  • How long do the batteries last in these.

  • Stop waving the damn watch around!!!!!!!!

  • Seriously, hold the watch steady or put it down.

  • why is it you always get two assholes slagging eachother off which has nothing to do with the video.go on twitter if you want to do that and leave youtube alone

  • it's a rugged never say die watch, which is what i love about it. you can fry it freeze it submerge it vacuum it and the damn thing will just keep ticking. for it's price range i cant think of anything better

  • It is an awesome time piece ,,but I have had problems with mine in the past,,, Once I knocked the bezel off,, then sent it to Omega service and they had it for 6months waiting for the part. Also the buttons sometimes stick and after a while they unjam,,, Its a good watch and I love the appearance but its not without flaw

  • Incorrect...a automatic movement WILL wind in space!

  • that isnt the first watch been to the moon. Not the exact one.

  • great vid, great watch, i enjoyed it!

    cheers, dom

  • A really classic watch that is now full of scratches.

Actually automatic watches can work in zero gravity.

Various Shuttle astranauts have worn Casio G Shock digital watches and they work well in outerspace.

  • Hi, friend, you know if this watch is model 1969?. so. I have one and have a little changes. Thanks.

  • are these water proof?

  • @sillydillydokieo 50m water proof

  • Could you please move it a little bit more often and faster during the review?

  • @tachelesreden this is why I made a new review of the watch. Check my channel.

  • @tachelesreden lol

  • @tachelesreden LOL! Priceless comment!

  • Thats wrong information; An automatic watch will work in space. NASA were not very bright to believe it wouldn't lol. An automatic movement is not powered by gravity, it is powered by inertia, motion, movement...

  • When this watch was made, automatic chronographs were not in production. While this video is incorrect with respect to an "automatic watch not working in space", the reason why NASA chose a watch requiring winding was nothing more than expediency. Automatic watches of the accuracy required to time burns, etc. were not available at the time.

  • wasn't available when they were testing watches for space.

  • This is correct

  • absolutely right !! during the test of 10 watches by NASA they had 3 automatics (Rolex, Breitling, IWC) the Omega was the only watch that ticked on after the tests although 10 minutes slow..

  • @XysteRST205 It had also not been invented at that point

  • jeeze michael j fox get this man a scotch n soda

  • It costs $5,000 in Japan.

    You got a good item.

  • Yeah, stop shaking noob!

  • gold bracelet and black dial is quite a shitty combination mate

  • I can't find a dealer in Bulgaria.

Anyone knows what's the price of the gold with gold bracelet and black dial?

  • List price in the UK for that one is £11,460. It's also pretty much the worst looking one, unless you want to come off as a lottery winner from Essex.

  • I was talking about the gold one looking tacky, I have the one in the video...well the co-ax.

  • stop shaking, idiot

  • Thats Probably The Omega I`d Get

  • your wrong about the movement its not because the automatic movement didnt work in space it is actually because the automatic movement did not exist or was available at the time of the apollo missions

  • actually the automatic movements became available in 1969 the apollo missions were at about 1960 so the watch was already selected.

  • @AJHcorolla

In early 1959-60 NASA officials went to a Houston jewellers and purchased several quality chronograph watches the Speedmaster being one of them.

The Rolex that was chosen was an automatic Oyster model but after the very stringient tests all the watches underwent only the Omega Speedmaster passed with flying colours.

It was thought back in the 1960s that an automatic watch like the Rolex wouldnot function in Zero gravity in Space but automatics have been worn since and worked

  • i have two seamasters and a moon watch and a 68 submariner ,i think the rolex is slightly more robust but i love them all , def more history and class than tag breitling etc

  • how much does it cost

  • Mine was $2850 (£1734). Worth every penny.

  • This watch shouldn't cost more than $400 or so.

It has a great history, and it seems that's what drives people to purchase, but at $2,500 or so retail, Omega is probably making about $2,300 profit.

  • @BoogieWithStew

You will be very lucky to buy even a working version of the Speedmaster for this kind of money.

Around $1000 will get you a nice used example and $4500 a mint unworn new example.

There are many different versions of the Speedmaster and the Limited Edition models always command a high price due to their rarity.

  • The difference between an Omega and a Rolex is that Rolex has been mostly hand built. However, each of my Omega's have been rebuilt by a master watchmaker. Thus, it has been hand built and is designed better than a Rolex. The Rolex is a fine watch. However, the Omega has the edge. I had mine rebuilt by Les Ballantyne from Ballantyne Jewelers in Northam Western Australia.

  • actually both are hand built. omega is also older than rolex

  • Incorrect. Rolexes are built by machine, as are most Omegas.

Only the very high end models in each line are built by hand... we're talking over $10k here.

  • You are both wrong, Rolex is hand made, their cheaper watch Tudor are machine built. The poor mans Omega is the Tissot. However, I will ask my brother to confirm exactly what the story is.

  • Nice job! I bought one today.

  • rich bastard

  • You people need to chill out, can't you tell by the voice? It's Michael J Fox! He can't help himself... so stop being jerks about it, you'll make him feel bad. :(

  • ya man, the hand movement was a bit intense.

  • is not about hand shacking haha, is heart broken and jealousy

  • Rated a 1 because you can't keep your fucking hands still!

