religious people are spineless hypocrite who oppose science and yet they would be the first to use the cure that science has procure, absolutely disgusting.
Most if not all religious people will go on and on about how scientific evidence can not be trusted, and that the world-view actually looking at the world shows is a false one, yet the very second something is found which could possibly fit together with their faith, they gladly accept it as true and might even TAKE CREDIT FOR IT
Theists are just DESPERATE for evidence, and they'll twist the facts to fit their views if need be.
It's no wonder bible zealots think man was created in god's image. The god that is documented in the bible is a petty, selfish, vindictive, egotistical, intolerant, inconsistent jerk. These are precisely the characteristics I observe among monotheists all the time. I must say though, it's not what I would expect from a being of alleged infinite morality. Could it be that god was created in the image of the author? Hmmm.
@drjrich222 You again? Is this all you guys do? Sounds petty. And yes, monotheists are SO intolerant! So we shouldn't tolerate them, right? Oh wait...that'd be inconsistent.
@adabsurdum55 Hahaha. This is education, not intolerance. I want my offspring to grow up in a world free from the threats posed by pointless stupidity.
@drjrich222 Thank you so much, friend! That means a lot! I'm still in the freak out stage lol. Anyway, thought I'd chime in. Hope I can jump in a debate in the near future. I really enjoyed the last one.
This doesn't really prove God exists or not. However, it was very entertaining, What they did prove is that people die. XD
There are ways to prove that God exists but frantically you have to think about the origin of life. funny thing is there are many theories how the world was before,,,,,life?,,,,stuff?...answer that for me XD
If you all below me don't stop arguing, I am going to rain hellfire from the sky with the fury of the thousands of spartan souls trapped in this jar on my desk. Shut the fuck up and deal with the problems that are at hand in the world. Arguing whether or not god is real has no avail on issues like global hunger. Just ignore each other, or find something else to do.
They think with time a non-living thing can start to live, a non aware being can start to aware,Information (like DNA) can be formed without intellegence,

Ok so theists seem to think that atheists believe there is no god. Wrong. Atheists just lack a belief in god. Its not the opposite of belief in god, but the absence of it. For instance, all newborns are atheists, because they have never heard the concept of a god and therefore lack the belief in one. I agree that its irrational to believe absolutely that theres no god. Atheists dont hold a belief till its proven, but dont hold a disbelief either. The fact that they dont hold a belief is what ma
These "logical" arguments are all semantics. Christians have the burden of proof because they claim there is a God. Okay, what about the claim that there is no God? That doesn't require proof? It's like when one says atheism is not a faith, but a lack of faith. That just sidesteps everything. If you believe that there is no God, then you would have to search the entire universe to prove that theory. It is impossible, so people should stop saying that there is no God. Atheism < Agnosticism
It of course depends on what one claims as a 'god'.
Someone who defines it as immaterial, existing outside all dimensions, it is virtually the equivalent of saying it does not exist.
It's simply not that black and white, as well. There are several sanctions of religious (or lack) belief. Agnosticism is to say that knowledge of god, is impossible either way, however even so, one can still wager the odds of it existing.
Good then that the vast majority of atheist aren't actually claiming that the concept of a god can never be true, but at the very best say that this or that example of divinity is less likely to be true. Atheism is not only the rejection of belief, but also the lack of it.
(A)gnosticism isn't some third stance. It's about knowledge, whereas (a)theism is about belief. Most atheists are agnostic atheists: He/she was given no proof, therefore she/he lacks belief.
@ogith Right. Agnostic Atheism makes the most sense then. But from my point of view, it really doesn't make sense. To follow Christ doesn't mean to wait for proof that he is real, and then decide to commit your life to spreading the Gospel based on evidence. It starts with a little faith, and then grows. I'm not gonna try to prove it to you, but I would encourage you to give it a shot. If I am wrong, then what do I have to fear? If I am right, again, what do I have to fear?
@FourDeuce01 You're so smart. Let's say that you knew even 5% of the knowledge in the world. Do you think that God could exist in the other 95% you don't know?
YOU said that. Try to remember that. You silly christians often say things then lie later and claim other people said them. "Let's say that you knew even 5% of the knowledge in the world."
You can say that if you want. I have no idea what percentage of the "knowledge in the world" I know.
"Do you think that God could exist in the other 95% you don't know?"
Seriously, are you suggesting that there may be a god out there, but that it simply is not within the 1% of the universe we know? I thought this god of yours was supposed to be omnipresent. Moreover, the bible tells us it *was* here. So there *should* be evidence.
@XGralgrathor Again if you just take a short time to follow the protocol God Himself will show you, stay objective a few weeks is all I ask, humble yourself, stop thinking you know, admit you don't read the Gospel asking for the HOLY SPIRIT from Jesus and you will see how real He is, but pride rules you making you think you know better, fight that feeling, that feeling is a form of fear hidden in sarcasm/doubt/pride. BREAK through that, read anyways, ask anyways, HE will do it.
