Left wing Jewish liberal here. I couldn't agree more with both of you guys AND the Huffpost article, although I would beg to differ that the Left doesn't bitch and moan about human rights in the countries that you've mentioned. I think they do. I think that Israel is slightly more of a lightning rod because of the closeness between our countries. MY issue is with right wing conservative Jews who label me as antisemitic if I EVER criticize Israeli policies or imperfections. That should stop.

The Huffington Post cementers are consistently venomously anti Israel and anti Jewish in general.

What about the environment, a big Liberal Cause. Israel is the only country in the World to have more trees in the year 2000, than it did in the year 1900. Israel is the world's leader in recycling water, and in water conservation; no other country comes close. Israel leads the world in developing and promoting green energy, such as solar power.

If you are Pro -Environment you MUST be Pro - Israel

In Islam, women are treated as possessions, reproductive machines, and retarded children that cannot be trusted to make decisions about their own lives.

I am a leftist who supports Israel and almost every liberal I know supports Israel. I have no idea where people get the idea that the left is no longer supportive of Israel.The article is very good, it gives a fairly concise explanation of why supporting Israel is a liberal cause.
