Is there any way to take it apart like a Katana and raise the hardness level of the 1050 blade, mabey cooking it through with pette moss? ( wich goes to average 2k degrees )the softer steels are just ugly after steel on steel contact and take forever to repair by hand!
@Skullchaser8 its ok, i like it when people get passionate even when its at me :) and thanks for debating me for I got to add more information, debates are often a good way to learn.
You are correct on a couple points, the citizens in Germany did have a kind of sword though, rapiers. A rapier is a civilians, or a nobles weapon. I learned this from my swordsmaster whos been studying, reenacting and swordfighting for over 20 years, probably knows a hell of a lot more then you.
everyone calls the grosse messer a sword, its a knife. grosse messer means, "big knife" in german, the difference between a knife and a sword is that a sword has a pommel, knives sometimes have buttcaps, but not a pommel.
@AwsomeKwatchy : "A Großes Messer or Gross Messer ("great knife") was a type of German single-edged one handed ---->sword<---- similar to a falchion that was used during the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries. "
The name for it was great knife, because it was a sword with a single edge, like a knife would have.
Is that it??? Only 1 angle of attack?? Im a Savant and Blade Expert , and this guy lacks stance and form but i do like Coldsteel so 2 any1 who wants a Coldsteel Sword but reads sumwhere that it breaks , dont believe it because defects are very rare and i have found Coldsteel 2 be very tough and almost Legendary
You are a savant? Do you even know what that is? Oh, now you are going to wiki it... And "almost Legendary"? First of all, you shouldn't have capitalized the "L". Secondly, you are an idiot.
hope your not lying my friend or cold steel will sue. you should see the time and effort they put into testing thier swords and knives on thier webb site, they drive it through a steel car bonit ..us millitary and british military use cold steel knives i have one of these myself and i know it will not break..
Send it back to cold steel, its unusaul for 1055 carbon steel to fail, its made for shock absorbtion. Or maybe it was a knockoff, or your friend was hitting solid concrete floor accidently while cutting the tree.
No offence but u can tell your just a big but slashing. No form. How you can tell is when you hit it the mats move side to side, ive been using the Katana for 6 years and after 6 months of hard pratice it stopped and it would stay still. Work on it but either way its fun and nice vid
i wish i had spare money for this

You tried to chop down a tree with a sword? And you're complaining that it snapped? Are you out of your mind?

Then it wasn't a cold steel one. It was probably a "display" grosse messer, the cold steel ones are "battle-ready".
There's a HUGE difference when they are for display and battle-ready.

No, the US military uses Ka-Bar. Almost as good yet extremely cheap.