@JesusGaveMeNewSoul Doubt would seem the opposite of pride to me. If you doubt yourself, you then have no pride. How can you have pride if you doubt your own words and actions? If you have no doubt in your words and actions, then you must be prideful. Or enlighten me on this, please.
@TomzzHaccer I can doubt myself totally yet have total confidence in what I say about God, how? Once Jesus comes in, I mean HE REALLY enters a man, then they die to the flesh, to themselves & He lives through a man. Its like marriage but better, its Spiritual, its GOD making Himself one with a person. Why not just try out the WAY? I'm sending it to you. Not here to play games, argue, waste your time or mine, if you do this, Jesus will do something amazing within you.
@JesusGaveMeNewSoul Once you resign yourself to praying to something that isn't there you've already divorced yourself from reality. It's not a big leap form there to seeing god all around you & in everything you do. Sure, of course you're gonna "feel" something. It's the sensation of the rational brain cells running away in terror as you lobotomize yourself.
@FourDeuce01 Tell me what is wrong with that wager! The atheist cannot even account for near death experiences without pulling something out of a hat. If you actually went out and saw what people are doing in the name of Christ, you would believe. But you will never actually go, because you are afraid of being wrong. Do you think Christ said that his disciples could perform miracles, when they really can't at all? Would that make sense to anyone?
Considering the fact that jesus' face appearing in bread is considered national news, I'm quite certain any actual miracle that could be verified would be news of such a scale and calibre that we wouldn't hear anything but it for months on end, followed by the religion that produced said miracle suddenly getting a few billion more followers.
"Do you think Odin said those who fought bravely go to Valhalla, when they really don't at all? Would that make sense etcetc"
Other than the fact that it's completely stupid and has been proven wrong for more than 300 years, only an idiot would even consider it worth believing. "The atheist cannot even account for near death experiences without pulling something out of a hat."
"If you actually went out and saw what people are doing in the name of Christ, you would believe."
Wrong, stupid, and also incredibly arrogant of you to ASSume I don't see what is being done.
"you are afraid of being wrong."
Listen up, asshole. Let me explain something to you. You don't know me, and you don't know what(if anything) I am afraid of. Trying to TELL other people what they think just shows what a moron you are.
"Do you think Christ said that his disciples could perform miracles, when they really can't at all?"
No, I don't think your fairy tale said anything at all. If you believe he did, you are welcome to prove it. Of course, first you need to prove he exists. "Would that make sense to anyone?"
To foolish christians, any silly shit "makes sense".
@FourDeuce01 Commenting 5 times to my 1 comment makes responding really hard. You don't present any facts that are really worth replying to. Except I thought it was interesting that you don't want to explain NDE's. That is definitely reason enough believe in a higher power.
NDEs are well-documented and well-explored, and the mechanics of it are being revealed further and further every day. There is a chemical basis to it, and the exact effects can indeed be replicated by artificial application of said chemicals.
Even IF science didn't have an answer, the simple fact that there was an unknown phenomena would not necessarily warrant religious belief, especially not a specific one, as NDEs all vary depending on individual expectations.
@ogith Having no brain activity for 20-30 minutes after being declared dead, you still think that chemicals would even be the basis of causing NDE's? These people describe it as a place even more real than this reality. No chemical can do this. Even DMT isn't crystal clear. The person is dead! No brain activity! Are you serious? It's not just Christians reporting them. I have researched several that have happened to atheists who firmly believed there was no God for many years prior.
What culture did these atheists live in, boyo? Were these ex-hindu atheists in India who experienced seeing Jesus? Were these muslim apostates who saw your Lord? Culture and social expectations are what decides what you see, and you won't find any deeply religious muslim claiming he saw the smiling face of buddha any more than you'll find a christian in the middle of the bible belt expecting anything other than his relatives and jebus.
@ogith This isn't some drug like DMT where your past experiences or state of mind may shape your "trip". No one has died and gone to a fairy tale land with their relatives riding unicorns or something else weird like that. They either go to heaven, or they go to hell. One of the atheists lived in Georgia...if that REALLY makes a difference. If there is no afterlife, then why are these people conscious. Lack of oxygen to the brain, as the same with any chemical, cannot account for this.
"it has been pointed out that proponents have generally misrepresented the amount of time which Reynolds was flatlined[9]: the actual surgical timeline suggests that her brain stem activity was fully flatlined for a period of five to six minutes"
Maybe because people who try to use NDE as proof like to twist the facts to make it seem like the people were unresponsive for a longer time than they actually were, and utterly ignore all scientific evidence in favor of myth
@ogith Okay, you took one example from a third party source. I watched interviews and saw first hand accounts from the doctors and the people who had the near death experiences. One guy was two towns over from where I live. No facts were twisted. Why would an atheist want to twist anything in favor of Christianity?
