  • gorgeous.if someone doesnt like it dont dignify their idiocy by commenting.

  • Piano part seems harder than the violin part XD.

  • She loves to play forte the whole time.Because a real soloist has to have a BIG BIG sound. Yeah!!

  • the violin play perfect...but the piano ist too loud and shows no emotion :(

  • Superb playing, impeccable timing at last!

Alas that the lid of the double grand was open - the stage manager should have caught that! Even the pianist sitting at the keyboard doesn't hear how loud that piano is, reflecting off the open lid like that. But the stellar performance shines through.

  • She has such amazing control - her playing and general presence reminds me a lot of Szeryng's, altho I think he was from a different school of violin playing.

  • WAUW!!!!!

    Fantastic

  • The violinist is fantastic and so is the pianist, they build up together real and pure music!!!

  • man that pianist is a beast!

  • And he is one of the best recital accompanists out there - Georges Pludermacher was accompanying Milstein when he was only like 22-24 years old.

  • Something like a sob at 3:04

  • Ms. Marcovici's tone is absolutely superb, so rich & full bodied. I have the 78rpm set w/Thibaud, w/Cortot @ the piano - Very reminiscent of Romantic Era playing.

Cesar Franck was a rather humble, non-confrontational un-assuming man, w/a shrew of a wife. His musicial outpour is so rich in emotional verve, passion w/a visceral content & sound; some times erotic. One would think he was voicing his passion thru his music. Excellent performance from Ms. Marcovici. What a shining star!

  • @78timothy very perceptive comment about Franck. He did seem to channel his passions through his music. His wife caught on with the Quintet--its really a musical love letter to his student Augusta Holmes (American pianist) in disguise. His wife despised the work.

  • She is still very beautiful. I sow her many years ago in Romania, was a splendid young woman.

  • yeah i agree the piano is too loud during some parts. she probably didn't want to motion him to be quieter because she didn't want to lose her cool image or something. whatever the reason, you can't hear her at all in certain spots.

  • Thank you YOUTUBE for existing !

  • i can't even hear what the violin player is playing...

  • oh you've played this? did you record it because you seem to have an interesting interpretation of this piece? i have a recording myself i can also upload. i'd like to see if you actually play well enough to know what you're talking about... but what i meant is that at the beginning the violin entrance is more a nice timbre in the background (perhaps an artistic choice?) rather than a clear, resonant solo. all other youtube recordings have quieter pianos as well & i prefer that interpretation.

  • what? i didnt call anyone ass.

i just think the piano is much to loud. sometimes it hard to hear the violin player do you not hear this? who can enjoy it when you cannot hear the violin player even? no one. is this how you play the piece?... well she is very good but hard to hear.

  • you see no evidence? what a deaf idiot.

  • no, there is no evidence at all. the piano is fully opened, and the violinist made no sign of discomfort nor did she try to communicate with the pianist to turn down the vollume.

  • dude, ssdiothor, shut the fuck up, ok? you're wRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG. no one agrees with. you look so pathetic still trying to defend your position lol its so sad...

the EVIDENCE that you mention is IRRELEVANT to the matter. The piano is so loud at some moments that you can' hear the violin.

  • you're a dumbass

  • just shut up.

  • @mfuller13 i find it really ironic that you people who can't hear the violin is calling me deaf. if you can't hear the violin, then YOU are the one who is deaf. either that or you just don't know the piece at all.

like i said already, the only difference was that the lid was open. the balance was just right for this piece.

  • @ssdiothor omg I didn't post that my friend was screwing with my profile...I love her!!

  • @ssdiothor learn a little bit about balance in music. her sound is strained. you can't hear it and that doesn't mean you're deaf. just musically insensitive. work on that. otherwise shut up =]

  • @ssdiothor you're a retard.... it's totally too loud you idiot. wow.....

  • i wish the pianist would have been more sensitive to the violinist (quieter!). amazing still.

  • actually i've played and performed the first two movements. have you? duh the piano part is hard. i'm not deaf, but that doesn't mean he should drown her out!

it's clear that she's struggling to be heard over the pianist so you can't hear all the musical nuances of the violinist... but if you like that you're entitled to your opinion.

  • amazing violinist !!!!!

  • Ce frumoasa e cantareata si cantec!

  • I think it was Somerset Maughan who said, any method is good.... if you have talent.

  • great violinist, also pianist!

    surprising amazing performance....!

  • I wish I could have a tone like hers. It's so amazing.

  • great pianist
