Not sure how the whole Pearl Jam vs Oasis debate began, but comparing Oasis to PJ is like comparing a Kia Rio to a Ferrari. Sure, some people like Kia, but come on. The only reason anyone knows Oasis is because meaningless pop rock BS is what radio stations and MTV prefer to promote to the empty headed masses. Pearl Jam on the other hand made it without any help from the media because of the power, meaning and passion behind their music, rather than singing nonsense like Wonderwall, wtf is that?

I never thought the day would come when Oasis would come to head-to-head with Pearl Jam. I've seen plenty of Oasis vs Stone Roses, Blur, Kasabian and Arctic Monkeys debates; but never an Oasis/PJ Debate. Their music doesnt compare. Gun to my head, id say Pearl Jam are the better band and I mean that in every sense of the word: Pearl Jam as a unit are more versatile and experimental . Oasis though were a very important band and made classics - Slide Away. Ateotd such an argument is irresolvible.
@GasPanic08 Please. Oasis is catchy pop, nothing more. Insignificant lyrics, unimportant, if agreeable, music. Pearl Jam make powerful songs-music and lyrics. Can't possibly seriously compare the two.
I think you missed the thesis of my argument: Pearl Jam and Oasis can't be compared. It's foolish to compare the two. Your reply basically reiterated what I'd previously stated, but with your opinion on Oasis. I think everyone should comparing the two.

Some women out there have some pretty high material expectations about what kind of man they would marrry. Before I got divorced I used to think of that Linda Ronstadt song SOMEONE TO LAY DOWN BESIDE me. Maybe that is what you get in life someone to lay down beside you.
@brodieboy87 I went to the Manchester gig. Mint or what? Just a pity they didn't play betterman there. Black was the crown jewel of that show, i reckon. When I looked at the london setlist from the following night, i was momentarily tempted to think I would have rather been there. BUT HEY... I've seen PJ live!!!
Absolutely loved my first show in Manchester. That my friend is a real show. Only downside was had to wait a while for official bootleg to be released!
Trust me the crowd was wild I was there. As goofy4ever07 said the crowd was just not miced what you heard was through his mic. The place was a mad house. 3 encores I would say that is a good indication !!!!!
They did not mic up the croud, they just focused up on the instrument and the vocals. Its just how they recorded the show. Trust me, im sure every PJ crowd is nuts.
Hey, AT one point eddy was nearly in tears about how this was probably one of the best receptions the band had ever had, they ended out playing 3 encores beacuse of the crowd, trust me, it was amazing!
@Oneilius I was in that crowd, we all sang the words at the beginning. It was bloody great and definitely loud and appreciative. It just hasn't come out on the recording.
I love Pearl Jam live concerts cause even though they play their songs in a very similar way every concert (of course you can't completely change a song from show to show), it's always in a certain different way. Some details, the emotion, the faces, are always different.
This time, the drums were faster, but so what? Who cares?
i have loved this band since it started... admire each member collectively and as individuals... eddie certainly was born to do this and does it very well!!
I just saw Pearl Jam for the first time this month, and I was completely enraptured by the music. I've always been a fairly big fan, but to see them live, I now have a bigger appreciation and love for them. Who cares how different they played the music from what was on the CD, that's what a live performance is all about--experiencing the music and the artist.
Questioning the ability of matt cameron? Ha ha some people are just pretty god damn stupid... When you make your own music as good as this you'll agree that playing your own songs whatever way you feel like live is up to you, its not up to some ignorant fan who thinks he knows more than the musicians who have been doin this for there whole lives... Real fans dont criticise the members of the band... No respect man...
From another drummer..... Its just fact, when they play with Matt Cameron, they play faster. Don't know if it is Matt playinbg too fast and pushing, or if they as a band decided to start playing their tunes quicker. But if you get all those live CD's they released a few years back, everything is quicker. Even Flow is off the charts!
too fast?!?....its called feeling , vibe, riding the snake, playing from the heart!!!!...music teachers cant teach that....its in you...i was there and beleve me its was just fine.....admittedly i didnt have my metronome a copy of the original and my text book and pen with me to take notes but dont worry it was awesome.....tell your music teacher to stick it mate.........PLAY FROM YOR HEART!

I didnt mean anything bad by this....i just am not a fan of his guitar tone, i think hes one of the Greatest musicians of all time. and Pearl Jam is my favorite band so i mean...calm yourselves
I agree, his guitar tone is really not all that great. Rearviewmirror shows this as much as this does, I wish Stone or Mike would set up his amp for him :P.
and yet they all seem to wear those bloody ramones t shirts. lol
well to be fair when a band doesn't tour a country for 15 years and just decides to take a back seat and not really chose to be in the limelight then you can't blame people for not knowing of them that much.
some prefer it that way too, look what happened to nirvana and kurt being virtually cannonised by the media and fans. lol
you can't blame pearl jam for not wanting any part of that and shying away from it.
nothings wrong with the ramones, i was refering to people who wear thhose t shirts sold in virgin and HMV and know nothing of the band itself it's just seen as a fashion statement and not a musical one.
ok, i agree. although something tells me that Eddie is a true fan. he doesn't do many things to fit in with the mainstream crowd. (that's why i think if Cobain was still alive, those two would've been best of friends over time.)
i dont think you are so good in your knowlAGe either heh. im not criticising english music or english people, i live in england. people in my age group just have very narrow musical tastes.
