I LOVE Isabel Rey!! The quality of her voice is astounding, so pure and healthy! Beautiful overtones! Its such a delight to watch her on stage. And I applaud her for her English diction, because it is not so easily done when English is not one's native tongue. Also, singing whilst suspended in the air must be a challenge in terms of the adjustments one must make to be able to support the voice! Wow, what a fun time this cast must have had with this original and creative take on the work itself.
yes : mental and cultural communism always tries to corrupt from the inside what it cannot frontally destroy. It's a kind of rital desacration, too.
This kind of production is disgusting... The problem is that, even if they have very few spectators, the politics continue to fund such antiartistic fanatics with taxpayers money.
@beginner57 : cultural communism rules in the occidental "cultural elites". In theatre and opera, most of the directors are "leftists" who follow the communist guidelines for theatrical direction as crafted by Brecht : it aims at the desecration of all the classical culture -> taking operas and change the meaning to destroy its "patriarcal, conservative value" and make it either communist in its "new" meaning, or simply ridiculous.
Your mom really enjoy the way I desecrate her english ass while mispelling all kind of slurs directed at your father, who usually sucks my balls and drink the gallons of cum I spill on your carpets.
Of course, I apologize for any further offensive mispelling on youtube. You know us, french bastards, are a bit rough on the edges, but we're not that insensitive.
That is everything else than historical informed! The Bass is singing not bad, but it is not written like that in the score by Purcell! Well Harnoncourt lost the track of the historical informed playing! If you want to see a good production of King Arthur watch the version of Hervé Niquet and Le Concert Spirituel!
Thank goodness for subtitles, I don't uderstand a word from Barbara Bonney (born 1956; retirement when?) Under-note attacks, rapid and large vibrato: Purcell telephoned me to tell me he was turning in his grave.
Thank God for the marvellous Bass-baritone, who finds a very good way of interpreting the cold (wavy lines above notes in the score).
@1401JSC If you refers to this video, she is not Barbara Bonney. Why retirement for Miss Bonney? She is singing her Mozarts, Lieder and Baroque repertory with a pure, elegant voice, amazing as ever.

Armer Bariton! Was muss man Sängern eigentlich alles zumuten?
Die schöne Arie. Das Bibbern ist von Purcell doch schon einkomponiert. Da muss man nicht die ganze Arie zerstören!

Which is obviously the case here.

@EricBarbman you write of ' rital desacration'-just what do you mean?
Has it got anything to do with the way that you ritually desecrate the English language?
MaxwellTurn 7 months ago
@MaxwellTurn
And that's not all.
Your mom really enjoy the way I desecrate her english ass while mispelling all kind of slurs directed at your father, who usually sucks my balls and drink the gallons of cum I spill on your carpets.

@EricBarbman I don't know, it would appear that as far as interacting with others goes, you haven't got a clue.
How old are you?
Life is going to get really difficult for you if and when puberty starts to kick in...

@MaxwellTurn
I'm 62, but working quite hard on it.
You thought you'd have loads of fun at spotting the spelling/typing errors of strangers but can't even take a bit of old style trolling ?
As we say here : "if your head is made out of butter, stay away from the hoven".

@EricBarbman As I stated previously, when puberty starts to kick in, life will start to get interesting for you.
You may well be the age that you state-mais dans votre tête, vous serez toujours un vilain garçon peu
Trolls?
You call yourself a troll? Don't make me laugh!

@trompetermax Not every production has to be historically accurate. The whole joy of music is being able to play around with productions.

Those "tremolos" that the cold genius does are written on the original score or is a personal interpretation of the singer?
2javivi1 2 years ago
There are various interpretations possible of the wavy lines written in the score above the s'inger's notes.
Harnoncourt has also demanded of the string players to play near the bridge of their instruments to give the impression of "cold".
JSC1401 2 years ago
Thank you to answering. There are no many performances of this aria with this "tremolos".
2javivi1 2 years ago
What a wonderful performance! : D The "penguins" are also lovely...
