@kenmasters007 Expert? No. I do know that science backs me up on this though. Genetics may be a contributing issue, but...
most shoes don't let the arch move as it should, which weakens it. Going barefoot is correlated with less chance of flat feet and unless you have a very severe case of flat feet, going barefoot will most likely help.
Arch support may help temporarily, but in the long run, it only does harm. (except with very severe cases, as I mentioned)
A lot of the stuff I've read, convincing me to go barefoot whenever I can (it's gotten too cold now, so I use minimalist footwear), has been from sites dedicated to barefoot/minimalist running.
Of course what truly convinced me, was that:
There are 0 studies showing that shoes aren't bad.
There are 0 studies showing that shoes are good in any way.
@youknowhoo I could mention tons of scenarios involving your head being smashed, because you don't wear a helmet ...pretty much all of them being far, far, more likely.
...and helmets don't disfigure your head, nor make any of your muscles atrophy, fuck up your posture, put excessive strain on certain body parts or any of the other negative consequences of shoes.
So...
Why aren't you wearing safety gloves and a helmet, all the time?
@youknowhoo ...and either way, that's completely irrelevant to most people, so it's not really relevant to the discussion. (which is not to say that I'd not like a reply. I'm a curious guy, and a person who wears gloves and a helmet all the time, is certainly a curiosity)
@ZarlanTheGreen I was joking. I don't wear a helmet and gloves everywhere I go. I was giving you a hard time about not wearing shoes. To each his own, man.
@SupaAmi Thanks for the comment! Glad you liked this clip from Robert. Check out RooftopComedy's channel for more of Robert Hawkins' comedy and let us know what you think!
I personally hate it when women wear open-toed shoes that are about a size too small... and their toes claw the edge of the shoe. It's rather reminiscent of shrimp cocktail. It's gross ladies!!
@kay2one Well for some reasons, a lot of women think that shoes that are way too small, crush their toes together, and fuck up their posture, are really fashionable and sexy.
...never mind what it does to their feet (most notably their toes) ...and their legs, knees, back...
man this guy is so freakin funny

"God did that"
No.
Almost all foot problems are due to bad shoes.
Bunions, corns, deformed toes, flat feet... you name it. Shoes probably did it.

@ZarlanTheGreen Are you a foot expert ? i thought my flat feet was due to genetics.

@ZarlanTheGreen barefoot running?

@ieatnuggetswithafork No, I'm not really a runner.

@ZarlanTheGreen If you step on a heroin addict's discarded needle and you don't have shoes on you might be in trouble. Shoes - 1. Barefoot - 0.

@ZarlanTheGreen Who said I wasn't?
youknowhoo 1 year ago
@youknowhoo I simply assumed that you didn't, since the vast majority of people don't.
...and those who do, do so because of a psychological problem.
That or they live in a very, very, hazardous place, not fit for human habitation.
Both cases are very rare, so I think I was rather reasonable, in assuming that they weren't the case, until proven otherwise.
So you're saying that you DO wear safety gloves and a helmet, all the time?
If so: Which of the above mentioned reasons is true of you?