Nothing in the Pam Reynolds case is in favor of christianity. It isn't in favor of any one religion. All she did was supposedly remain conscious "after death" and meet her relatives. No religious figures of any kind.
As I have not seen this supposed interview, I cannot agree or disagree with its veracity. However, as the _actual surgical timeline_ is stated as 5-6 minutes, I can only assume clever editing and religious bias is to blame for any and all exaggerations
"Subjects of Indian near-death experiences frequently report being taken to the after-death realm by functionaries who then discover that a mistake has been made and send the person back"
"She saw a great yogin who had come into the hell realms in order to liberate beings.
Finally Lingza Chokyi was sent back to the world, as there had been an error concerning her name and family" (buddhist woman)
NDEs seems to be all a matter of who you are and where you're from.
@ogith It is weird that the Buddhist woman said that the beings "sent" her back. That is the case with all of the ones I have researched. They always were told that it was not their time. The Bible is actually not specific on what happens right when someone dies--it mostly talks about what happens after judgement day after Christ returns. I've read about a guy who went to hell, but he was liberated when something (God) came down to retrieve him--similar to what the Indian woman said.
It matters because even if they were atheists, they grew up in a society that taught them that the most likely after-life was the christian one, and as such their unconcious expectation was most in line with those expectations.
Also, if you care about NDEs, why do you know so little about the cultural variances? Just search for Muslim/Hindu/Buddhist NDE, and you will FFS find lots of examples wherein these people having starkly different NDEs than christians.
"You don't present any facts that are really worth replying to."
I don't need to. You claimed your fairy tale is true. Either prove it or admit you can't. Either one would work for me, but I'm not holding my breath. Most christians are so scared of the truth that they can't even face their failure. "That is definitely reason enough believe in a higher power."
Yeah, if you're an idiot, but then I think you have already established that fact.
@FourDeuce01 I'm afraid? Afraid of what? Dying and going nowhere? I have seen God work through his people, but you aren't even willing to see if maybe I am right. You want to sit back and wait for me to prove it to you in writing. Don't get your hopes up in ever finding a solution to this. If I am wrong and I die, I won't care at all. If I am right and I die, then I will have something to rejoice in. Jesus loves everyone my friend, yourself included!
@FourDeuce01 The reality that there is no God? Why do you think that I am afraid of accepting that there is no God? From my point of view, you are the one who is afraid that there MIGHT be a God!
No, the reality that you don't know whether there is a god or not. Do I have to explain everything to you? Where's your Mommy? "From my point of view, you are the one who is afraid that there MIGHT be a God!"
But then you've already shown you're an idiot and a liar, so your point of view is worthless.
@simpson1177 Homer Simpson's version of Pascal's wager "Don't pray to ANY god because if you're praying to the wrong god you're just pissin' off the real one."
"Do you think Christ said that his disciples could perform miracles, when they really can't at all? "
This comment alone shows the level of naivete you are afflicted with and that you quite obviously lack any level of experience examining other religions for any potential truth that they might hold. In several regards, I would have to say that you are more of a disbeliever than the average atheist is, because most examine or at least know of dozens of religions.
You're seriously asking what's wrong with subscribing to Pascal's wager? Do you have some kind of mental deficiency?
So the fact that there are dozens of religions out there whose tenets are contradictory to yours, and who claim with just as much conviction that their claims are justified - that means nothing to you? And you would claim objectivity?
Yes, we can. NDE's are caused by chemical imbalance in the stressed/dying brain. The extraordinary experiences people relate - usually *long* after they're supposed to have had the actual experience itself - can mostly be attributed to cultural transmission and suggestion.
@simpson1177 Pascal's wager is so trivial and naiive, I'm amazed history has even bothered to attribute it. The fundamental flaw is that it assumes god is a gullible moron. It assumes the creator of the universe in all his infinite power/wisdom is a petty egotist who will admit hypocrites into heaven but not consistent, honest people. If I was god I would prefer the atheist who lived a good life because he/she WANTED TO over a hypocrite who hedged his bets for SELFISH fear of hell.
@drjrich222 Its not Pascals wager. Stop labeling or boxing people up. Do you want God revealed? Do you want to know if the Holy Spirit really comes in making a man one with God here on earth? Well just like any other relationship, it take time, but not that much time. If you just do what I tell you in the PM coming you will find GOD, not religion.
People have said that last line you made before, and people have underestimated religions impact on the daily life just like you do. Religious belief isn't just some ON-OFF switch which makes subtle or even no changes whatsoever. People base their lives around it, refuse to do/eat/act certain things/ways, and have a harder time accepting/grasping certain facts.
Honest religious belief entails a gross amount of rejection of reality, and this is something to fear.
