  • I was working in radio in Boston back then. The "word" around the radio stations was that their record company sent them to New Orleans to records their third album with Allan Toussaint's involvement after the second album had disappointing sales. I've always wondered if this song (on the 4th album) was about him.

Toussaint had a reputation of rescuing groups with disappointing 2nd albums

  • what a shooting star !! MY FAVORITE ARTIST RIP LOWELL

  • what a shooting star !! MY FAVORITE ARTIST RIP LOWELL

  • in my top 2 or 3 1st time views of a yt vid ******

  • After watching that quick interview with Bill Payne on how John Belushi could have done a role as Lowell George for a movie--then of course, as Belushi went the identical way of George, Bill thought in 'today's world,' Jack Black would make a good Lowell George! I would have to agree! Jack looks like he could be Lowell's brother--and he plays a pretty mean guitar too! YOU READIN' THIS, JACK?! Let's see a cool Jack Black Dixyin' the Chicken!!

  • @troutslayer52101 Jack Black: What an inspired suggestion!

  • @Redhand1949

Hey! I've been saying this for over a year! Check the facebook page "Make a Lowell George movie starring Jack Black!"

Little things I've seen make me think his wife doesn't want it to happen.

    Sigh.....

  • Little Feat in this era, with Lowell firmly in control, have to be the best band of all time. No contest. Bought Dixie Chicken the week it was released in the uk - changed my life.

Love to you Lowell, if they have YouTube in heaven.

  • very nice!

  • How good was that

  • 22 stone when he died? I've never seen him look the least bit overweight in any of these videos. 22 stone is 307 pounds, and he doesn't look tall. (Jack Black should play him in a film.)

  • Like the man said, this is the best music clip on youtube. I saw these guys July '76 in Sydney and it's still the best gig of my life. They were at their peak around that time. Awesome!

  • Country with a boogie beat.

  • Awesome video. Thanks for putting it on.

  • i cant believe id never heard of this band till they started showing re runs of the whistle test about ten year ago on bbc, brillint musicianship

  • Lowell George leading vocals?

  • @holdersteven YES

  • who cdn;t love this sound!? stezyrezy

  • Neo Cube inventor, I know you were hoping that nobody would ever pick up on this, but... I think now would be a good time to contact your lawyer. 0:45.

  • One of my all time favourite players......Peace...Jake

  • I can never get enough of this performance. What an underrated band... yet still legendary. Thanks, uploader! Amazing every time I watch it!

  • The bassist looks like Phil Lynott, although it is surely not him

  • @AgentChristian ha ha he does eh? looks one groovy dude too

  • i can tell that all these guys are totally into their music.

  • Me likey.

  • This is a pure funk orgasm. Just ask the Rock and Rock Doctor tonight!

  • one of the MOST underated Little Feat collabarations ( IMHO)

  • Check out the drummer....It's Keith Lemon!

  • could this be the funkiest vid on youtube -if i had a country this would be the national anthem - get that funk at 2.33 through to 3.20 and keep that funk alive !!!

  • Matt Berry should play Lowell in a movie!

  • @MrRGanja Had to google Matt Berry, didn't know the name, but recognized the face, though I've never seen the show. He might be a great actor, or a funny dude, but sorry, he's just not pretty enough. Jack Black needs to do it! Bill Payne said in an interview that John Belushi once approached him about wanting to play "The Lowell George Story". Bleeeaaahhh! Ack!

  • nobody could do the shuffle like them!

  • Stratocasters used right...!!

    RIP Lowell and Leo Fender...

  • listen to that music...it would be great to see this in some off the beaten track dive bar with worn 25 cent pool tables!!! and the only food the bar serves is soft pretzels from the toaster oven!!!! i've been there 'on tuesday it was ellios pizza night!!!

  • @zappahart I'll be doing exactly that -- or as close as one comes these days -- next month. GA (General Admission) baby!

  • @notanotheraccount i miss those days my friend .i went to a show in 90 it was allmans and little feat ...with..TOWER OF POWER!!!! then we went to a bar with 75 cent bud lite pints 25 cent pool tables and all the biker chicks you could ask for it was a great time in my life!!!oh by the way ..some of the biker chicks were good looking!!at least coming from a really good show at the philly spectrum!!!!thank you for letting me relive the memory!!!!!

