@bloodgulch1 It's not meant to be stealthed, neither is it designed to meet enemy missiles and shells, it's simply designed to fly at heights of over 50,000ft and observe for days.
@xero993 if it's meant to observe for days behind enemy lines why didnt they made it stealth? i mean something that big will be easy to dectect by radar. so it being over enemy territory for days really sound like a bad idea because SAM's will blow it to oblivion in matter of seconds.
@bloodgulch1 This aircraft isn't designed for flying over Moscow, just places like Afganistan where SAM's aren't a threat.
FOR places like NK, etc where there is a threat, even more sophisticated aircraft are used. Until it was cancelled, this role was to be given to the MQ-3 DarkStar, a stealthy recon platform. Stealthy aircraft capable of loitering over dangerous territory are without a doubt already flying, but such tech is so controversial that it's existance must be denied.
@xero993 Do you work for an Aircraft company? I myself is considering studing aerospace engineering as a major in college (This is my first year in college btw)
I am working my way to getting a position in the Australian Defence Force Academy however and from there, becoming an aerospace engineer for the RAAF. At the moment though I just make fictional aircraft for a flight simulator. (See my channel for some work in progress videos).
@bloodgulch1 It is intended for use after we have total air superiority...which the U.S.A. has had after the first 72 hours in all modern wars. It is meant for surveillance...to loiter, a reconnaissance bird. If you want to see the drone we will use for killing people over territories where there are active S.A.M.S. look up the X-47B.
Just a thought. I have a remote controlled MQ-9 Reaper. The thing tip stalls BAD. A big advantage to unmanned aircraft is the ability to pull extreme G's for extended periods of time for evasive maneuvers etc. These CAN'T. They tip stall too easily and fly too slowly. They are great for flying several stories on one take off. They are nice because pilots don't have to be rotated through the theater. I just wonder how cool these things will be in 5-10 yrs from now when they can RIP!
I´d use it for tracking USA agents infiltrating Europe :P

@briansmobile1 The MQ-9 isn't meant for real combat, that's what the X-47 and other future aircraft are for. :3