@ogith You act as if I just shut off whenever someone argues against Christianity. I don't, I listen. Do I believe the earth is young? Not really--it doesn't even say that it is in the Bible. Science has never disproved anything that the Bible says. Rejection of reality? How so? Makes me accept pedophilia or genocide? When did Christ say ANYTHING about that being okay? I would encourage you to look at the source of the religion, rather than those who claim to follow it.
There are more religions than christianity, buddy. Wasn't a specific pike at either it or you, just at how many religions either explicitly urge its followers towards something, or the religion is implicitly used to further certain actions, an effort which becomes infinitely easier because religions all have such a structure of authority that demands that it isn't to be critiqued.
Science has disproven the bible tons of times. People just adopt new interpretations.

[16] But of those cities that shall be given thee, thou shalt suffer none at all to live: [17] But shalt kill them with the edge of the sword, to wit, the Hethite, and the Amorrhite, and the Chanaanite, the Pherezite, and the Hevite, and the Jebusite, as the Lord thy God hath commanded thee: [18] Lest they teach you to do all the abominations which they have done to their gods: and you should sin against the Lord your God.
[12] But if they will not make peace, and shall begin war against thee, thou shalt besiege it. [13] And when the Lord thy God shall deliver it into thy bands, thou shalt slay all that are therein of the male sex, with the edge of the sword, [14] Excepting women and children, cattle and other things, that are in the city. And thou shalt divide all the prey to the army, and thou shalt eat the spoils of thy enemies, which the Lord thy God shall give thee.
Apparently you don't know your own Bible, mate. Not only does the Bible give instruction on mass murder/genocide and pedophilia, it also endorses slavery.
@AntitheistPOV This point is nothing new my friend. It is used time and time again to point the finger at God, and say "oh, look here. God is unjust". Yet no one actually wants to study the word, they just want to do what you have done. Please, study the word in context, perhaps with a Bible study. I used to struggle with those topics as well, but studying the Bible more and more really gave me a better understanding. It will with you too.
"studying the Bible more and more really gave me a better understanding."
That's great. Too bad that "better understanding" doesn't enable you to prove any gods exist or to answer the questions honestly. All it seems to do is make you feel better about yourself.
Well done. You managed to completely ignore the quotes I posted, claim I don't understand English and admit you rationalize your religious text to make it palatable . . . without actually providing a single relevant reason or reference to support your argument.
Many if not all religions demand certain dress-codes, tell you that certain acts are (dis)favorable, that certain things are true and others are false, and so forth. Religious faith is what keeps millions of people around the globe impoverished because they try to live according to what it dictates. It keeps even people in the educated west ignorant of certain scientific facts. It might even tell you to accept certain acts that are repulsive (pedophilia, genocide)
I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if it turns out you come from the United States. Every atheist who refuses to self-identify as atheist seems to come from there, as the national attitude towards non-belief is so negative and atheists who are less interested in the whole discussion than others are lead to believe they should call themselves agnostic instead.
If you don't actively believe in the divine, by all definitions you are atheist. Lacking theist belief.
@GuardianxSoldier The practice of not believing in the good in life? Do you really believe yourself? You honestly believe that statement, the one I assume was subliminally shoved in to your psyche? It's simply the idea of requiring sound evidence to obtain the idea or even the consideration of possible plausibility. We all just can't run around believing something because someone with a weird hat said so. How silly is that. We must all question everything in order to obtain real knowledge.
@FourDeuce01 dude are kidding me?!? harry potter? really!!! obviously that was a fucking movie!!! you people piss me off with your bullshit even then you wont take in consideration of God, go to a christian church ask anyone why they believe in God you should get a lagitament answer! stupid punk!!!
Yeah, really. "obviously that was a fucking movie!!!"
So? The 10 Commandments was a movie too. Does that mean it's not true? Can you prove Harry Potter was NOT inspired by Harry Potter himself? If so, go ahead.
"ask anyone why they believe in God you should get a lagitament answer!"
I've been asking silly christians that question for more than 40 years. Still haven't heard a legitimate answer, stupid punk.
@FourDeuce01 IF you simply made an effort to reach out to God HE would respond, you don't try so you don't receive and say there is no God, its you who has to knock first, why don't you simply try it to prove me wrong then? Jesus is right there I pray that the HOLY SPIRIT reveals some of JESUS to you and LEADS you to Him.. you are loved.. even if you think you're not you are.
Of course I did not mean *your* address. Your question is tantamount to you asking me to ask the tooth fairy to give me a sign of her existence. For starters, I have no reason to think the tooth fairy exist. But even if I were inclined to suppose, without reason, that she did, *anything* might be interpreted as a sign. You're basically asking me to believe before you've convinced me to believe.
