I thought private gun ownership was totally banned in Australia, with some rare exceptions. Well It's nice to see that some peope over there are still shooting.
Well, if they're not totally banned, then they are, at best, extremely hard to get. A person who would want, say, a Remington 700 bolt action rifle for hunting, would have to jump through all kinds of legal hoops in an endless process just to get it. That's my understanding. Also, in the mid 90's, the Australian government launched a crusade against legal, private gun ownership. Today, gun ownership in Australia IS, for the most part, banned with some rare exceptions.
umm mate, i live in australia, so i know what we have to do to get a rifle. it isnt "endless process", it takes 2 weeks. And yet, you still say "Today, gun ownership in Australia IS, for the most part, banned with some rare exceptions", but somehow there are still tens of thousands, if not hundreds of people who own and shoot rifles. You dont know anything about the Australian Firearm system. How would i know? My dad and I own 8 rifles and live here.
Well, two weeks, by American standards, is kind of a lengthy process. Anyway, from what I understood, gun ownership in Australia was illegal. First they started with "assault weapons" and handguns, then they went on to pump action shotguns and hunting rifles that had certain capacity magazines, then they banned just about everything. That's what I have heard. I'm not claiming to be an expert on Australian gun regulations and restrictions. I guess it also depends on where you live in Australia.
Also, you have to admit that Australia has some pretty strict laws regarding ownership of weapons. You say that getting a rifle takes two weeks, but in most states you can get a gun in 15 minutes. Just fill out a few legal forms and undergo an instant computerized background check. By American standards, gun ownership in most other countries is pretty restrictive. We also have no registration or licensing except in one or two states.
Again, I'm not claiming to know everything about Australia's gun laws, but didn't Rebecca Peters, some ditzy wench from the UN, lead some kind of gun grab campaign in Australia?
well youve been told alot of bullshit then. hand guns arent banned, you just need a special lisence for them. so please stop saying all this "ban stuff", cuz alot of the weapons youve said arent banned at all.
I agree, there was no need to go as far as they did, or do anything really. It's nice to see that they still have some people with guns over there, but I notice they are all small caliber arms or shotguns. Either way, it's nice to see.
I should have been part of this family , enjoy your day . cool vid

Americans will find out about the laws as they are coming to USA this year.
and they are
1) all guns will get registered
2) you will need to pass an aptitude test
these are laws that other countries have
brought about.
but Americans are so retarded they think they will escape the laws.
Watch what Obama does this December to you.

Ok, sorry. Maybe there are bans in certain areas or something. I'm sure the laws must vary from place to place, right?
themanfromwyoming 3 years ago
