  • @segafer: I have totally opposite experience. I am a foreigner in Barcelona (its been a year by now), and I am able to learn Castellano (and Catalan as well). I have no problems with speaking and using it. Barcelona and people here are very friendly. And of course, I you live in a city for a longer period of time, you will notice it pitfalls like in any one else. So far me gusta mucho Barcelona :) Name of the streets are native, but type of the streets are in Catalan, which is not a problem

  • It is a fantastic city, but where Castellano is not spoken! I'm a native Castellano speaker and I found many problems in Barcelona. Even McDonalds has the menu in Catalan, and ALL sings in the street are in Catalan. If any store put a sign on the street in castellano, they are fined by the Generalitat. It's NOT the place to learn Castellano.

  • Your video is a favorite on Canada

  • Your vid is popular on Morocco

The video is amazing, I've been studying English with EF in England and England does not have a city like Barcelona ... the climate is incredible, people are friendly, I recommend all students who want to learn Spanish to visit Barcelona.

  • @Bitbit8 No siguis tocacollons, home.

  • no Spanish (Castellano) in Barcelona you fools.. its CATALAN!

  • @estudio100rafa @estudio100rafa - Yes Catalan is the native language of Catalunya but according to Wikipedia, more people know how to speak Spanish (Castellano) than Catalan in Catalunya: 99.7% speak Spanish (Castellano) and 78% speak Catalan. Both languages are official languages in Catalunya.

If a foreigner wants to study Spanish in Spain, Barcelona is an incredible city to visit - one of the greatest cities in the world. Plus they get to learn some Catalan too! :-)

  • @EF statistics dont mean much, Catalonian people know Spanish (Castellano) this doesn't mean the prefer speaking it, my native language is Spanish (Castellano) and when I studied there I had a hard time communicating, one phrase I remember I was told when I tried to buy bread, the clerk answering to me in Catalan which I didn't understood so I asked him: ¨Español por favor¨ a bit angry he replied: ¨El Catalan es Español, lo que tu quieres es Castellano!¨ so.. thats Barcelona. Forget statistics.

  • @estudio100rafa - Yes as a Spanish person you may get that attitude, but as a foreign student people don't expect them to know catalan, so if you are a foreign student, people accept that you speak in Spanish (Castellano) and are happy to talk with you. I have been in Barcelona more than 10 times and I never had any proplem speaking Spanish (Castellano) with the locals. But thanks for the insight as a local! Matt @EF YouTube Team

  • @EF Actually I´m Mexican :)

  • @estudio100rafa - Okay! At EF we have lots of students from Mexico (but not studying in Spain of course). Have a great day! /Matt

  • @EF About your statistics.. yes, it's true. But that's because Catalonia was subject to a militar dictatorship headed by Franco who forced Catalan people to speak Spanish and banned completely the use of Catalan language. ;)

  • @Mllturro97 - yes, of course you are right about that. I only said that for foreigners Barcelona is a great city to visit, and it's possible to speak Castellano for them. Best Matt @EF YouTube Team

  • @nevaliashka5 - They speak Spanish & English, and if you go over to the school there may be some other Russian student who can help you translate. But your Spanish sounds good! :-)

Tenemos muchos rusos no hablan Inglés

Suerte! Matt @EF YouTube Team

  • @EF bueno y gracias.-))

  • @nevaliashka5 - Hola/Hello! Do you mean the address of the EF school? It's in Calle Balmes (Carrer Balmes) 155! The school has recently moved and now the school is very nice & new. Best Matt @EF YouTube Team

  • @EF Calle Balmes (Carrer Balmes) 155-phone is? because a lot of them on the map ...

  • @nevaliashka5 - hello again! Are you in Spain now? If you are interested in studying at EF Barcelona you can call any EF office to enroll. You can find all the EF offices in all countries on the main page of the @EF YouTube channel. But if you are already in Barcelona you can call teh school directly at 0932 020 208. But if you are in another country it's better to call the EF office in that country, to get help to arrange everything. Good luck! Matt @EF YouTube Team

  • @EF Hello!in January will be in Barcelona ... thanks for everything !!!

  • Shouldn't this be in Catalan since its what they mostly speak in Catalonia? They should have done Madrid for Spanish.

  • Is this heaven? from an African brother

  • @julia0911 - It's the public swimming pool in Montjuic (Montjuic mountain), it's the swimming pool from the 1992 Olympics!

  • Barcelona is Catalunya!

  • @grazziefy

    its spain .

  • Great video! but there are so many things could be more obvious or less complicated, like COCODRILO DE PLÁSTICO (plastic crocodile), that can be changed by SALVAVIDAS (life saver), and add things like ESTOY PERDIDA (I'm lost) or ¿DÓNDE ESTÁ EL BAÑO? (Where is the bathroom?). May sounds crazy but is SOOO frecuent and necesary

  • Nice.

  • Whats the song's name ?

  • @oscarmontanayt - the song is called "Live the language" !

  • I expect a lot of cute girls when I go to Barcelona now.

  • Yeah, nice video!

Well, I know some Catalan, but when I tried to speak it in Barcelona, it was a failure, because far from everyone could understand me. I think that Catalan is more typical for other places in Catalunya, especially in smaller cities and districts. Strangely, Barcelona and the near areas speak Spanish a lot more.

  • Great video! Great City! Great place to come and learn Spanish AND Catalan!

  • Well done with the videos guys, they're all beautiful. In terms of marketing they are fantastic, and you deserve every student that books a place as a result of them. One of the most alluring and charming promotions i've ever seen!

  • @Ma2quared Thank you for your lovely comments! /Chris @ EF YouTube team.

  • Barcelone est magnifique!

  • i moved to barcelona a few months ago and it's such a wonderful city.. everyone should come see it

  • Feu-ne n en català, si us plau!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The girl is gorgeous

  • Yes! I think I'm lucky for live in Barcelona! It's an amazing city!

  • this video made me fall in love with Barcelona, and im definitely going to this place any time soon!!

  • @Ri4LV you should, it's amazing!!!

  • they forgot camp nou! :D

  • Who's the woman?

  • @RuneExileRSPS - the 3 girls are real EF students who were studying at EF Barcelona when we made the film. Best Matt @EF YouTube Team

  • @EF Ahh, well, very gorgeous..

  • shes hot

  • You missed EL ESTADIO CAMP NOU XD

  • en barcelona no se habla español.

    se habla catalán.

    menuda cagada.

    está precioso, eso sí.

  • @haykverlokhaykoir - you are right, Catalan is the native language in Catalunya. But many foreign students who want to learn Castellano/Spanish still like to go to Barcelona to learn it, because most people can speak it - and because it's such a fantastic city! :-) Matt @EF YouTube Team

Quiero saber.

  • @EF it's a lot of pocket thieves though

  • great use of typography and use of type in an advert

    also great music and idea

what's the music called? it's by Magnus Lidehäll?