@MrGralgrathor I can show you tons of testimony about people dying & coming back, some seeing the waiting rooms of hospitals, kids who described the operating room & the number of surgeons while being under without anyway of knowing, who came back claiming to have met Jesus Christ There are doctor reports of these kids & people as well. Thousands of testimonies from credible witnesses, as if you care about credibility, who have witnessed. Show me that about the tooth fairy.
And in absence of any physical evidence, it would be far more parsimonious to conclude that these people experienced what they feared or desired or expected to experience. After all, everybody knows the stories about tunnels and lights at the end of it, and so on.
"kids who described the operating room & the number of surgeons"
Such testomonies have never been properly verified under controlled discussions. For example, it has never been excluded that they base these testimonies on stories they heard after the event; no study has data on testimonies *right* after the subjects woke up.
@XGralgrathor Yeah they have and many a Doctor have done massive research on NDE as well because they saw way too many things they couldn't explain. First hand testimony no good? In a court of law no evidence weighs more on a case then FIRST HAND witnesses! So now you know, stop assuming. READ IT YOURSELF asking for the right thing to completion first, then you can talk back because until then all I hear is waah waah blah blah blah.
I know the people you're referring to here, and no they have not. The papers that have been published by Pim van Lommel and people like him clearly show that all interviews have been done well *after* the effect, giving the subjects more than enough time to be influenced by all manner of factors, stories, etc, and are unreliable testimony. Until such influences can be excluded by controlling the experiment, such data is useless.
@MrGralgrathor Now you believe when you die what happens? Whatever your answer is, there is no way or proving it. I'm not here to preach down to you, nor do I believe you are hell-bound, rather, I'm here to ask you if you can be my test subject for to inherit heaven here on earth. Faith? Not necessary. Hope? Maybe just a tad bit. Persistence & slight objectivity? Yes. Play a game with me. 1 week. 1-2 hours a day. Lets see where the chips fall.
The world goes on without me. For a while at least.
"there is no way or proving it"
It's been explained to you that there's no way of being absolutely sure about *anything*. There are ways of being *reasonably* sure though. And an absolute lack of evidence is considered, by most people, to be a pretty reliable gauge of something's non-existence. Even by you.
@MrGralgrathor Ah, I see I'm speaking to a reasonable man here. The honest atheist admit as you just did that a slim chance exists. Let's build on that. Now IF God was real, how can someone who has seen no evidence who assumes there is a small chance He might exist be able to break through to the other side? Its that process I bring you friend. I have been shown things I won't tell you because I know you will call me crazy if I did. What would be the point?
There's nothing to admit. Most atheists accept that absolute certainties do not exist. Most atheists, like me, think the probability that any god exists is negligible; similar to the chances that the Earth will start doing figures-of-eight through the solar system starting tomorrow. In other words: slim enough to be able to confidently state that it won't happen.
@MrGralgrathor So I ask you again, do you think that small chance is worth a few weeks of your time to make absolutely certain? Isn't that being thorough? Listen brother, I'm not here to play tricks or mess with you, I'm here to get you to try something alone for a short while, will you consider this? I assure you that I have seen this happen to atheists, the broken and many others. My assurance is useless to you, what can I tell you to try this?
"do you think that small chance is worth a few weeks of your time"
No. No more than I think I should act on the vanishingly slim possibility that the Earth will start doing figures-of-eight through the solar system starting tomorrow.
@MrGralgrathor I'm not asking for belief before belief. I'm asking you to hypothesize that God might be real & take step requiring you to read & speak a single sentence honestly to the possible hidden God to see what transpires. Newton thought God was real, are you smarter than he? You think I believed? I thought 1 % chance. With that I did the same. what happened, well, words can't do justice to. So I ask you, are you sane enough to tell me IF what transpires is real?
I accept that that is a hypothesis. However, there is little to no evidence to support the hypothesis that a god exists. Accordingly I accord it a negligible probability. About the same probability I accord the hypotheses regarding the existence of any number of other mythological beings. I cannot go around worrying what might happen if I were to be wrong about all or any one of them, or I'd have to believe in all of them.
@MrGralgrathor Again I am not asking you to believe. Show me a single testimony from anyone claiming to have seen, communicated with or have had revealed to them any God or deity other than Jesus Christ. Show me one Hindu who has seen Krishna, one Muslim claiming to have seen Mohammad, please show me one. Now show me ten, you can't show me one from another where I can show you a 100 from Jesus Christ.
@MrGralgrathor So you are not willing to try? I was hoping you could be another "ONE." Good bye I suppose. I will send you one last PM,, please read it, please.
Correct. I don't think it's worth it to act on the slim chance that the Earth will start doing figures-of-eight throught the solar system come tomorrow; I don't think it's worth it to act on the slim chance that a huge diamon will come falling out of the air, right into my back yard, tomorrow morning; and I don't think it's worth it to act on the vanishingly slim chance that an afterlife exists.
