also i =under stand why Yao and shun are not on the list but the Yellow emporor theres over 500000 people in china who calim decent from him and as tthe forefather of the Huxia people
@RSNCICREO, as I said at the start, the number of people who could've ended up here is too high to count. You'll have your choices and I'll have mine. Also don't forget one of my key conditions: if there's too much doubt about a person's existence, he/she was kept off.
After studying Chinese, Japanese, and Korean language (in which it involved some cultural studies too), I felt Confucianism is basically East Asian culture. I wasn't surprised to see Confucius at the #1 spot.
In terms of greatest, I can't believe you would rather put in some irrelevant inventors and didnt put in Dr. Sun Yet Sen - founding father of modern China, that pushed over 5000 year old imperial system and helped established China into the new world, well, wasn't all an individual's credit but at least he was the leader of the pact that did so....
@bigfatdick5000, did you read the FAQ I have in the video description? Modern Chinese were left out because, in terms of Chinese history, it's WAY too soon to tell what their full impact is. China's history is measured in millenniums, not centuries. One century is not enough time to reflect on their true legacy.
THE MUSIC DOESNT MATCH THE LOW QUALITY BACKGROUND, KENNY G JAZZ MUSIC TO GO WITH 10 GREATEST CHINESE IN 5000 YEARS OF HISTORY, WHY DON'T YOU USE SOMETHING PURELY EASTERN AND WITH EPIC PROPORTION AND WHY THE HELL SUCH LOW QUALITY PRODUCTION.
@bigfatdick5000, you know, instead of wasting time criticizing me in caps, you could spend that time making your own video the way you want it made. As for why I used Kenny G? It's the best version of Jasmine Flowers that I could find online at the time. All the others were video recordings with poor sound quality.
Ok, the part about not using modern Chinese historical figures is justified, if their impacts are too soon to be validated. But still not the Kenny G part, it's too corny, put "Kitaro - heaven and earth" or something like that. I criticized in caps because your low quality production reinforced some sort of *stereotypes* about Chinese, if you know what I mean. but then i don't blame you, maybe we are diff types of Chinese to begin with...
@bigfatdick5000, I was set on Jasmine Flowers as the song of choice for this video right from the beginning and would not stray from it. As I've told you already, if you're dissatisfied, make your own video. You're never going to convince anyone else to share the exact same preference for music as you do.
@MrRetardedScientist, I said it at the start: you could name a thousand people and I'd agree with them all, but when the list is limited to only ten, there's no way I could include everyone.
@MrRetardedScientist, it's not a list of "who's the most famous." It's a list of "who's the greatest." Qin Shihuang is WAY more famous (at least outside China) than Tang Taizong, but Tang Taizong is ranked higher because he's the model of leadership that most Chinese expect their leaders to strive for.
@MrRetardedScientist, you know, I respected you up to this point. Now you just lost my respect, and if you can't figure out why, then I've lost all faith in you too.
@ZhangtheGreat Thank you so much for this video, it just shows people, how influential China really was and is. BTW, you should also make a modern day one, i'd love to watch it :)
@SaveChinaTiger, there's considerable debate about the actual identity of Lao Zi. Was he really one man, or was he a group of individuals who formed a collective identity? Because of this doubt, I left him...them...off.
Mencius was considered but dropped during my narrowing.
I thought about Sun Tzu, but then I remembered that scholars still can't say for sure if he was really one person or a group of people who took an alias, so whoever he was, that left him off.
As I said at the beginning of the video, you could list a thousand names and I'd agree with them all, but when the list is limited to only ten, there's just no room.
It's too soon to tell what kind of legacy any modern Chinese are going to leave on the country. Since Chinese history stretches five millenniums, decades are not enough to accurately judge a person's full impact.
very great story and musics