  • Dude, you really need to remove this video and do it again without jittering your damn hands so much. Great watch but alas I will look for other vids that show the watch better

  • i have a wind up watch too, it's great winding it up, it reminds me of the first time my dad gave it to me and i couldn't get it to work.

i love watches im quite the collecter mostly inexepensive watches that are really good quality for the money.

  • Jesus Christ, do the meth AFTER making the video.

  • yeah, a bit jittery, lol

  • meth? caffeine? maybe a combo of both. i couldn't watch this for me than 30 seconds...seriously.

  • This watch does not in fact have a ceramic bezel.

  • ppl who cant drive usually have good cars.

  • You fucking shut it you cunt

  • @fatboybozo Only a few limited edition among other Omega watches have ceramic bezels . Know your facts before you troll.

  • NASA chose a manual wind watch they wanted a chronograph and auto chronographs would not be perfected until 69. In addition NASA had the mistaken belief gravity needed to be present in order to cause the Rotor to work.

Objects at rest tend to stay at rest unless acted upon by a force. When the watch is moved, the rotor wants to stay put. Since its center of mass (somewhere in the middle of the rotor plate) is not its center of effort (the rotor shaft), it spins. Along the way, it winds the watch

  • Autos WILL work in space/ zero G ;-)

  • Comment removed

  • yeah seriously. Stop playing with it. Lay it on the table so we can actually look at it.

  • Jeezus would you keep your hands still!!

  • seamasters are nice too!

  • They certainly are! But I still think the Speedmaster is teh greatest Omega ever.

  • Crazy!!!! Dissection omega watch!please see my video!it is really crazy!!

  • Oops. OF course I didn't read the book before winding mine when it arrived today. I wound it a few times like an ordinary watch, in both directions, forward and back.

Did I do any damage to the movement? IT's running fine.

    Hope I got lucky.

Thanks again. It's an awesome watch by the way.

  • I don't know if turning the crown in the wrong direction does anything, but you probably didn't do any damage. Just dont' turn the crown in the wrong direction when setting the time! Remember, you can only move the time forwards.

As a side note, I'm pretty sure that 99% of watches only wind in one direction, so there's no point in turning the crown both ways.

  • Good job, thank you. I bought my first Speedmaster Moon today and I'm unclear about one thing from the instruction manual.

IT says to wind the watch: "turn the crown forwards until it stops".

What do they mean by "Forward"; is that clockwise or counter clockwise?

Seems it would have been smarter to use the term clockwise or counter clockwise than "forward".

Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer this with certainty.

  • Turn the crown clockwise, towards 12 o'clock. You'll hear it winding and feel it when it's fully wound. Once it doesn't want to turn anymore, don't force it.

And thanks for all the comment's below!

  • Don't worry you won't overwind it, turn it towards 12 with confidence you'll feel it when it stops completely and you won't be able to turn it anymore. Cal. 186 is pretty sturdy so no worries

  • Cal. 1861 I meant

  • Yes, for the future please leave the watch still until you need to explain a feature otherwise way too much movement.

    These are beautiful watches.

Automatics do work in space since they work on inertia not gravity. Also, swiss autos can be hand wound.

  • actually automatic watches still manually wind......so they would work in space. fyi.

  • i cant afford this type of watch i just wear ordinary rotary. but this is my dream watch and good info about not pulling the hair thing cos that is so annoying with most ordinary watches

  • I like my speedy pro but the clasp is a bit weak.

  • Good review, but man, what a hyper person. He couldn't keep still long enough so we could actually see the watch. He was always moving the watch and couldn't sit still for more than 1 second.

  • Does anyone know if there is an Omega Moon Watch that is hand wound and self-winding? I just purchased one, and was given a winder with it. I have tried to wind the watch with the winder on all three settings on the winder

  • it depends, there's an automatic version, slightly smaller in diameter and a full size version with automatic movement but if it is truly the moonwatch Ref. 3570.50.00 it has a manual winding movement hence the winder is useless

  • oooops, this is the other speedmaster pro... my bad... its meant to have that back.

  • can u plz provide a photo so i can understand what u mean?

  • One variety of Speedmaster does have a display back, but the 'Moon watch' proper has a steel back.

  • Yes, the saphire crystal version usually has the saphire display back. All others have the metal back.

  • I love the watch but you sure are manhandling it! Let it be still!

  • Good Review.

  • stop moving the f'ing watch so much

  • I'll be honest. This is a nice watch that way too thick in my opinion..

  • Beautiful Speedy Pro, I just picked up a 50th anniversary Speedy Pro the "Patch" version and I love it. Great review.

  • Sorry - not correct. In 1970, Omega used the handwinding Caliber 861 movement in Speedmasters. If you've got an automatic Speedy, that's NOT what went to the moon. You are correct, however about automatic winding mechanisms working in zero-g, though.

  • The original moon watch was hand wound simply because a chronograph automatic wasn't made yet.

You are right that an automatic would work in space. Due to inertia.

  • My dad has one, he bought one in the late 60's in San Diego. I thought it was a fake till I brought it to BenBridge... its real,

  • Perfect review!

Perfect watch! A piece of history!

There are two versions available, the one reviewed and a saphire crystal version that also have a saphirecrystal back where you can see the decorated movement.

And some limited editions 50th anniversary.