"Please read it for the sake of the preservation of objectivity"
Typical christian hypocrite, giving people advice to do something they refuse to do. If you won't even listen to your own advice, why should anybody else?
"speak a single sentence honestly to the possible hidden God"
I'm not just being flippant here. Seriously: speak a single sentence honestly to the possible hidden tooth fairy. Do you honestly expect a response of any kind? I think not.
Those are *your* personal experiences. They may have sufficed to convince you. But your experiences do nothing to convince *me*. And until I experience something equally compelling myself, I will remain unconvinced. Finding actual, physical, independently verifiable evidence would be a *very* compelling experience for me.
Those are *your* personal experiences. They may have sufficed to convince you. But your experiences do nothing to convince *me*. "IF you simply made an effort to reach out to God HE would respond,"
Sure he would. I should just take YOUR word for that, right? IF you simply made an effort to reach out to Harry Potter HE would respond. You don't try so you don't receive.
"why don't you simply try it to prove me wrong then"
Because I don't need to prove you wrong. You need to prove you are right.
@FourDeuce01 IF hundreds & thousands of people from lots of different religions, kids that died and came back, atheists that died and came back, all said Harry Potter gives heaven if you ask reading the first Harry Potter book, then sure, try it I say! Show me one testimony from any source other than Jesus that claims they saw Buddha, Mohammad or anyone else, then I might try it! So yeah, first hand testimonials are huge, that's why witness testimony weighs most in a court of law.
"Show me one testimony from any source other than Jesus that claims they saw Buddha, Mohammad or anyone else, then I might try it!"
Apparently you haven't looked around. Plenty of other fairy tale believers make the same silly claims you christians make. "So yeah, first hand testimonials are huge,"
@FourDeuce01 Big words, show me please, find me a testimony about a believer of another religion that has seen anything other than Christ. I can show you Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus, atheists, kids, old people and many NDE's that have seen Jesus Christ.
"show me please, find me a testimony about a believer of another religion that has seen anything other than Christ."
You want ME to do your research for you? Did you find your own imaginary god or did you ask somebody else to find him for you? You didn't need my help to find your first imaginary god so I'm not going to help you find any of the others.
"I can show you Buddhists, Muslims, Hindus, atheists, kids, old people and many NDE's that have seen Jesus Christ."
I bet you can't, liar. The most you could possibly show me is people who CLAIM they saw your imaginary god. I could go to a mental hospital and show you people who say they saw aliens. Would you believe them? If not, you are a big fat liar.
@JesusGaveMeNewSoul How the fuck has someone "seen" Jesus when the numerous depictions of Jesus are just fake potraits painted by the Roman empire hundreds of years after he supposedly existed. A guy from eastern Isreal shouldn't look like a northern Eurpean Cacausian LMAO, and I'm sure there are plenty of people who have claimed to see Mohummad. Shit, there were Shamans that claimed to talk to the rain God. It's a delusion that the human mind is perfectly capable of.
@xSportsKingx esus is real, forget what you think you know. First you read the Gospel asking for the HOLY SPIRIT from HIM because you know you are prone to sin. So you hate the fact that you need sin asking for the Holy Spirit from HIM as you read, not quitting until the end, then lets see what Jesus does. If nothing then move on, but first try or else you too will see Him on judgment day, then what? Then you go down because you chose to believe a lie. I seen Him too.
@FourDeuce01 Bro don't even bother with this nut job. I just took a peak at his profile and this guy is a true lunatic. I'm ending my debate with him right now.
@JesusGaveMeNewSoul Been there done that. I went to a cathlic school and I know the bible inside and out. The gospels are nothing but embelishment, a series of fairy tales written several hundered years after Jesus supposedly existed. I'm guessing you're under age 20 by you're comments. I don't need you're silly threats of eternal damnation or you're subjective personal testimonies to witnessing Jesus. Come talk to me when you've put you're own experiences into perspective.
@JesusGaveMeNewSoul Nevermind my last comment I thought you were a little kid judging by how ridiculous your comments are but after looking at your profile I realize your a religious lunatic beyond saving. Have fun living a life of delusion.
@xSportsKingx So I take it you asked Jesus for His Spirit to come be ONE with you revealing the FATHER to you too as well as heaven? Fairy tale is you telling me where we go after we die & holding that belief until you die, ME, I read the GOSPEL asking JESUS IF you are real then please give me this Living Water/ HOLY SPIRIT, I asked reading a few weeks staying persistent as it said to and GUESS WHAT CHAP? HE is real and does it, but you think you're so smart ey? Just wait.
@xSportsKingx Again if you were to read perceiving it objectively asking for this Living Water not loving the world but seeking God to reveal Christ inside you, you would have found what 99.9999999999 percent of mankind has not and won't, until after they die they will know how easy it would have been, resist temptations for a few weeks asking+reading staying objective. Something you never tried YET boldly call me a liar for claiming. That makes you what? Smart? No. Unwise.

