You might want to check out a book called "The Coming Plague" by Laurie Garret. It's excellent reading, highly respected in the field and the author is a world famous epidemiologist.

You should also get either a Naval or an Army medical survival handbook they cover every contingency you could think of. A a good book on old home and Native American cures for various ailments and diseases would be good to have handy as well.

Keep in mind that the speed that the pandemics spread has changed in our society because a person can get to anywhere in the world in a short amount of time. Watch the hubs of transportation (Chicago, New York, etc.) to get an idea of the movement

I dont recommend looking at the past as to what to do in the event of a pandemic simply because current information is much better now than it was all those years ago. Basic self reliance skills and the ability to remain in your own home for weeks or even up to a year will keep you and your family from exposure and give time for it to pass. Also, many people who stutter are usually also VERY intellegent! People who make fun of stutterers are always Dumbasses!

do not worry about having your immune system too built up, as the authorities say that it is the healthy ones that will be more effected by this minor viral strain. My guess is that this minor strain is a precursor to an engineered or mutant strain that will be the killer. The difficulty of viral bio-weapons is that a virulent strain kills the host prior to wide spread distribution. Therefore a phasic run of sequential pathogens should be expected. A built up immune system is an advantage. tj

Ironically, I looked into plagues last night also.

Absolutely agree, history is a great teacher.

It amazed me to find that small pox (one of the worst plagues in history) was almost eradicated completely, only two countries hold skin lesions containing small pox (the US and Russia Gov) they were supposed to be destroyed but neither country has destroyed the samples-even though there is no known reason to retain them. The US is still using ours...for who knows what???

Distilled water is actually harmful to health, your body isn't designed to process it. If its been distilled then it lacks crucial mineral ions.

i don't think Harmful is the word. your body processes it just the same. tap water however is impregnated by water companies with minerals and chemicals that are beneficial to your health. Distilled water lack these extra nutrients but in no way harms humans. its a million time better than any sugary drink that most americans drink such as coke or Gatorade.

Going in the wodds may not be the best for 99% of the population for so many reasons. This is the plan for so many right now. First if there were a disaster statewide or nationwide the woods would be flooded with people with the same idea probably millions. The potential for danger would be even higher, Military troops will be combing the woods, and most people only have basic camping skills and will end up hurt or dead. If you live in Alaska or Idaho and have skills it would work.

My understanding is that because it creates a cytokine storm (an hyper immunological reaction) that those with the most healthy immune systems are at risk.
