No one will ever sing "My Girl" as well as David Ruffin did. That being said Ali is amazing. He sounds almost exactly like Ruffin and but still makes the song his own. I usually don't like other artists cover of the song but I love Ali's.
this is beautiful!! ron tyson does a song called corner of my heart (it was either the Milestone or to be continued album)-think it was milestone. he also has a fairly new one out called Got my swagger back which is really good. i tried to find it but couldn't. if anyone has it i would be very grateful if you would post it! thanks soso much for posting this medley of the temps.!!!!!
Time stands still when one listens to these songs. Ali , at times sounded so much like David , I could see David's reflection in his face. The're all gone to soon. I hope they're singing together in that place that my five year old grandson ,so aptly called - "the futhure>. "
This is a great version of this song. Well done by all concerned! Thats whyI love the tempts - "O" puts together some beautiful hormanys for the group, it still gets better. Ali my hat off to this great singer. Wonderful job!
Anyone thinking about getting into the music business should be made to watch this video and have to study Motownology! So they can learn their craft, get the class and then put out quality! And Ron, or Eddie, both great voices and always a timeless great group! Peace and a great close your eyes and see the music jam session right here!
hi jakejax! you are so right. my husband just told me it was dennis edwards on lead. after the concert we saw otis leave with a girl on each arm and he had this great cape on. i got it mixed up. thanks for commenting!
@dogcat126 No worries. Thanks for sharing your story. Otis is quite the ladies man, and whether or not he sang lead, I'm sure It was a great show. I'm jealous. As great as they are live nowadays, I bet it was epic to see during that time. Rock on.
i have been listening to the temps for many many years-got to see them in the early 70's along with the supremes at the university of houston where i was attending college. otis was on lead then. then i got to see them here in san antonio with aliollie singing lead.i tell you-i love them all! THANK YOU SOSO MUCH FOR POSTING!
Otis rarely leads. If you got to see him sing a lead, you are one lucky Temptations fan, I've been to many many Temptations shows, and never had the pleasure.
Of all the singing groups ...of all time...I SWEAR NONE WILL EVER COME CLOSE TO THE TEMPS..........NONE NEVER!!!....THIS IS SINGING PERFECTION AT ITS FINEST ..I AM GLAD I GOT TO SEE THEM IN MY LIFETIME...THEY ARE THE BEST TIME WILL ALLOW US TO LISTEN TO...I SWEAR THIS!!
@SyrenniaLestrange Glad she didn't try to strike you down lol. To answer your previous question, Dennis Edwards sang lead on the original "Superstar."
Man, this is just real soul music. Ain't nothing but a simple piano and plain, ole "sanging". I could listen to this all day long. Reminds me of the brothers who used to stand on the street corner back in Memphis and sing just like this. Thanks for posting!
@Msredhoney720 yeah I was expected to be disappointed in this video, but wow Ron Tyson sounds great. Is that Richard Street in the glasses? What a dorky look he has. I wonder if this is like a christmas video or something. Look how emotional Melvin Franklin is while singing. Only wish the Temptations did this with all original lineup.
RIP Ollie Woodson, you will be missed. What an inspiration and genuine friend. Your suffering is over now, thank you for all the generous gifts you shared with us!
That's Victor Carstaphen on piano by the way. He's an amazing pianist, and has worked on many temptations albums. He still plays keyboards for them if you go see them live.
"Traditional" Temps fans will call me a blasphemer but regardless, I like Ron Tyson's lead of "Just My Imagination" more than any other first tenor the Temps have had...even Eddie. I can't describe how his style is different but I just love his take on this song.
@JoeFlow88 ,its cool, i think Eddie's does the best, i think his best rendition is when he sung live on the Ed Sullivan Show and on the acapella track, but to each their own. Ron Tyson definitely does a great job
Dude, there are temps fans on your side. I don't think anyone has ever performed it live as well as Ron. I think Eddie's recording is unstoppable though, its amazing. Ron is underrated and amazing. I think he's actually better at singing the song now that he ever has been. When you sing a song for 27 years, you learn to do it effortlessly.
@JakeJax ,true, but how many times have we heard Eddie perform this live, once probably.Maybe some might feel differently if there were more live versions of Eddie performing this song. But yeah Ron does a fantastic job
All I can say I good God almighty!! I think the only person in the rotatiting groups of Temps line ups would be Melvin Frankiklin. Maybe the guy who sings bass for The Fairfield Four could hang with BLUE but he is thye only singer I have ever heard who could touch BLUE. You know somewhere tonight guys like , Blue, Eddie, Dadvid, Otis Redding, Ray, and many others are putting on a show money can never buy. %RIP guys % Your legacy will live forever in your music.
@BLUEIYEDSOUL I have to disagree with you on one note...There is no comparison to Dickie Freeman, and Melvin...Pull up the video on the Fairfield four called today...they are in rehearsal for the song called today..before rehearsal, they say a prayer and singing in the background...there is no visable mic...listen to the bass on Mr. Freeman...I have never heard Melvin's range that low, even with a mic..just my opinion...
@laidyeh ,I heard it, the bass is low on that one, but Melvin did get lower on Old Man River and I Could Never Stop Loving You. I dont think any bass singer ever, got as low as Melvin, in my opinion.
Love these renditions!...I can visualize this being recorded in the famed Studio A, Hitsville USA...Take note you so-called "singers" of today: The Temps are singing AND harmonizing this good with JUST a piano accompanist! No extraneous flash-and-dash BS...just 2 classic songs, 5 HARMONIOUS voices, 1 piano and a legacy that has and will last through time! Temptations Forever!
Never heard this version before,RON TYSON sounds nothing like Eddie Kendricks I think RON TYSON has a great voice. Thats why I like dis version it he is not trying like to sound Eddie Much Props. Ali Ollie Woodson has a great voice
Ron has always been an amazing temps tenor, because he was not trying to be an eddie clone...he stayed true to eddie's stuff, but always gave it his own flavor. He still does. Great stuff.
:@chadcris28: "Ron Tyson sounds nothing like Eddie Kendricks, I think Ron Tyson has great voice." I didnot at first, but now I realize, I second that emotion!! because Ron Tyson very much has his OWN VOICE!!!!!.

@JoeFlow88 A little lower pitched, a little softer and mellower. That goes for all the vocals. More tender than the original.