Hmmm.

"That just sidesteps everything."
Wrong. It's the definition of atheism.
"If you believe that there is no God, then you would have to search the entire universe to prove that theory."
Who believes that? I'm an atheist and I don't believe that.
FourDeuce01 1 day ago
@simpson1177.
SeasonsOfBlue 1 day ago
@simpson1177
Most atheists are agnostic atheists: He/she was given no proof, therefore she/he lacks belief.
ogith 1 day ago
@ogith Right. Agnostic Atheism makes the most sense then. But from my point of view, it really doesn't make sense. To follow Christ doesn't mean to wait for proof that he is real, and then decide to commit your life to spreading the Gospel based on evidence. It starts with a little faith, and then grows. I'm not gonna try to prove it to you, but I would encourage you to give it a shot. If I am wrong, then what do I have to fear? If I am right, again, what do I have to fear?
simpson1177 1 day ago

Since you've demonstrated your point of vew blinds you to what makes sense, saying something doesn't make sense to you doesn't mean much.

simpson1177 1 day ago
@simpson1177
NDEs are well-documented and well-explored, and the mechanics of it are being revealed further and further every day. There is a chemical basis to it, and the exact effects can indeed be replicated by artificial application of said chemicals.
Even IF science didn't have an answer, the simple fact that there was an unknown phenomena would not necessarily warrant religious belief, especially not a specific one, as NDEs all vary depending on individual expectations.
ogith 1 day ago
@ogith Having no brain activity for 20-30 minutes after being declared dead, you still think that chemicals would even be the basis of causing NDE's? These people describe it as a place even more real than this reality. No chemical can do this. Even DMT isn't crystal clear. The person is dead! No brain activity! Are you serious? It's not just Christians reporting them. I have researched several that have happened to atheists who firmly believed there was no God for many years prior.
simpson1177 1 day ago
@simpson1177

When and where did you get your medical training?
FourDeuce01 1 day ago
@simpson1177
Lack of oxygen to the brain.
What culture did these atheists live in, boyo? Were these ex-hindu atheists in India who experienced seeing Jesus? Were these muslim apostates who saw your Lord? Culture and social expectations are what decides what you see, and you won't find any deeply religious muslim claiming he saw the smiling face of buddha any more than you'll find a christian in the middle of the bible belt expecting anything other than his relatives and jebus.
ogith 1 day ago
@ogith This isn't some drug like DMT where your past experiences or state of mind may shape your "trip". No one has died and gone to a fairy tale land with their relatives riding unicorns or something else weird like that. They either go to heaven, or they go to hell. One of the atheists lived in Georgia...if that REALLY makes a difference. If there is no afterlife, then why are these people conscious. Lack of oxygen to the brain, as the same with any chemical, cannot account for this.
simpson1177 1 day ago
@simpson1177
"it has been pointed out that proponents have generally misrepresented the amount of time which Reynolds was flatlined[9]: the actual surgical timeline suggests that her brain stem activity was fully flatlined for a period of five to six minutes"
Maybe because people who try to use NDE as proof like to twist the facts to make it seem like the people were unresponsive for a longer time than they actually were, and utterly ignore all scientific evidence in favor of myth
ogith 1 day ago
@ogith Okay, you took one example from a third party source. I watched interviews and saw first hand accounts from the doctors and the people who had the near death experiences. One guy was two towns over from where I live. No facts were twisted. Why would an atheist want to twist anything in favor of Christianity?
simpson1177 1 day ago
@simpson1177

"She saw a great yogin who had come into the hell realms in order to liberate beings.
Finally Lingza Chokyi was sent back to the world, as there had been an error concerning her name and family" (buddhist woman)
NDEs seems to be all a matter of who you are and where you're from.
ogith 1 day ago
@ogith It is weird that the Buddhist woman said that the beings "sent" her back. That is the case with all of the ones I have researched. They always were told that it was not their time. The Bible is actually not specific on what happens right when someone dies--it mostly talks about what happens after judgement day after Christ returns. I've read about a guy who went to hell, but he was liberated when something (God) came down to retrieve him--similar to what the Indian woman said.
simpson1177 1 day ago
@simpson1177

Yes, we can. NDE's are caused by chemical imbalance in the stressed/dying brain. The extraordinary experiences people relate - usually *long* after they're supposed to have had the actual experience itself - can mostly be attributed to cultural transmission and suggestion.
XGralgrathor 17 hours ago
@simpson1177 Pascal's wager is so trivial and naiive, I'm amazed history has even bothered to attribute it. The fundamental flaw is that it assumes god is a gullible moron. It assumes the creator of the universe in all his infinite power/wisdom is a petty egotist who will admit hypocrites into heaven but not consistent, honest people.

