Love can be bitter love can be sweet

    Sometimes devotion and sometimes deceit

The ones that you care for give you so much pain

  • Another aMAZEing classic!!

  • This version must have been recorded on a live-album coz this is exactly the same as on 'Ferry Maat's soulshow triple cd series. He did often live versions on the radio.

  • My dad always listened to them and my heart was just smiling when I heard them and I just see my dad bobbing his head to their music. I miss him so much but I hope he hears it.

  • it dont git no better then these brothers.....class artist....they git better with age!!!!

  • Great to see them at the 02 on saturday, although i wish they did more than 45 min set... but you know what? since the first time I heard the Live album, I've always wanted to sing Joy and Pain with Frankie and Maze and 1000 others... I've done it now :-) Box ticked. :-)

  • I think Frankie Beverly and Maze is the best of all time. I have been listening since I was a teenager and as an adult I still think they are the best.

  • Wow what a blast from the past , i can remember dancing to this. I still love it

  • Wow! I remember seeing this band back in 82 or 83 as a part of the Budweiser Superfest in Birmingham, AL. I was about 12 for 13 at the time. The concert included the likes of New Edition, the Deal (former group of Babyface), and a couple of other acts. Frankie Beverly, by far, was the most memorable and most exciting.....and I was about 12 or 13! Love this video! Takes me back to hearing my parents play this when I was younger!

  • I know only this version! lol!

  • super super , war life dabei !!! coole party war das.

  • I waited over 20 yeras to see Mr Beverly and Maze, They toured the UK again last year, I had such a Great night I was even thinking of going to see them in the states this year, I have seen many of the greats live but F B & Maze, Frankie and the Band know how to WOW a Crowd

  • Their concerts are still off the chain TO THIS DAY!! This is what u call TIMELESS music!!

  • @fredrolee It doesn't get much better than this!

  • Awesome! thanks Bobby for leading us here! Amazing story about Stuart Iowa!

  • This is a great great man, a visionary, a humanitarian, a healer, and a personal friend. Frankie and his orginal band from the Philly days, "Raw Soul", were stranded in my little all white rural Iowa town in '72, It took nearly a month to get a replacement engine for their old bus, and during that time Frankie & Co were "adopted" by my fair little city and offered food, shelter and friendship.

See the liner notes in "Greatest Slow Jams" to read a reference to this event.

  • @TFCTalent Hate to pull you up but Frankie's first group was Frank Beverly and the Butlers, who had a fair few floorfillers very popular on the UK's northern soul scene.

  • this is definitly 1981 live in new orleans. I watched it on Don Kirshners rock concerts on late saturday nights!!!!

  • saw maze in oakland severel times from the mid 70's to the late 80's...totaly great live...i think on some occasions there were like over 20 people in the band...

like i said...an exceptional band to see live...

  • great. is there any other footage around from this particular concert?

  • This is real music.a really magical song with sevenths and nineths accords can travel you to magical places with the pleasure of the sunrise or the sunset the blue sea and the sunshine playing with the waves.or on a mountain with a green valley down over and the blue sky above with little clouds. congratulations for posting this video.

  • Yes - soulful music inspires expansion of the soul to all that is beautiful :)

  • i'm 26 and i feel like from 2002 to now is garbage

  • Correct. 2001 was the last great for full-length albums. Thank God for old-school and the existance of recordings!!

  • Frankie has millions, I mean millions!

  • These dudes still got it!!!! Great jam!

  • I'm still in my twenties, and THIS... IS real music. THAT was real music.

  • Im 46 and I loved music in the 40's and 50's before i WAS BORN....Someday if you ever REALLY listen to the words of music you will learn what REAL music is all about.. Not the GARBAGE of today!!!

  • A time when we had REAL music!!

  • after listening to maze you will only have joy no pain

  • its one thing to be good, but its another thing when you have a powerful band to back you up. Go Frankie!

  • just go put your good shoes on and give it up to the boys all that!!!!!!!!!!!!!love

  • Amazin! Like back in the day..
