "Rappers Delight" by the Sugarhill Gang and also "The Message" by Grandmaster Flash. From 1979 to 1984 he played the bass on every recording released by Sugarhill Records. Amazing talent.

  • That bassline (rappers delight) is sampled from Good Times by Chic. I agree though, that Doug is the man.

  • Rappers Delight bassline is not sampled. When Sugarhill records was around they had a house Band. They would not sample they would just rerecord popular rhythms. The Band consisted of Keith LeBlanc on Drums, Skip McDonald on Guitar and Dough wimbish on Bass. Musican magezine called them the best band you never heard of. They were all from Connecticut. Also Sugarhill records would employ "The chops horn section" to play the horn lines on their records.

  • almost true, wimbish and the sugarhill house band didnt play on rappers delight, another local band did, but they did play in just about every other sugarhill release.

  • Are you sure, I'll check with Dough the next time I see Him. His family lives in the next town adjacent to mine.

  • Winbush really showed his skills here. He can REALLY shine! What else can I say about Corey, Will and Vernon that has not already been said.

  • Was he a new mamber here or was he there from the very start?

  • great, timeless music

  • Brilliant song. One of my favorites from Living Colour. If you ever get a chance to see them live then do so. You won't be disappointed.

  • damn, nothing sounds like this anymore.

    everything's perfect...thanks living color!!

  • Grazie timesup

  • Nothingness

    Lonliness

    Empty chest

    And nothing lasts forever

    Nothing lasts forever

    Nothing lasts forever

    Nothing lasts forever

    Nothing lasts forever

  • very nice song the best "calm" song of stain if not the unique "calm" song of stain. Hear it in acoustic version is just amazing....even never satisfied in acoustic is incredible there you realize how they are huge musicians and not just histeric hard rockers;;; waht do you think??

  • zajebiste,,living color to duzy czad!!!!!

  • Esta musica e linda!!!

  • Ahead of the Times! Wow MIDI guitar....Vernon oh my God!

Corey your voice is just the perfect voice for this tune .Could not have done it better guys!Flash back from all that acid ..

  • Very Gary Numan-esque. NICE!

  • One of my favorite songs from "Stain" I didn't know there was a music video for it.

  • This song brings tears to my eyes. What a voice and what a band!

  • this song contains the best bassline of all time

  • i love this bass line!

  • its a good song

  • One of the most talented and tasty group of musicians ever. Period.

Thanks for sharing!!!! The world needs more L.C.

  • AGREED!!!!!!

  • Wow! Memories! Saw them in the late 80's. Loved them....very underrated.

  • Stain threw me; but, it seems to have aged really well; i'm going to have to by all of living colour on cd's because all of my tapes have become warped!

  • too true dude, brings back so many memories, quality band, very underated.need to buy stain again myself

  • Always makes me tear up a bit when I hear it. I didn't even know they made a video of it. Man I'd love to have that to watch on tv. That song from Corey's vocals as got the best ambience for a song EVER. I always have to listen to the song at least three times before going on to another song.

THANKS GUYS FOR PUTTING THIS ON YOUTUBE!!!!!!!!

  • Wow,what a song and video. Here is a bit of info on the vocals. I read that Corey did the vocals outside and sang into a type of satellite dish. That's why you here the outdoor ambience(crickets etc..)when the track starts (easier to hear on better resolution)It also gives the vocals that fantastic ambient quality.love how innovative the band are.

  • oh bro, I knew about that before I even heard the recording. Can't remember how I heard about it though. It made fore some very eerie sounding vocals.

  • G-R-E-A-T song.Przepiękne brzmienie gitary.Kocham Living colour

  • they are great. it is a shame i never saw them live. beautiful song on an excellent album!

  • I love Living Colour. I saw them in NYC in 04. This band was my very first cd that I owned in 91/ KC ( thank you for posting this )

  • one of the best songs of all time!!!!

  • YES,it is good(Y)

  • i really love this song

  • Absolutely adorable, awesome song. Perfect. Great video too. This song gives me thrills.

  • Not all LC songs have aged well, but "Nothingness" is still great. Stain was such a weird little gem.

  • Holy Fertilizer! This is f00kin' awesome! Thanks for the post! When I saw them in '93, "Nothingness" was one of the high points - stage fog and trippy purple lights. "Bi" was another - very theatrical & Corey was hilarious.

  • Great song -- beautiful guitar work by Vernon Reid. Great vocals, a funky beat and some smooth-ass fretless thump. Awesome. Thanks for posting.
