  • martin scorsese = genius and a true cinema lover god bless marin :)

  • this is why i am doing a essay on him for my course studies almost finished lol

  • Gangs of New York was a dire movie...

  • Martin Scorsese is the man, the moment, the legend of film making.

  • scorsese should make more films with daniel day-lewis

  • Scorsese is the best director in the history of film

  • Bill The Butcher was amazing!

  • one should see this movie purely for Dan D Lewis he is more brilliant than usual...of course it is superbly directed by one of the living masters....

  • Daniel Day-Lewis is brilliant in virtually in every role he plays.

  • I really know all his movies and I love the new ones, I can't wait to see "Shutter Island".

  • do you know who will be in ''Shutter Island''? or what it's about?

  • decaprio ruffalo kinsley i dont know who else but it's about dicaprio being a fbi agent whose trying to find this missing mental patient

  • Scorsese is so down to earth, great guy, amazing filmmaker

  • Martin Scorsese is the BEST

    A LEGEND

    Karl

  • I LOVE MARTIN SCORSESE <3

  • why is gangs of new york ignored i mean ppl still talk about taxi driver, raging bull, citizen kane all that crap but gangs is just forgotten

  • Give it a couple of years. Gangs of New York will certainly be a beloved classic in the future.

  • gangs of new york is the best film in the world!

  • It wasn't as good, frankly. Bill the Butcher is the reason the film is worth seeing. When he's not on the screen, the film is completely average.

  • @gangstasmurf06 Well, I don't think Cameron Diaz is much of a good actress, but Di Caprio seems to be good too, it's not by chance that Scorcese has worked with him at least 4 times.

But I got to admit there is something lacking on the movie itself, specially the editing, the final touches (lots of them),

  • Yeah, he's never made a movie about how f-ed up the Italians are...

Where do you get off calling Scorcese an asshole or a dick?

    Some people have no taste...

  • Peter: I guess two pictures about the Irish counts as 'always making'. ;)

  • I'm German. My whole family is from their except me. You know how many negative portrayals there are about Germans?

  • Peter: I assume you mean in films as a whole? I can't imagine how many. But most of that I would assume relates to German soldiers in WWII. Which isn't completely false, but I understand what you mean.

Part of my family is descended from Germans and I hate the concept that Germans are innately evil.

  • Yes, in films, tv. However, in the 60s, Hogan's Heros was one of our favorite shows. My point is how people will villify a great director like Martin.

  • Peter: I just didn't/don't understand how what you were saying relates to Scorsese.

  • Look at the 1st comment below.

  • Peter: I have seen the comment, but it seems that he's complaining that Scorsese doesn't show how 'fucked up' Italians are.

Not that he's depicting the Irish in a 'negative' way.

  • Again, he doesn't show how 'fucked up' the Italians are in his movies? Guess he's never seen Raging Bull, Goodfellas, Casino. Oh well..

  • Peter: I know, that was kinda my point in my original comment.

Scorsese makes two films about the Irish, Gangs of New York and The Departed and suddenly all those Italian films are 'washed away'. To him at least. ;)

  • well there is a good reason for that being there were not very many Italians in the United

    states at that time