For starters, I have no reason to think the tooth fairy exist. But even if I were inclined to suppose, without reason, that she did, *anything* might be interpreted as a sign. You're basically asking me to believe before you've convinced me to believe.
MrGralgrathor 1 day ago
@MrGralgrathor I can show you tons of testimony about people dying & coming back, some seeing the waiting rooms of hospitals, kids who described the operating room & the number of surgeons while being under without anyway of knowing, who came back claiming to have met Jesus Christ There are doctor reports of these kids & people as well. Thousands of testimonies from credible witnesses, as if you care about credibility, who have witnessed. Show me that about the tooth fairy.
JesusGaveMeNewSoul 1 day ago
@JesusGaveMeNewSoul
"tons of testimony"
And in absence of any physical evidence, it would be far more parsimonious to conclude that these people experienced what they feared or desired or expected to experience. After all, everybody knows the stories about tunnels and lights at the end of it, and so on.
XGralgrathor 1 day ago
@JesusGaveMeNewSoul
"kids who described the operating room & the number of surgeons"
Such testomonies have never been properly verified under controlled discussions. For example, it has never been excluded that they base these testimonies on stories they heard after the event; no study has data on testimonies *right* after the subjects woke up.

"Yeah they have"
I know the people you're referring to here, and no they have not.
XGralgrathor 19 hours ago
@MrGralgrathor Now you believe when you die what happens? Whatever your answer is, there is no way or proving it. I'm not here to preach down to you, nor do I believe you are hell-bound, rather, I'm here to ask you if you can be my test subject for to inherit heaven here on earth. Faith? Not necessary. Hope? Maybe just a tad bit. Persistence & slight objectivity? Yes. Play a game with me. 1 week. 1-2 hours a day. Lets see where the chips fall.
JesusGaveMeNewSoul 1 day ago
@JesusGaveMeNewSoul
"what happens?"
MrGralgrathor 1 day ago
@MrGralgrathor Ah, I see I'm speaking to a reasonable man here. The honest atheist admit as you just did that a slim chance exists. Let's build on that. Now IF God was real, how can someone who has seen no evidence who assumes there is a small chance He might exist be able to break through to the other side? Its that process I bring you friend. I have been shown things I won't tell you because I know you will call me crazy if I did. What would be the point?
JesusGaveMeNewSoul 1 day ago
@JesusGaveMeNewSoul
"admit as you just did that a slim chance exists"
There's nothing to admit. Most atheists accept that absolute certainties do not exist. Most atheists, like me, think the probability that any god exists is negligible; similar to the chances that the Earth will start doing figures-of-eight through the solar system starting tomorrow. In other words: slim enough to be able to confidently state that it won't happen.
XGralgrathor 20 hours ago
@MrGralgrathor So I ask you again, do you think that small chance is worth a few weeks of your time to make absolutely certain? Isn't that being thorough? Listen brother, I'm not here to play tricks or mess with you, I'm here to get you to try something alone for a short while, will you consider this? I assure you that I have seen this happen to atheists, the broken and many others. My assurance is useless to you, what can I tell you to try this?
JesusGaveMeNewSoul 1 day ago
@JesusGaveMeNewSoul
"do you think that small chance is worth a few weeks of your time"
No. No more than I think I should act on the vanishingly slim possibility that the Earth will start doing figures-of-eight through the solar system starting tomorrow.
XGralgrathor 20 hours ago
@MrGralgrathor I'm not asking for belief before belief. I'm asking you to hypothesize that God might be real & take step requiring you to read & speak a single sentence honestly to the possible hidden God to see what transpires. Newton thought God was real, are you smarter than he? You think I believed? I thought 1 % chance. With that I did the same. what happened, well, words can't do justice to. So I ask you, are you sane enough to tell me IF what transpires is real?
JesusGaveMeNewSoul 1 day ago
@JesusGaveMeNewSoul
"hypothesize that God might be real"
I accept that that is a hypothesis. However, there is little to no evidence to support the hypothesis that a god exists. Accordingly I accord it a negligible probability. About the same probability I accord the hypotheses regarding the existence of any number of other mythological beings. I cannot go around worrying what might happen if I were to be wrong about all or any one of them, or I'd have to believe in all of them.
MrGralgrathor 1 day ago
@MrGralgrathor Again I am not asking you to believe. Show me a single testimony from anyone claiming to have seen, communicated with or have had revealed to them any God or deity other than Jesus Christ. Show me one Hindu who has seen Krishna, one Muslim claiming to have seen Mohammad, please show me one. Now show me ten, you can't show me one from another where I can show you a 100 from Jesus Christ.

JesusGaveMeNewSoul 1 day ago
@JesusGaveMeNewSoul
"you are not willing to try?"
