Interesting smaller airlines can poke fun at legacy airlines & make attempts at bashing their way of doing business, but when the alleged greatness of the low-cost carrier is denounced, this is blasphemy?? Truly, dont be so small minded as bash belligerently. Furthermore, what gives anyone the impression I'm European?? Are the USA and Europe the only areas inhabited in this world?? I'm afraid I don't understand the low cost carrier hype... You get smaller planes, less than knowledgeable staff and at the end of the day... You can't even fly across the ocean!! I guess if your only sights are for domestic travel and you never want to know anything about the rest of the world, these tiny guys are for you ... but then again... there's a reason the rest of the world pokes at the United States so much....

1 Who cares about the size of the plane?

2 How is the staff less knowledgeable? If there is an emergency on a plane they are trained to save your life.

3 Fly across the ocean...really? If you want to fly across the ocean choose another airline, southwest was founded to get you to point a to b as quick as possible and to save you money.

4 Yes, my sights are for domestic travel because my family lives in this country.

5 Sorry that the US isn't perfect, try to find nation that is.

Let me tell you this... guys, I´m working for an Airline and one way or other they charge you....you are gonna pay the same...compare the full price, plus taxes, quality of service, delays, compensations in case of delays and delayed bags too... etc...just take a look....

I've flown LOTS of different air lines and main difference is that SW doesn't have assigned seat (Not a big deal to me), their prices are ALWAYS cheaper, their employees are friendly and courtesy and seem to really enjoy their job. Can't say the same for most other airlines I've flown. In fact some of the people are down right rude. As for the compensations... I've gotten several free flights for offering to take next flight out. Sometimes only 15 minutes later. I call that GREAT customer serv.

@JillinTx i have a friends that have flown southwest...1 guy had his ticket taken away at the security check point (the security guard lost it/didn't hand it back)

he had to pay $420 to get his ticket to be reprinted...great customer service by SouthWest

Just saw it on the news, American Airlines is raising it's bag check-in price from 20 to 25 dollars, and the second bag from 30 to 35 dollars. Wow, American Airlines sure hates bags, hahaha.

Yes, you are correct. i never heard that airline charge passengers to carry bag, not even mainland China.

For me, if US airline charge me in this way, I would rather travel by train. at least i can sleep on a "full bed".

True, no one charges to carry on, but on Southwest you can "check" bags for free, that means bags that go under the plane that are too big to carry on fly free, no other airline does this but Jetblue

Nope, they just write the cost into the airfiare. So you pay regardless of what or how many bags you bring. Would rather pay a lower fair and use a carry-on.

False. Southwest has the lowest flying rates of all airlines. Not only that but they are one of the only airlines to pull in a profit every single year they have been in business. They are flight for those that do not have a lot of money. Before Southwest was around only 15% of America had flown. Now over 85% of America has. They do not write the cost of bags into the airfare. They are genuinely cheaper.

Uh, no It is true. I fly to the same place 3 or 4 times a year and i have not flown SW in the past 3 years because they have been consistently higher than any other airline. I continually get better deals with Delta, NW, American, or US air.

Because Southwest's boarding procedure sucks. Family of four traveling with connecting flights, the plane was held up for unknown reason, everyone had to sit in a different place on the plane. Never again.
