you must have spent a fortune on fake corals... now next step is to sell those and buy real frags.. just buy one at a time to make sure that your lights and calcium levels are ok before you buy more... welcome to the hobby! You have jumped into the deep end if you've never kept fish before though..;-) Usually goes Tanganyika Cichlids and then Salt water... this way you have a solid foundation to stand on. Still loads of fun and very rewarding hobby so best of luck!
not a fan of fake coral personally but you made it look good. I would reccomend some live rock for natural forage and the benifit of nitrifying bacteria
How did u have no algae from your fish only tank dude nice tank? I have algae problems and I need help do u clean the inside of the skimmer once a week and what kind of skimmer u are using too and equipment?
looks great........ im only 14 i got my first tank on christmas..... ive been around tanks my whole life. We finaly started doing salt water. i have reel reef rock and some fake corals. i just got and anomone. i dont mind fake corals it can look cool if you do it right......nice tank!!!!!!!!
I'm not fond of fake corals, but you sure pulled it off. Very nice! I'd ditch the domino damsel... it'll be nothin but trouble in the long run... damsels are bad news... and they are the worst!
I have a three striped damsel, blue-yellow tailed damsels, and a blue damsel. :) When can I start to add clownfish, butterflys, triggers, etc. Could you recommend a good fish after the damsels establish the nitrogen cycle? I also want to add inverts, such as, 1 shrimp, 2-5 large hermit crabs,1-2 bubble anemone(for the clownfish, they luv it supposedly). Could I add these inverts 3-4 weeks after starting the tank. Thanks a lot, I just don't want anything to go wrong with my tank.
damsels get pretty aggressive so u might have to get rid of those in the future.. triggerfish and butterflies are hard to feed, the friggers would probably eat your hermits n shrimp. I would wait longer than a month to add an anemone theyre very delicate.. good starter fish are clownfish, scooter blennys, gobies but it all depends on ur water quality so make sure your ammonia and nitrites are at 0.
Thanks alot. Ur awesome! I love gobies the mandarian are really cool. Could I add a mandarian right when my ammonia and nitrite are at 0? Thanks, ur very helpful
Once my water quality is stable, 0 ammonia and 0 nitrites, can I add all my fish at once? I have 2 green chromis as of now, and I'm thinking of adding a blenny, goby, 2 clownfish, 2 firefish, long horned cowfish, and 2 cleaner shrimp. I also have a 36 gallon bowfront like u if you remember. Thanks.
your tank is so beautiful. i was looking into starting one myself. and what i have learned so far is that the tank you have takes a lot of work to keep up on. i hope you have done your research.
thank you and yes they require a lot of money but more importantly TIME n patience.. the tank has been running for about 4months now and ive encountered problems with ich and ph imbalances but have gotten through them.. the starfish didnt survive, it died after like 3days.. im not ready for invertabrates yet.. good luck with your tank!
Wait I don't understand, y rn't you ready for inverts? I just started my tank and it's a 36gallon bowfront fis only saltwater tank...what a coincidence lol I luv the bowfront design how it magnifies everything, really neat. Neways, my tank has been running for 5 days and I've noticed the fish are losing some color. I'm feeding them a good amount of food, the saltinity is 1.020, I have lava and tufa rock, regular gravel for substrate, and the temp is at 78. What do you think is wrong? or am I ok
by inverts i meant coral because i dont have powerful light fixtures. Since i posted the video ive added cleaner and peppermint shrimp, snails, and a couple of hermit crabs and theyre all doin ok.. you should probably raise the salinity to 1.022-1.023.. but i dont think this would cause the discoloration, sum lights bring out different colors in fish.. and also check pH because it might cause the change and even lead to ick.. Good luck!
I just have regular gravel. Would I need purchase live sand or could I get away without? I heard it's pretty important for hermits, shrimp, and many others. Thanks
i dont think its necessary, as long as u have one or the other.. i dont have either but theyre doing fine.. i just have coral sand.. crabs will eat anything. u shud put sand cuz animals like to sift thru it and sum even burrow in it.
Hey r, quit fucken hating, if you have nothing nice to say keep your ***** mouth shut bro

ur welcome.. i guess u cud but just be patient, add one fish at a time.. im a beginner too so im still learning..

For mandarins you need a rather large well developed tank with lots of growth. They can't survive off of fish food.

Do you own any live rock because from what I see it doesn't look like it? Would I need to purchase LR because I only have tufa and lava rock?
TheOneAndOnlyProdigy 3 years ago
i dont own any LR but in the future i want to switch over, if i get a bigger tank.. i would get sum LR cuz it helps reduce nitrate..
