I find these theories on why the band changed and made certain choices amusing, however these self created band histories and biographies are at their best entertaining. If you have that much hatred to retell self-created stories then you obviously care too much and need to let it go, FOR REAL.

The only original members in AFI right now are Adam and Davey. Hunter and Jade didn't come into the picture until around Shut Your Mouth/Black Sails. Before that it was Mark and Geoff.

he was in AFI when the were punk, he left, they got softer

when he was in tiger army they played more punk sounding stuff, he left and they went softer too

You do know that Hunter played bass guitar in the album SYMOYE, which is arguably the peak of AFI's hardcore-ness. Also Geoff left Tiger Army after their 3rd full length album and in my opinion Tiger Army III: Ghost Tigers Rise and Music from the Regions Beyond dont sound that much different (compared to Tiger Army I & II). Lastly even though Geoff contributed to the lyrics of AFI's earlier work, Nick 13 is the main songwriter of Tiger Army.