  • @notanotheraccount right on brother...tower of power?????

  • @zappahart I don't think so...it's the upcoming Dallas show. As far as I know it's just the Feat playing in their set, although with an opening act.

  • @notanotheraccount i've only seen the feat one time, but i have two live albums .the old standard waiting for columbus whitch is one of the best live albums ever.i actually have 2 copies the single disc and the 3 disc extended version. the of course the better version. do you have the little feat live cd with the girl singing??i think she is still in the band now. still great i have some on my ipod but not the same. im intrested to hear your opinion on that let me know how the show was.thanx.

  • I miss Lowell SO much ! When I got the news he was gone (on my way to band practice) we pulled off the interstate, got a BIG bottle southern comfort and cried all day and night.....his songs are it !!!!! He had a truck load of the proverbial "IT"

  • R.I.P. Lowell, Missed but still live on in my truck to this day, there is alot of good music today but nothing like this.. 50 somthing and still rocking...

  • @vakalogr you r right sir!!!!!!

  • Now that's music! Not that fcking autotuned crap that is on the most mainstream radio stations.

  • How I miss Lowell George........

  • Perfection!

  • @SteffanLlwyd Dear Steve, thanks for sharing, this is just so nice to listen to.

Makes me realy feel good. Love you too ;-)

  • As good a version as you will hear of this track.

  • @candelise Hey candelise, couldn't agree more. This was taken from a BBCFour retrospective on the classic 70's BBC2 (UK) TV show, hosted by the great 'whispering' Bob Harris. I was 15 yrs old when I first saw this and it hooked me into the Feat. I've been a huge fan ever since. Check out other rock acts on that brilliant show by entering 'Old Grey Whistle Test' in the search window. Bob Harris turned me on to so much amazing music and musicians. Little Feat were one of many! Enjoy! Thanks Bob!

  • @00Muttley I was also a great fan of this show and first saw this on a year-end retrospective back in' 79/80. Blew my head off! Very frustrating when the show first aired in the early Seventies as we did not have BBC 2 on our TV!! I was listening to Bob Harris on the radio just yesterday actually, where he spoke of the show and the 'Whistle-Test 'CD he is promoting. He said that there are activities of some kind for the show . Some kind of celebration for the shows' anniversery next year!

  • @candelise I think there is also an OGWT retrospective on guitar heroes - this Little Feat number might've been from it actually but if you look out for it you'll other 'heads' like Bill Nelson (Be-Bop Deluxe), Johnny Winter and many more. The incredible thing about this Little Feat recording was that the Feat were literally just off a transatlantic flight from the US to gig in the UK. They had been flying all night and arrived in the OGWT studio first thing in the morning. Amazingly 'tight'.

  • @00Muttley Too true! Wasn't it done in an old, converted church or something? Jackson Browne once called them "a band of assasins". One of the few groups without a single weak link, they were all so good. We marveled in the UK because we had heard nothing like them before and I don't think that we had anything on offer to match, either. Like aliens coming from afar to land on earth, you could clearly see that they had their 'thing' down cold.

  • @candelise So true! Jackson Browne...now there's another head. Thanks to YouTube I've been rediscovering a lot of my old music - like the Feat, Doobie Bros, Cheap Trick, Nils Lofgren, Be-Bop Deluxe, you name it! I still have just about everything the Feat did on vinyl but haven't transfered it all to CD just yet. I really must get a USB compatible turntable and rip it all to my PC. Look out for 'Long Distance Love', recorded live in a hotel room with the Feat all out of their nuts! Great groove!

  • @00Muttley I recall that film too! Did you ever see them live with Lowell at the time? I had no chance of that, unfortunately, but I did see them the day Roy Orbison died in Kentish Town, when they returned after nearly ten years. Bonnie Raitt supported them, Little Feat backed her up and then she did the same on vocals when they played their set. Highly memorable for a REAL encore that was played when the audience refused to leave the floor.

  • @00Muttley CLARITY CALL: Roy Orbison did not die in Kentish Town, of course, but Little Feat PLAYED there, just to clear that up!!

  • epic..superb

  • wow

  • hallo

  • mellow yellow
